  1. I think Stef Martin could be included on the good books PJ, however, in any case, the loss of the players you named doesn't say much for the MFC hierarchy's decision making! I love Beamer. Good guy, with that perfect amount arrogant attitude. When Geelong won their premerships I listened to a smart ass reporter ask him if he regretted moving - I respected Beamer immediately for his quick response (which was a resounding no). Its a shame things didnt work out: he went from such a great player to no effort. Best of luck Beamer. I've only ever said that you, Rivers and Petterd... and the exact opposite to Mclean, Johnstone and Farmer
  2. So no 1968 GT 390 Fastback?!? WWSMD? (What Would Steve McQueen Do?)...
  3. Fair call old dee. Its a pretty competitive view - but just the way I feel, and probably how Hawthorn feels after last year! I've always played sports with prizes for 2nd, and 3rd but I've always been fascinated with footy with really, no prize for 2nd and the difference between the final finish of the ladder and the finals...

  5. Too true. I was going to talk about that but I had to draw the line somewhere lol Hang in there old dee - I felt the same but at the end of the day if you dont win the premership, than youre just like everyother loser. Since I've been alive we havent won a premership and been in a grand final once... I'm not in a hurry for bragging rights to say that we are in the top 8... look how far that got Carlton! I'm in it to win it, and willing to give whatever time it will take - in this case giving Neeld more than two years!
  6. If youre looking for a quick fix youre deluding yourself. There are so many things wrong about your argument that I'm struggling to wrap my head around it... like using Daniher as an example of a quick coaching turnaround - what did he turn us around to? He was the longest serving coach in the AFL never to coach a team to a premership. Sure he got us into a grand final but only by the skin of our teeth and we got flogged... the next year what did we end up? 11th! Also you have a servere lack of consideration to list, and club conditions when the coaches took over the position. For example, guess what the following players all have in common: Hart (became Norm Smith Medalist) Johnson (became All Australian) Lappin (became All Australian) Leppitch (became All Australian) Voss (became tripple best & fairest + All Australian) Akermanis (became twice best & fairest, four time All Australian and Brownlow Medalist) Scott (became best & fairest) Black (became tripple time All Australian, three time best & fairest, Norm Smith Medalist, Brownlow Medalist) They all played 200+ games, they all played in the three premerships and most importantly they were all playing for Brisbane before Leigh Mathews was coach - he inherited an extremely talented list. Much different to the one Neeld recieved (see Bennel, Morton, Cook ect.) WORST OF ALL the primary issue with your argument is that the majority of all supports, like myself, would rather a slow build and get a premership than a quick turnaround for the top 8. If youre not in it for the long run thats fine. But dont chuck a hissy fit when people dont agree with your extremely unreal expectations, bias stats and narrow mindedness
  7. Neil Craig played 319 games in the SNAFL (the oldest surviving football league of any code in Australia and owns the sub licences for two AFL teams: the Crows and Port), two of those were premership wins, he kicked 220 goals, was a captain for two years, and was apparently hunted by Footscray but declined to stay in South Australia. He also played 11 State of Orign games and considering his Olympic experience as a senior sports scientist for Cycling, his two premership involvements as fitness adivsor and assistant coach during two Adeliade premership wins, he led the Crows to their first a minor premership as Coach in 2005, and leading them on to 4 more consequtive finals making both one of the most experienced players of Australian Rules Football in your list and also one of the most all rounded/experienced coaches in the AFL. Whilst you are not wrong, he never played any football for a team in the VFL - your stats are incredibly bias and do not show "the experience they bring" EDIT: spelling/grammar
  8. The internet is a wonderful thing. I know a trainer at another club and asked him about this and he says whenever the guys take anything they always google it before hand to make sure its approved - even if its for a headache or something more complicated like when they have the flu. It took a friend of mine, a computer, a cup of tea and a few minutes to find out all he needed to know about AOD and if it was approved or not - I'm sure if this was your job, you would have been able to know quite quickly.
  9. I find this thread ironic - egotistical people talking about egotistical people undermining the club. There will always be people wanting to undermine the club or any other club due to the high turnover rate of both staff and executives and personal connections which they bring. Move on, its a fact of any industry .
  10. Also we need someone to fill in the void for a tall FF because of Clark and Dawes... Im feeling Sam Tarly or Sandor Clegane? Keeping on topic of CEO maybe Daenerys Targarye?n - world's toughest boss
  11. Moloney would be the most recent I can remember... but never did it with such finesse
  12. Read the books - they are awesome. There are 7 of them (some books spread over multiple - ie the third had so many characters he split it into volumes). The HBO tv show does them alot of justice.
