  1. I've had my issues with Green in the past but in the last few years he has proven himself a true Demon. There are several on our list who would do well to watch and learn from his efforts. Rolling the Pies would be a fitting tribute. Can we do it. By Friday arvo I'll be back on the "Yes we can" train.
  2. This is probably what he told them last week!
  3. Morton appears to be coming along well. Or will he get stuck in the 3-4 week vortex like Austin W did for 15 weeks last year. let's hope not.
  4. I clapped, I even had a good day at the footy. I've got myself some new blinkers. They obscure players such as Dunn (which is easy because he's plainly afraid of the contest), Miller (I have respect for efforts but I now need more), Bruce (Can't watch that anymore), Moloney (Don't rate him, never have, admire his passion, I now need more). They also automatically track players who are under 21 and show initiative and effort. Hence I sat watching the likes of Grimes, Scully, Trengove, Mckenzie give a good presentation of our future. Unfortunately my blinkers didn't shield me from Hawthorn supporters. To think we almost merged with them. Shivers run down my spine. Remember to enjoy the ride because that's all we've got.
  5. Players are working hard to execute a handball driven start to each passage of play. Our team is incredibly unsettled thanks to the continued introduction of new players and of course injuries. The passion amongst our new players is clearly evident. Grimes, Scully, Trengove, Bennell, Strauss, Frawley, Mckenzie, Spencer all have a red hot go a . Green and Jones give there all and I dare say Aaron is plenty passionate enough about this great club. Soon Watts, Morton, Garland, Wonaeamirri, Jurrah, Blease, Gysberts, Jetta and Maric will also be playing and a couple more beltings will follow. But surely you can all see the talent that is coming through. Most of these guys haven't even played half a season, let alone a couple of seasons together. Bailey is teaching them and it's going to take more than a season of playing together to come together. Do you seriously think we should just chuck the development in and go back to man on man football in an attempt to limit our losses. We are DEVELOPING a great team here, with some really special talent. I don't give a rat's what Garry Lyon or Grant Thomas or Dermot Brereton have to say and I certainly don't care what a Herald Sun journalist says. What I care about is watching our young players develop. The Bruce's, Miller's, Dunn's etc can F off know for all I care. It's the youth I'm interested in and that's exactly what Bailey is interested in too.
  6. The reason we don't kick it is because we currently are unable to handball ourselves out of trouble so as to then be able to kick it. As opposed to when we kick when it usually ends up directly with the opposition. We will however learn this over time. Stop saying we've had time to learn this. The fact remains we haven't and we are yet to get all our draftees on the park. With the players we have recruited it will come. They are extremely talented bunch who need leaders to rise from amongst them, as our current leaders are sub standard. If we had trained all summer with Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis, instead of Bruce, Dunn and Miller, I dare say the Hawthorn forum would be having this conversation and we'd be toasting our revival. Remember the likes of Scully, Grimes and Trengove will one day look up and see Watts, Jurrah and Morton presenting in the forward line, as opposed to Miller, Dunn and Petterd
  7. Exactly. And all of a sudden Bailey will be the messiah, But more to the point Bruce, McDonald, MacDonald, Dunn, Miller, Newton will all be retired.
  8. Jetta out, Garland in (who I forgot} Bennell to the wing, Garland back
  9. I changed my plans and can now make it to the first half of the game, so I'm in. I'll just keep rocking up as I've always done and have a good day at the footy with some mates. Currently my Collingwood mates hold sway but it wasn't that long ago Farmer kicked 9 in a half and it won't be that far away when the likes of Watts, Scully, Grimes and Blease are tearing the pies up. I'll say it again folks, suck it up, get to the match and support the team you know you'll barrack for for the rest of your life. There's simply not enough of us left not to.
  10. Cameron Bruce must be dropped after Saturday's performance. I know he probably won't be and in the past I have backed him. His game on Saturday, along with Bate, Dunn and Miller was so bad that no excuse could see them playing this week. If they play, which I suspect 2 of them will, 1 more bad game, which I susoect will also happen should see them banished for a month whilst the likes of Gysberts, Watts, Jetta and Maric get some game time.
