AFLW: The Farce of the Conference System
Congratulations to Adelaide for winning the AFLW Grand Final. Without a doubt it was one of the most decisive drubbings of a second rate side in Carlton who should not have been there in the first place. The disastrous 2019 conference system was all there to be seen after Adelaide were able to beat the two top sides in B division by over 10 goals and 7 goals respectively. That's not a finals series and only served to debase the efforts of better sides in the competition. Gil is lucky there are other things going on in the media at the moment, so the scribes have completely missed this debacle.

Sam Weideman + contract
People need to get over the numbers. The AVERAGE player is from the last CBA in June 2017 is earning $371,000.

Is Zone Defence Finished?
It is not possible to read anything in terms of defensive structures from the Richmond-Collinwood game. Richmond lost Rance, their best defender. Collingwood have Cox the tallest player in the league.

Round 1 Non MFC games
Still a long way to go for Carlton, but the fact they got within 2 goals in the 3rd quarter has shown the weakness in Richmonds armour. While it was only one game Martin and Cotchin have dropped off considerably from their 2017 form, but they are still very good players. It happens with age. Cripps and Walsh really took it up to them and the clearance stats went Carltons way. It's not the 666 stuff, that is a complete furphy. If Richmond were to lose Nankervis...then they would be really stuffed. The Bloos need to get rid of those old stagers that fill their side before they can become a genuine threat. Jones, Fasolo, and Simpson are just list cloggers...but then they haven't got anyone else at the moment.

Snicko Tech for Goals
The AFL couldn't possibly go for this simple solution. An extra 2 goal umpires with eyes that can see....goodness! Much better to spend thousands of $ on untried untested audio technology and then sit some clown up in a video box reviewing everything and still getting it wrong.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAY LOCKHART
Exactly, and while I don't know the list situation at Casey, perhaps with Lockhart now a Melbourne rookie, it leaves space for them to pick up a "project" ruckman.....who was that one from Vermont who played in the game last week? Perhaps KC or Drunkn can fill us in?

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Trouble with all that era of Jags was that the huge lump of iron at the front could get the cars up to really high speeds, but the brakes were from the same era...totally inadequate for the momentum that had been developed. They could never take a corner at speed, and usually suffered severe brake fade after a couple of applications. I’m sure that has all been rectified today, but all I care is that whoever owns Jaguar is paying us loads of money to keep our football club competitive. I certainly don’t want to be in Port or St.Kildas situation hoping that chocolate milk producers are going to fork out anything substantial in sponsorship.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
I hope we can get as much support for our proposed facilities, from the Federal government ($15M) matched by the State government (another $15M) as the Lions are getting: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-01-30/lions-secure-final-15m-of-funding-for-new-training-aflw-base

Impact of rule changes
When 666 is used the "wingman" only has to be at the intersection of the square and the 50m arc. On most grounds that is less than 20 metres away from the CHB position, so it will take about 2 seconds to reach that point. The opposition will be doing the same thing, so it is unlikely to have a spare opposition player on the wing..if they do, then he will be covered by the player coming off the HFF line...it is the same distance to cover. The rule only applies to centre bounces from the time the ball is bounced to when the ruckman taps it. ....2 seconds? That is why it will NOT apply for 99.9% of the game.
-
Impact of rule changes
666 positioning will have NO effect on the game. It happens only at centre bounces, and it has been already estimated that the winger can reach the CHB position within seconds of the ball being bounced ( not when it is first taken possession). Clubs will still be able to stack the backline during the remaining 99.9% of the game. If the AFL wanted to make a serious effort it would have instituted 666 for the whole game.

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Not all it is cracked up to be. The delivery services do not make money. The company makes it from the software they sell to merchants to use their product. And not a usable product when the businesses get big. Will fail eventually.

Injury List - Season 2019
It's not surprising we have more in rehab given we went deep into September. We haven't seen this problem for years and we are not accustomed to it. Having said that, it is still not good to have so many players in that situation. But as Andy noted, the ones who were in the rehab group weren't losing fitness. Lever is probably the only one who has to come back from injury fitness wise. Every year I note this, ( and there is no scientific basis for it, just years of observation): For every week after the new Year that a player is not in full training, you can subtract a week from when they will be available in season proper. Or to put it another way, players need 3 months of full pre-season training.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
We would not be trying to move them out of the stadium, it is their occupation of the training areas in Gosch's paddock which restricts what is possible. They don't train inside. In the same way we don't train on the MCG. So like us, they have piecemeal training and administration facilities. IF...IF something better was offered to the other tenants, it would mean WE could develop ours in proximity. OR we have to move somewhere else which can accomodate an oval, which means we will not be in proximity to the MCG.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
This is probably one of the answers that avoids all of the other problems of trying to put an admin/training/club building on postage sized pieces of ground in and around the MCG/Gosch's or over roads/rail/tram lines at extraordinary expense. IF Melbourne Victory, or Rebels/Storm were to vacate to bigger and new facilities themselves, then one of the two training fields that are currently permanently set up for Rugby or Soccer is free. Voila!..... room to build something right in Gosch's, alongside Olympic Boulevard without massive cost, tree removal or locals getting their knickers in a knot. So where could they be convinced to go? There is space down alongside Docklands-Marvel that we were rumoured to be interested in some time ago. Would be more enticing to certainly the Soccer crowd, especially with games played regularly at that location.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
The Yarra Park proposal was always going to be problematic, and a compromise particularly for Office and Admin space. I don't understand why we have not been mentioned in association with the Caulfield racecourse development..... https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/guy-first-out-of-barriers-with-pledge-to-open-up-caulfield-racecourse-20181007-p5089l.html More space, no limitations on use, community involvement, part of the Demons heartland.... And it could make ProDee doubly happy if his mob get up.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
After 200+ pages, ain't this the truth about what is holding this process up. As Ouch has pointed out the CEO....the CEO!!! is doing the negotiations in the public domain......imagine PJ coming out during trade period saying we will or will not accept XYZ for a particular player! Bell is Football manager and now he is doing the negotiations after being there for 5 minutes! It's all well and good for everyone to surmise what will/will not be a good/suitable trade, but if you don't know who you are really trading with, it makes the job almost impossible. To top it off Freo has pick 6 at the moment. Their next pick is 80! There is no way they can improve their position for next year, so asking for their next years first rounder may be a piece of true inspiration.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
WIth the change to the goal square next season, it will almost become necessary to have 2 talls( rucks) on either wing at kick ins. It will be a bonus if one of them can play forward as well. Once the ball goes down one side, the opposite will have to work hard to get back to provide an additional target, or go the other way and defend. Either way you will need 2 really mobile talls( rucks). One Max will not be enough to cover the whole ground and provide a target as well as actually ruck. The important thing is to get someone like Preuss, as he fulfills all the NEEDS for the next season, as well as a backup ruck role. Mumford, Roughead and Casboult don't have the tanks.
