  1. ewww...some restraint please.
  2. Can confirm Gleeson. Also Greg Baum a Pie. Rohan Connolly: Essendon. Mark Fine: St Kilda.
  3. CW is not a football journalist in the conventional sense. She doesn't write about the game, do analysis or match reports. What she does, and does better than anyone else, is report on the politics of clubs and relations, especially the souring of relations between officials, thanks to links to club personnel at a high level. And it's that access at senior club levels, I think, that inevitably leads to her upsetting people in the football world. In a sense she is more of a football gossip writer than a football journalist.
  4. Already the second highest number behind 52k in 2019. In the Covid era thatโ€™s a great effort. Maybe 50k is possible this year. That would be brilliant and (just) a little hard to believe.
  5. I hate to be a dampener but as a long term GF guarantee donor โ€˜limited โ€˜ in this context does not reflect heightened demand - just that thereโ€™s a finite number available. iโ€™ve been using the guarantee for several years as a way of coughing up more into the coffers. Never really thought Iโ€™d need it.
  6. Short memories indeed. My recall is that for all his attributes TMac was good for two turnover goals against us when playing back. Petty has trained for this role abd one in for one out means minimal disruption to the team system. Jones incidentally should be another omission. His decision making slowed numerous attacks in Tassie. And killed several others.
  7. MRO applies the โ€œplaying one of the AFLโ€™s love childrens this week rule โ€œ. Must do whatever it takes to help the Swans. letโ€™s hope Weid rips Michael Christain a new one.
  8. Heard from Roos fan today complaining about a crucial umpiring error mentioned on radio. Anyone know what heโ€™s talking about? (I mean crucial when the margin is 5 goals. Really?)
  9. You can blame the Coodabeens for this [censored]. They started it 30 years ago and haven't come up with any new material since. TOTAL FLOGS.
  10. I doubt a punch in the 'nads is par for the course.
  11. You are aware he is injured atm?
  12. Wonderful news. Great user of the ball, very clean. He is also resilient, does not (cross fingers) often get hurt and has played well through injury. I really like the way we are putting this group away for the long term, no distractions.
  13. Of course, Morgan's survey is distorted. The Swans with more than a million supporters? That's what happens when people in Sydney are asked what AFL team they follow...and they come up with the Swans but many would not really follow the AFL competition at all. They come up with the Swans because, well, who else? They are not 'engaged supporters' in the sense of our diehard quarter million. Ditto Brisbane.
  14. According to the national Morgan survey it's more like 250,000-270,000 across the country and Melbourne signs up a higher proportion of supporters than any other club.
  15. I'd love to know how many of those bathwater consumers have microwaved their memberships in the years before '17. I am looking forward to it. We have nothing to lose and we may learn how close we are to being a realistic challenger. A loss would not hurt as long as we are in the hunt. A win would be a credible step towards finals.
  16. My experience exactly. Seems only to respond to the level, never the section you want.
  17. I thought of my Dad last Sunday night too. Long gone, he saw most of our flags in person and he'd have loved that performance.
  18. No, but your money, that's another matter.
  19. Yep. Abominable and insulting. I'll never buy the stuff again (although I haven't for the last 30 years I do have fond memories).
  20. And I thought I was unwell. Here's hoping a flag in the next 2-3 years will ease you out of it.
  21. So true. Heaven forbid we talk to our friends. Just moronic. I hate the AFL-endorsed "game day experience".
  22. In the first instance it may not be that much, but when you keep doing it and it does not get the results you expected it's time to rethink.
  23. It's good to see Hawthorn's arrogance trip them up. Recently they have taken the view they are special enough that they can revive the careers of injury troubled high draft picks like Scully, Patton, O'Meara, and it's not really working out. In case anyone's in any doubt, that's a good thing. The bad thing is that they've those four recent flags to enjoy. Oh well.
  24. Yep. We ain't done nothin' yet. Had one good month is all.