  11. F Davey Green Petterd HF Sylvia Watts Trengove C Jetta Moloney Grimes HB Cheney Frawley Rivers B Bennell Warnock Strauss R Jamar Scully Mckenzie I Jones Martin Maric Gysberts Once we get pumped by Collingwood and the same senior players let us down ( I don't think the club is brave enough to drop all the older duds at once) this is the team I would like to see play round 3. The future starts now. I came to my senses overnight and left Newton out - Who was I kidding
  12. Prior to the centre circle White was AA. We lost Jolly because at the time we didn't need him. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant, since Saturday no one else has.
  13. My mum dragged me off to the footy with her friends from 1973 until 1984. I love the Demons, always will. That is unwavering. I have never almost changed clubs, in fact it has never crossed my mind. I keep rolling up in the hope that one day things will be different. There's a lot of passion and talent at the club at the moment, similar to when Northey was coach.. I have little doubt that this group will succeed. Will they win a Premiership? You just have to believe yes to that. Folks just suck it up and keep having Demon babies!
  14. He was injured in an NAB challenge match
  15. Apologies, I missed that. I think my head was firmly entrenched in my hands thus obscuring my view!
  16. We were outplayed, outcoached and out of our league yesterday. Is it the end of the world. Well no, actually it's the beginning and beginnings are usually painful. Anyone who has watched their partner give birth can attest to this. 3 years ago we were an old, injured side with no shining lights besides maybe Green and Davey. The club was broke, hadn't won a premiership in 40 years and with the introduction of 2 new clubs was, in all honesty, damn close to finished. In steps a new team, promising no quick fixes, telling us that the next few years are going to be painful but they asked for our support and if membership numbers are an indication we gave them our support. FFS our President hasn't quit and he's got cancer. Cameron Schwab knew exactly how hard this job was, so much so that he almost didn't take it. Chris Connolly bleeds for this club. You lot think you're hurting. I'll bet my life none of you are hurting as much as these 3. The facts remain that bar Green and Davey(who clearly isn't fully fit) our senior players are on par with Richmond's. However our next generation is easily the best of any club's in the league. How old are they? Well 21 or less. How long will it take to get this club back on it's feet on the field. 2 - 3 years minimum, possibly 4. The club has been totally cleaned out. No club has cleaned out it's list to such an extent without having a handful of quality senior players to lead and inspire. Imagine what Tom Scully thought as he watched senior players duck for cover time and again yesterday, meanwhile he stands in front of a leading Roughhead and backs it up by laying a tackle on Hodge. People bag Strauss for dropping a mark in the goal square. I say where's the senior player to tap him on the shoulder and tell him to let it go and get on with the next play. What about Mckenzie. He stays on the rookie list so we can pick up Joel MacDonald. He must of been wondering what was going on as time and again he laid tackles, chased and harassed whilst MacDonald ran around flaying his arms. Or how about Jack Trengove, with his clean skills and experienced demeanour watching Matthew Bate fully s--t himself when in the clear. Not to mention the efforts of our next captain, Jack Grimes. You can bet they aren't sitting around on their keyboards whining and whinging. They know the young players around them are good and they also know how satisfying it'll be when they start to push up the ladder. You want to know how I know that this will happen? Because we've recruited a bunch of determined and skilled young men who won't drop their bundle after 1 or 2 bad seasons. The admin has cleared the debt and got us into new facilities, the young players have arrived. So suck it up and get used to the fact that it's going to be a tough year. But remember, there's light at the end of the tunnel!
  17. Read my post I never said we would get 82,000 you are delusional. I firmly believed that a crowd of under 50,000 was a failure and I stand by that. The first round disappointed me enough without you misreading another of my posts and then carping on about a revenue loss. I stand by my prediction that we will get 32,000 members. We keep selling memberships until June.
  18. Great post. I'd love to see Bailey just let the senior players help out casey and put all the young recruits together and let them play for 2 or 3 years.
  19. I don't normally comment on people's ratings but how in hell does Bruce get votes for yesterday's performance. Talk about rewarding rank mediocrity
  20. I'm so over the names Dunn, Bruce, Miller and never wanted MacDonald. Spencer needs 2's time as does Bate. Moloney needs to lift as well. Hard decisions ahead
