add brayshaw's 4q mark to that. it was held much longer than wingard's on the melk one, why didn't one of the other 3 umpires have the guts to overide the dh one?

at least they got the former correct

  5. yeah, he's just splitting hairs. i don't get it, he should be happy. has banged on for ages about a single site and a social club and is now arguing the toss over a few hundred metres. must be something about the proximity to the dreaded northern stand
  6. ernie, yarra park is plenty big enough for both passive AND active recreation the fact that people don't like change is axiomatic but not in itself a very compelling planning argument to a tribunal

a bit glass half empty tonight, ernie? you could easy take as a positive to the internal candidates, saying you guys were so good getting to the final 5 that it took a simply outstanding candidate with previous ceo skills to beat you. we don't know all that was said in the meeting but i'm sure the three candidates were rightly praised (as they should be) sorry ernie, don't see the negatives

    have we got him yet?
  9. i'd be interested to know what specific problems to amenity that east melbourne/jolimont residents might have maybe copouchas could itemise them for us so we could discuss them (i appreciate we are not in possession of detailed plans of any mfc proposal)
  10. i didn't mean only. i meant in addition to whatever parking they incorporate in the new buildings most buildings in the cbd and inner melbourne don't have much in the way of their own private parking parking is obviously of interest/importance but it is more a secondary concern and we shouldn't overstress it. i'm sure the club has considered it and have some good ideas. there are more important issues we should be focused on
  11. i think you are conflating the parking issue. the mfc is part of the mcc and some parking (for club players, officials) should be available in the mcc parking area at least at certain times. the southern stand of the mcg is also to be redeveloped and no doubt will include more parking than it does now. on the building height limit, have you seen the current building heights on wellington pde? i don;t think we want to build anything higher than this
  12. i think it clear that the club is looking at a new location that can also include revenue generating assets. with this in mind the yarra park/wellington pde nexus is vastly superior to the more isolated goschs paddock/punt rd nexus from a commercial point of view
  13. 54 actually!!!!!!!! ?
  14. whilst parking is obviously part of the mix, i don't think parking should be one of the major factors in determining whether a particular location is acceptable. to me it is just a minor consideration and shouldn't be unduly conflated

they need to give non-tenant clubs better deals for members when playing "home" games. it's a joke compared to same situation at the g

he's certainly got a man crush on himself
  19. i thought the old east melbourne ground was much closer to the city in fact city side of jolimont residential edit: oops, if i had read ahead i would have seen others had already covered this
  20. no doubt your pleasant walk (and mine, i might add) gets off to a bad start though having to walk past the toiges punt road oval.
  21. why the fascination with weids, fence? has done nothing much this year really. still early in his development cycle
  22. the one aspect i like is the commercial (i.e. revenue) aspect of siting this over the rail-line in east melbourne. A medical centre (presumably sports med), extensive gym facilities, social club and an apartment complex (possibly other uses too) are all important revenue raising opportunities and an imperative to mfc in lieu of our now extinguished pokie revenue. the location is particularly important for commercial ventures compared with say near gosch's paddock. it is a perfect location for commercial exploitation, and importantly the buildings are not on yarra park lands
  23. i always understood it to not include the station but to be eastwards of the station (buildings and oval)
  24. a little bit more i'm still sticking with my 44,444 forecast......602 to go 43,842
