  1. Dew was offered role as Roos' assistant and coach in waiting and knocked it back. Healy is confused or unable to explain himself.
  2. Very solid citizen.
  3. From what someone posted on here years ago Bails was a huge rap for Jordie as a kid. Maybe we were heading the wrong way long before Neeld took us over the abyss.
  4. thanks cobber - will try harder
  5. I don't remember him as a player but he played 50 games over five seasons (1987-91) for Geelong - an average of 10 games per year - which hardly puts him in "best 22 category". Incidentally during his five seasons the Cats performances were mixed - finished well out of the finals twice (9th and 10th), missed the finals a third time. These facts are derived from afltables.com and confirmed by australianfootball.com. (Interestingly, his elite sports properties biography claims 60 games in four seasons...some sensitivity there perhaps...which probably just goes to confirm his status as a [censored].) I don't understand why I was censored since the word I used is the singular form of a word in the thread title (rhymes with dog).
  6. Paul Roos cannot guarantee Jack Watts will be at Melbourne next year Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/paul-roos-cannot-guarantee-jack-watts-will-be-at-melbourne-next-year-20150914-gjmjzc.html#ixzz3llHxztwo Follow us: @theage on Twitter | theageAustralia on Facebook Not really much of a yarn but thought those who didn't see 360 (including me) might want to read it.
  7. Nope. Nope. Nope. Oh sorry, that was the other guy. No, a thousand times no.
  8. Substitute 'randy coach' for randy footballer and yes, it has happened before.
  9. Just concentrate on the fact that one of them is going to be feeling really $%@*house at the end of this. Should be some comfort there.
  10. It was mentioned in the commentary Friday night that James F has not won over the Hawthorn supporters yet, and Friday could be his big chance. We all know how that turned out. He might get another chance this week (if he ain't dropped) but what is the chance that Frawley might make top clubs think twice about pinching free agents in future? Apparently the Pies are going a little cold on Kreuzer BTW.
  11. Seriously, Carlton's case is majorly weakened by the success of the players they've thrown out. Garlett 40 goals, Betts 60+ goals, Robinson a B & F and Waite an elimination final match winner.
  12. Shorts too small?
  13. It always was an almighty wankfest, but that didn't stop it being the best newspaper in this city, and probably in the country, for a long time. Sad to its decline.
  14. As faintly amusing as it was to see the Richmond bandwagon crash and burn (again), it's good to remember how well we beat them, and for that matter how we comprehensively outplayed Norf for a half and but for that lousy first quarter could have done them as well. Norf are highly vulnerable if they are going to rely on Waite so much for their goals because he has shown many times reliability is not in his nature. Really hoping Adelaide can do it on Friday. Hawks out in straight sets would make it a wonderful world.
  15. Really, is there that much to be read into him being dropped for round 22? Several players returned, White got a chance and showed he was worth persevering with. Bottom line for me is that we have few really fine users of the ball so I reckon it would be a huge risk to let Watts go.
  16. That's exactly the point right there. You nailed it. I had had enough of Bruce's hospital bandpasses but of the three Junior's dumping was an outright disgrace and EVERYONE KNEW IT but the people responsible.
  17. Sad interview. He sounds pretty fragile actually. Short term memory loss at his age...bloody hell! He's losing his keys, his phone... He has made a decision for his long term health. It's quite insightful to hear him talk about the inability to learn from leaders because Junior, Greeny, Cam Bruce got the boot..."If your leaders are changing every year...it's hard to get consistency and continuity." "Grimesy and Jack T...that was all we had when we got rid of Brett Moloney...Beamer was great for the MFC he bled red and blue." Who can argue with any of that...and he clearly has a lot of affection for his mates still with us. He also said Bails never had the chance to play people in the position's he wanted. Must have meant they needed to mature before they could take the responsibility of the job's they were drafted for. Anyway, he's gone up a long way in my estimation.
  18. And learn to spell his name so the contract is legit!
  19. Yeah Sandy's not that bad. Did mix up Garlett and JKH which was poor but at least he tries to describe the game as opposed to the pub banter and irrelevant stuff Derwayne offers.
  20. Would be great for Jesse or Cripps, for about five minutes, then they'd forget about it. Who cares that a recently retired Cat once won the Rising Star in the red and blue? Really, who does care? I regard any individual award as of little importance compared to a premiership...don't rate the Brownlow either: look at the chumps who vote for that.
  21. Watched the replay last night. The bit that shat me was when he made a pretend apology to a theoretical someone who was watching their first game of Aussie Rules (the [censored] called it AFL but I'll let that go, almost), and said words to the effect of "it isn't always this bad". This was after we had pressured GWS all the way from forward 50 to our defensive 50 to finally force a turnover and ran, hand passed and kicked the ball forward and scored a goal! It was terrific, modern football - all team defence and quick counter attack to score and he is apologising to someone in his imagination! Brad Johnson and Lynch both had the decency to praise our pressure, but Der-wayne wanted it his way. A total creep. PS: any chance he is reading this thread? How about someone emails it to wherever the hell he is employed so he could feel the vibe.
  22. Very impressed with him this week. Great attack on the footy. It seems the rest was needed. His contested marking had me thinking we would not miss Howie so much if as expected he jumps ship.
  23. I was probably not alone in being, firstly, delighted that Paul Roos agreed to come to the MFC, and secondly, a bit sorry about how often he described us during his first year as a "2 win, 54 percentage team". Initially I thought it was an interesting measure of where the team was, but by the second half of the year I had heard enough of it. So I thought I'd test him on his own objective measures of how he has performed, remembering that Paul often says it's not about win-loss so much as fixing that percentage imbalance. 2013 Wins: 2 Position: 17th Percentage: 54 Scores 100+ For: 2 Scores 100+: 19 2014 4 17th 68 Nil 6 2015 7 13th 77 4 9 AMAZING is that in 2013 we had 100-plus scores against us in all but three games and it was not until round 16 when Geelong beat us scoring 98 points that our opposition did not hit the ton. Wins went up by 100% in 2014 and by a further 75% this year. Percentage (the test PR set store by) is up by almost half on 2013 level, and the big scores against have been cut by more than half. Finally these are the players introduced to the team since he arrived: Salem, Tyson, Cross, Michie, Vince, JKH, Riley (2014); and Hogan, Lumumba, Bradshaw, Stretch, Frost, Newton, OscarMac, Vanders, ANB and Garlett (2015). Now a subjective bit: I am strongly encouraged by what this tells us. If I was even crazier than I am I would go back through our injury lists and see how this year's results measure up but it's worth noting that we had long absences from Frost, Vanders, Salem, Kent, not to mention then missed year for Petracca.
  24. The word is drivel...can we get it right please?
  25. Ricky really can't keep us focused can he? Let's give Toump a year to get it right. Has shown flashes.
