  1. The AFL is unlikely to punish itself.
  2. Stevens has an appalling record of inaccuracy. Appalling! He once confused big fat Brian "BT Bristle" Taylor with skinny willow-the-wisp Brian Taylor, the Subiaco back pocket.
  3. Ward 5 million for 5 years is just outrageous. If it is true the AFL must be so desperate to get GWS off the ground they are irresponsibly providing the Giants with bottomless pockets.
  4. Speaking of backflipped: Although, that was on Feb 3. As the facts change, etc...
  5. Both are good. Watts is smoother. NN is more dynamic, if less prolific. We drafted Watts because he is a Victorian. Nik Nat is/was a massive flight risk. Imagine the speculation if he was in Scully's current predicament. Although a return to the West would have been a greater worry than a detour to the West Sydney Ramraiders.
  6. Yes, I agree with that. Bennell did some good things on Saturday. His big advantage is that he can run past and/or around opponents and backs himself to get away a la Chip. Looks like he's put on condition, too, which is what I alluded to with the "natural development" point. Bennell looks as though he might slip into the "keep" column. It remains to be seen whether he can fill out enough to be a big game player. And he probably needs to get a little more ball, too, although he does perform some tidy stopping roles.
  7. If he leaves we will most definitely have a Scully thread. And it will probably cause the internet to melt.
  8. Yes, I like the cut of Tapscott's jib. Players who win the ball by knocking over their opponent are absolutely key to consistently winning big games.
  9. we still need plenty of grunt. We are currently unbalanced. Too many outside players, not enough inside players. You won't win a big final with Morton, Jurrah, Bennell, Davey, to name a few. Natural development will help some, but I'd suggest we need two less outsiders and two more thumpers.
  10. I enjoyed watching Wet Toast bruise Carlsoft.
  11. McLure is an imbecile. He gets something patently wrong every week. He is only there to play the role of the colourful grumpy-old-man.
  12. We've ALWAYS had this game plan.
  13. Cramp, chase Cotchin, tackle Cotchin, cramp, kick long. Gun.
  14. Petterd - terrific last quarter.

Bizarre match. North kicked 14 goals to win by a point, but kicked 11 goals in the second quarter (which seemed to go for about 40 minutes, allowing North to kick a bundle of late goals).

Wiz should never have gone back to WA. Appalling (footy) decision.
  17. Big trade rumour! Hannabal & RPFC to the Washington Post - Woodward & Bernstein to Demonland.
  18. IWAP, God knows which idiot started that rumour!
  19. Nutbean, Well, no. Ablett did indeed go to GC17. As a 10 year player, with a Brownlow, two premierships, a fight with his previous coach, a sense of job-well-done at Geelong, and a golden chance at a superannuated juicy payday, he obviously did rate GC17 as a better prospect than Geelong. On the other hand, Kreuzer & Scully, two gun players of similar pedigree and experience, have their whole careers in front of them. Kreuzer rates the West Sydney Ramraiders a worse prospect than Carlton. Will Scully rate Melbourne a worst prospect than the West Sydney Ramraiders (or one of the big Melbourne clubs)?
  20. Melbourne supporters' ability to put their own club down knows no bounds. Maurie, Hats off to you for being able to take 5 words out of a 21 word sentence to completely change the nature said sentence. You should be a journalist. I do not think Melbourne is a dump. Quite clearly I was putting hypothetical words in Tom's mouth: But it is flattering to be taken out of context. Unless you were taking the [censored]...
  21. I think that just about says it all. It's the name-dropping that got me. He even managed to name drop Pat Cash (or, on unreliable exposed form, Johnny Cash) in his mea culpa when called on his error on Twitter. What a tool.
  22. I would certainly take adequate compensation for Scully.
  23. Matthew Kreuzer knocked back a big GWS offer to stay at Carlton. (Allegedly the biggest GWS offer.) He obviously rates Carlton, its chances for a flag and its environment (and its deep pockets) compared with GWS. On the other hand, if Tom Scully took the big money and went to GWS you have to conclude Tom rates GWS a better prospect than Melbourne. Or, looking at it the other way around: Tom rates Melbourne a worse prospect than GWS. We must be utter bush-league, since the GWS Ramraiders are going to be rubbish for a few years yet. There is another possible: Tom wants to get to one of Melbourne's big clubs, Collingwood, Carlton, etc. In other words he reckons footy at, say, The Pies would be sweet compared with footy at a dump like Melbourne. I don't know why you wouldn't want to hold that against him. I know I would. In fact I would hold it against him in perpetuity, until the cows come home, and for ever. But I hope he stays. (As long as we don't pay over the odds to keep him.)
  24. Kozzy got 2. Corey got off. Mummy got 2.
  25. Save the effusive praise for the day Greeny belts a good team on a big stage, not snag a few goals against a backline which had no idea.
