  1. David King, who coaches Jack Viney at Carey, raved about Jack on 3AW Saturday afternoon. "A 200 game superstar, so chin up Demon fans." Kingy also raved about Addam Maric.
  2. Sadly, Theo-X is not going to light up the studio with any scintillating contrary insights. He pretty much goes with whatever happens to be the prevailing consensus.
  3. Tell us something we don't know, Sheeds. Melbourne has been a shambles for years.
  4. That is precisely what Malthouse sides do best. You only have to look at the finals Collingwood won in 2002 and 2003 to realise Malthouse footy is all about pressure, panic & winning big games. A pretty underwhelming Collingwood list almost won the flag in 2002 and were smashed in 2003, but Brisbane were pretty damn good. What I wouldn't give to have an undermanned Melbourne make a grand final. (Again.) Please, Melbourne, employ a coach whose priority is pressure & panic.
  5. A polite Mike would have elaborated.
  6. Mike Sheahan slips in a one-two jab combination: Anyone know what Iron Mike is alluding to?
  7. I don't know why. Maybe, after 8 seasons underachieving at Melbourne, he feels the time is right to go and underachieve elsewhere, but for more money. "After 8 enjoyable and rewarding seasons at Melbourne I see this move as a great opportunity to further my football career and I am really looking forward to this new challenge."
  8. This morning John Anderson (7:25 3AW) said to "expect Sylvia to be on the move".
  9. Worsfold knows footy is a contact sport, so add him to my "yes" list.
  10. A smokey?
  11. True story. My brother walked out of that 1979 Fitzroy match and his mate turned to him and said :"I didn't think we played that bad."
  12. Any potential coach who understands footy is first and foremost a contact sport would be a welcome change from our last three run & gun coaches. Yes: Laidley, Clarkson, Malthouse, Roos, Matthews, Lyon (Ross: see Adam White 927) and I suspect Neeld given his Malthouse tutelage. No: Eade, Williams, Wallace (proposed by the odd clown on SEN). The "yes" list know pressure & defence win big games, the "no" list think footy is won with textas and a whiteboard.
  13. Tom Harley?!? You're taking the p155, right?
  14. I'm sorry, I must have missed something. (And I heard the whole press conference.) When precisely did Bailey admit to tanking? Anyone got a quote?
  15. We would, too - if we could afford them.
  16. How did tanking effect Carlton's culture?
  17. Dean Bailey has consistently put Melbourne ahead of his own interests. Hats off, Curley.
  18. Casey missed a golden arches... I mean, golden opportunity: HF: McDonald Macdonald McNamara FF: McShane McKenna McGeogh
  19. Hopefully we can bounce back from yesterday's Brendan Fevola debacle:
  20. I see no reason to revise what I wrote before the season:
  21. Can't we leave whinging about Melbourne's crowd sizes to the media?
  22. If Craig was suddenly Melbourne's coach, I reckon he might go alright. Might. If he had a better finals record and if he had shown a little flexibility vis-a-vis the Crows' gameplan he might convince me he is right to coach Melbourne. But on balance, no.
  23. Melbourne would never set the lawyers on the AFL. The AFL would remove our assistance money and make us play every home game in Darwin for the next 5 years.
  24. Not so much Mr Murdoch. I think you will find that the AFL and the previous state Labor government read from the same spin-book.
