  1. Great post. Re your last point, I think so and hope so.
  2. Lol So what tools was young Lance missing as a junior? This will be fun, you argue so well.
  3. Cale Morton, Jordan Gysberts and Lucas Cook have taught me something about recruiting AFL players. While all three did well as junior players they all had some serious physical and psychological deficiencies that prevented them from becoming senior AFL footballers and more importantly owning a position. These were evident as juniors. You don't recruit players, particularly with high picks with these serious deficiencies in the hope that they will improve.
  4. Surveillance devices act, depends on whether the recording device was external to phone or not from memory..
  5. Depending on how it was obtained the actual recording of the phone conversation could be a problem. In which case it will never be admitted or see the light of day.
  6. It's a matter of opinion. There wouldn't be too many non Melbourne supporters who would agree with you on those three players. You might be able to make a case for Jimmy. He didn't take a lot of contested Mark's and played as a linkman. He was a high possession winner, consistent and durable. His possessions were usually gained outside and his disposals consisted of many handpasses and dinky little passes. A very effective player as you say ans a great of the club but not a star. We are so starved of stars in our recent history that some tend to elevate some of our better players beyond the level of what they were. It's understandable. As for longevity it's most definitely a factor.
  7. I would agree. Stynes lacked hurt factor, Farmer consistency and Jakovich longevity.
  8. A better alternative than Prendergast/Bailey and would have saved the club some coin.
  9. Attempting to execute Malthouse methods without Malthouse abilities and without being backed by Malthouse credibility.
  10. Yes many tend to see these things in black and white, with the benefit of hindsight Neeld is now portrayed as a bumbling [censored] who had no idea and is now not fit to coach the local U12s. The tendency is for many to jump to prejudicial conclusions on uncorroborated information. He failed in some key areas, but he succeeded in others, as did Bailey. Neither had the all round skills and management ability to be a senior coach at AFL level. Likewise James Magner is a gutsy strongly built, slow, ball winner with average disposal. Simply not AFL standard and little upside.
  11. I like this side, but still slow and no line breakers across half back. Also no speedsters on the bench and quick half backs will tear us up running the other way. I see Clisby in the 18 across half back and there is a role for a quick defensive forward in that side as you have stated. It is certainly is going to be a challenge getting the mix right. The side on paper at least has a lot more physicality and class than it did in 2014. With a fit list there may even be some competition for midfield spots.
  12. There always needs to be a basket case club. St Kilda has taken our place as such as Roos comes to helm at the MFC.
  13. Mate same if you have a crap list.. sheesh!
  14. EFA
  15. Ok, not sure where to go with that to be honest. Who'd have thought good footballers were unnecesary to premierships and that a good administration is all you need. Moving right along....
  16. I thought we were debating your point. You know this one. "Surely it's time to move on from Morton, Gysberts and Cook. It's not their selection that have led us to where we are. They are a side show." It's wrong, it is our failure at the draft among several other failures that have brought us to this point. Not sure that it is really refutable.
  17. 2 very big reasons for thier 2 flags.
  18. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
  19. You need to point out the successes as well as the failures to present a balanced argument. With Hawthorn from the top of my head, Franklin, Roughead, Rioli, Hodge. Drafting duds isn't the sole reason for our failure, but it's a mighty substantial one.
  20. Viagra. The hardest team to play against.

  22. The 3 minutes of footage I saw vs the 6 minutes that he saw. Get a grip people.
  23. That's just called wilful stupidity Ron.
  24. Mistakes are always a good idea at the time.
