I don't think I'll be venting unless we don't have JV in our stable. If we have to take JV with 3, so be it. For 3 years our club has been committed and making noises about Jack. if GC nominate bid we must take him at 3. But if our club has somehow brokered a stealth deal sending him to be picked in the second round, leaving both picks 3,4, I will most likely be doing backflips. Fingers crossed for a good start to trade week tomorrow. Edit: ummm... Today

I think I read or heard somewhere that the NBL and A League seasons start soon. You wouldn't know it unless you looked through the media with a fine tooth comb. Saw a snippet of the 20/20 world cup briefly. Aussies have reached the semi's. Marked cards on publicity; AFL 10 A League 3 T/20 Cricket 2 NBL 1

Gold Coast manager Marcus Ashcroft said that if they cannot reach a suitable trade agreement for Caddy, they will let him go through to the PSD. Hardball.

AFL rules out priority picks this year I've said it before, I'll say it again. The AFL have said the investigation into alleged tanking claims concerning the Melbourne Football Club will take "as long as it takes to complete", they will interview "everyone and anyone" associated with the club regarding these allegations until they are satisfied before announcing any findings. Hence we know FA has already commenced and trade period starts next week. So "if" any findings or recommended sanctions are announced by the AFL during this period - you "would think" - not influence the trade and draft period for 2012. As it has already commenced.

Yeah well, some don't want to even contemplate alternate views no matter what is put forward. Set in their ways with the blinkers on. He's delivered on his promise to shake up the joint and go down a track unfamiliar to many within the melbfc. A professionally run outfit. Rome wasn't built in a day and he needs players to play roles and cattle. Quality cattle which he hasn't got. Some people talk about wins of the past, some of those players have moved on, different dynamic, different path now. Different coach. In a month or two's time the playing list will be significantly different to 2012. It's a tough job and initiation for any rookie coach. I shouldn't have to go on about our midfield, you've read it all before.

When I look back on Jobe back in 2005/06, reminds me of Gysberts. Pulling the "finger out" (as his father told him) and working with this Riley character and Greg Williams transformed him in body and mind.

Like Brisbane before with Clark, Gold Coast will make the best deal in return for Caddy. The club hasn't spoken to him yet...

I watched along with 2.1 million other Australians last night the first part of the mini series "Howzat - Kerry Packers War" . I thought it was very entertaining. Particularly the confrontation between Kerry Packer and a young David Hookes. Pissa. Here's an article worth reading regarding that time on reflection: http://footyalmanac.com.au/?p=43653 -Gideon Haigh. A very good read. The second and final part of the series is on next Sunday night on Ch 9.

If that's the case every day of the week and twice on Sunday's. Not sure that GC would warm to it though.

Yep agree on surplus. I'd do Martin p13 for Caddy.