  13. Seriously struggling to wipe the smug look off my face at Rich's unfortunately injury - hope he gets better... but not too soon
  14. Great to go every second year! You are spot on - he kept us competitive, and not only got us into a premership, but also gave us september footy!
  15. Daniher was the longest serving coach to never get a premership. Apart from him no coach has lasted more than 5 years since the 1964 premership. Since 1975 we have had 9 coach, Neeld is our 10th, his predecessor (Bailey) was coach for 2 years Over the same period: Collingwood has had 7, Buckley is their 8th, his predecessor (Malthouse) was coach for 11 years Geelong has had 7, Scott is their 8th, his predecessor (Thompson) was coach for 10 years North Melbourne has had 7, Scott is their 8th, his predecessor (Laidley) was coach for 6 years The only other club to have more coaches than us is St. Kilda with 12 I think its important to keep Neeld. High turnover in any industry isnt good for a number of factors. Particulary culture. Football is a strategy oriented game - its important to give the right people the right time to let their strategy come to fruition or fail - axe crazy this early isnt a logical timeframe.
  16. Watts will still be contracted next year Strauss is yet to play more than two games but still retains alot of interest from other clubs - might want to give him a chance to prove himself?
  17. I take it you didn't read his response to one of Caro's articles during the tanking inquisition where she called us disgusting and pathetic four times and said that we tanked? From my angle the club had only produced a couple of statements, the usual "can't comment till after the investigation", the usual "the AFL has found us innocent" and the hard "go f$&k yourself Caro". Also can someone confirm: did we and was that the time when we dropped The Age as our minor sponsor?
  18. You = a bigot Strauss has come back from a shoulder reconstruction and a more recent broken leg- tell me how that is soft.
  19. He is a good player, you dont win premierships by being ordinary. At Collingwood he was Clokes decoy and used as back up ruck, and was he in the 22 - no. Would he be in our 22 - definately That goes for Byrnes, Clark and any other player we have picked up. BTW, Dawes chose to leave - big difference
  20. The funniest thing I found was when everyone was having a go at her for raising the rumor and her reply to Garry was: "Then why did you let me put it on the show?" I mean seriously own up to your actions instead of blame everyone and thing under the sun.
  21. Remember last year with Mark Neeld and the 186 issue with Dean Bailey are two different coaching periods, two different strategies. I dont know what incident youre referring to when you say no wonder players walked last year - was that in relation to the 186 or MN? I'm happy with this current strategy but I think I'm not wrong in saying that MN's success determines the fate of the board.
  22. I agree the buck has to stop somewhere. Re Cameron Schwab youre right, he was elected and was chosen as part of Jim's new strategy in 2008: New president, new board and new CEO. As I said, there have been a number of f*&k ups. Of note: 1) Cameron Schwab. Originally I thought it was a good appointment, I still like CS and clearly things werent working out with him and other participants in the MFC + why he was offered a 3 year contract was just silly 2) EnergyWatch. To be honest I believe any board would have accepted them as a sponsor, and I think due dilligence was taken (and other clubs also were in the same boat) but that hit the fan 3) Tanking. Jim Stynes and the 2008 board presided over the club during this time, but we were found not guilty - the only reason why I've included this is that they appointed CC who made the comments 4) 186 saga. The media have said the original move was to get rid of both DB and CS at the same time but Jim and others thought it was too unstable. 5) Transperancy with the AFL over Dank. Yet to be concluded However might I add I am extremely happy with the way they have handled all these issues, particluarly in regards to the tanking allegations, and this has also continued through with EnergyWatch response and standing beside Liam Jurrah. In regards to the players - looking back at our 22 in 2010 I dont think our list was all too bad. We had a number of senior players, and young guns coming through but alot of unexpected things happened (see wonna, Jurrah, multiple injuries such as Gawn, Martin and Petterd) When looking at draft picks its important to remember picks made before the 2008 Stynes board and to be honest I'm extremely happy with the picks we made last year. When you have the newest and best AFL facilities, getting paid on average $200k and have great support staff like Craig and Misson, I cant help but expect a little bit more than beards, hot tubs and 'confidence issues'. I think for too long they have avioded the spot light and its about time we look at the performance of the players.
  23. I'm more angry at the performance by the players than the performance by our board. Im not 100% happy, dont get me wrong, but I they did what the set out to do and promised: got us debt free, increased our membership, and gave our players the best facilities and coaching staff out there. There have been a number of f$&k ups, but at least they have done something. For me the only thing the players have done is grow a beard. Give me a game like the fourth last week and I'll be happy.
  24. Ease up old dee - we aren't as bad as the Costa Concordia!
