  1. According to Courtney Walsh in today's Australian the AFL "will sanction West Coast despite the club's decision to sack former skipper Ben Cousins before he appears in a Perth court today to face drugs charges." - EAGLES PAY PRICE FOR COUSINS "... commission chairman Mike Fitzpatrick issued a serious warning to the club during an extraordinary meeting with West Coast's leadership group and officials in April that any further misbehaviour would result in a hefty penalty. 'The Eagles have been put on notice that if they appear before the commission again, they will be subject to the full force of the 1.6 rule of conduct unbecoming, which can lead to a fine, suspension, loss of draft picks or premiership points,' Fitzpatrick said at the time."
  2. One of the main differences between Geelong of 2006 and Geelong of 2007 was their general fitness. It was quite clear during '06 that a lot of players weren't able to see out games and they sacked their fitness coach during the season. A far better grounding saw them come out far better prepared mentaly and physically this year. Next season's Melbourne will have a new coaching panel, different training methods and a number of changes in the team's make up. A lot of players will be coming back from injury. We'll be a different proposition in 2007.
  3. I said that? Must have been talking in my sleep again!
  4. Johnson (David) Police say they used capsicum spray to subdue and arrest a Geelong AFL footballer following an incident outside a nightclub in the Victorian city early today. The Geelong club said defender David Johnson, who is not in tomorrow’s AFL grand final team but played last week in the club’s VFL premiership side, was involved in the incident.
  5. Great story... Hope you get to live your dream Garth!!!
  6. how do you value a player who's played 2 games in 3 years on an AFL list?
  7. neither does the reporter...it's old news regurgitated...
  8. I think he's telling us that this afternoon's game against Carlton is a bit of joke. A stuped joke with a big cap S!
  9. The papers are ALL saying Bailey is our man. Therefore no Sheeds, no money and no Pickett!
  10. Dockers must think highly of Campbell - they've just re-signed him - http://footygoss.com/main/club_news/freman..._sign_campbell/
  11. The very words that epitomise what conservatism is all about.
  12. Trent Cotchin kicked three goals and was named among the best for Penleigh Essendon Grammar School in its five goal win against Parade College. PEGS have made the grand final of the Herald Sun shield and they play St. Josephs College as a curtain raiser to Carlton v Collingwood on Saturday week.
  13. Collingwood delisted him at the end of his career He wone a Brownlow when he was at his best. Give the guy a break!
  14. Pre game there was some discussion between Garry Lyon and Danny Frawley about the vacant coaching position at Melbourne. These two are on the panel to help with the appointment. Frawley didn't discount the possibility of a young with time to develop the team over a period. He said we don't win ugly and the players don't hurt enough. We have a mature list and our younger players in their opinion are not superstars. There was no discussion on Mark Riley and the only talk about Chis Connolly centred on a caller's question which was neatly sidestepped.
  15. I think a fair amount of credit should be given to Mark Riley for the team's performance. I think he gave his younger players the encouragement they needed to step up by his positional moves. The confidence he showed for eg in Frawley by putting him on Waite was one example. Some of his moves were made faster and better than Daniher ever would. It's early doors but I noticed the difference.
  16. The commentators on "On the Couch" last night bagged Fremantle for playing with a lack of passion and a lack of commitment. Gerrard Healy nodded his head in agreement. What they were saying in effect was that Connolly couldn't get his team up emotionally for an all-important season breaking game against Sydney. I don't see how we could select him as a coach after that or how Healy ould even recommend him. On the Channel 9 programme, which I though ws a bit of shambles in comparison to OTC, the panel led by Caro seemed to acknowledge that Caaaaalton was very, very interested in Michael Voss and that Voss would sooner go to the Blues than the Dees. No reason given but I'd suggest that the answer might hve something to do with the balance in Dick Pratt's cheque account.
  17. Agreed. It's time for everybody whose heart beats true to start looking to the future and, contrary to what the doomsayers are stating, we do have a future and it's a good one.
  18. Sandy has a bye this week so Frawley plays nowhere man!
  19. Is there any chance you can get an unemployed talking horse into the storyline?
  20. One junior club out Camberwell way is a potential breeding ground for young Demons. According to Scot Palmer in his Punchlines column in the Sunday Hun, Garry Lyon has been appointed to coach the Camberwell Sharks Under 11's. His son Tom will be in the team while other Lyons in the Sharks' club are Ben (U13) and Josh ("the little tackers"). Hopefully, in 10 years time we will have drafted all three under the father/son rule.
