  1. Granted but in the case where you are using your last selection for a list of 40 someone's talent might far outweigh a couple of indiscretions and it might be that you're prepared to bite the bullet and pick him. Steve Johnson was a case in point 2 years ago. Collingwood would have taken him despite his off-field problems but they thought his ankle was stuffed. Hasn't missed a game through injury since.
  2. They're all dedicated Melbourne people who would like to see us doing something other than languishing at the bottom of the pile and being regarded as a debt ridden basket case.
  3. Pretty general stuff about some of the names in the draft. Last week they covered the Victorian draftees of who they highlighted the main names such as Watts, Vickery, Roughead and Sidebottom (the player who kicked 10 goals in the TAC Cup Grand Final. Also mentioned Corey McKernan's brother as a possinle late first round/early second round pick which puts him on our radar. Also mentioned Ziebell as a potential gun midfielder who will go early. Last night they spoke about draft picks from SA and WA. It's all a lot of names and I don't think these blokes know any more than what all of us can read on the internet.
  4. Had no pressure on him all game. Played well but you can't make him top 3 on one performance.
  5. You have more chance of being right with pick 19 than with pick 1.
  6. - http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/pies...9516667967.html be careful what you say when interviewed by the media
  7. Well it wasn't Aussie's dad he was sitting next to a Subi, that's for sure.
  8. Is it true that Jimmy and Watts Senior sat together at the Dockers game yesterday?

  10. Technically no because that was not a criminal charge. He has now been charged under summons and faces a custodial term if found guilty. In those circumstances he would become a criminal. Although his name has certainly taken a pounding I doubt whether he'll ever share a cell with Tony Mokbel.
  11. The return of Nick Malceski after radical ACL surgery which included installing a synthetic ligament into his knee has been quite incredible. He blitzed last night with 28 touches and two goals and without him the Swans would almost certainly have tasted defeat last night. As incredible as the surgery is the fact that he was able to make the return by going straight into the senior side without having to find form in lower grades as is usually the case with players from most clubs including ours. I know the injuries are different but Ricky Petterd who was injured several weeks after Petterd, is coming back through the Zebra reserves today. Matty Bate played one game in the Sandy ressies and two in the seniors before he could get back into the side. That makes Malceski's comeback even more extraordinary!
  12. I beg to differ. These days what was once a legal hip and shoulder can land you in hot water if you hit the other player's head. If he happens to be lowering his head at the momen you make contact it could me a four week holiday. Our game is slowly becoming a non contact sport.
  13. I wouldn't take much notice of the best players named in most of the aligned VFL clubs but FWIW I was told by someone who was there that while he was good, he was no better than half a dozen others on a day in which Sandy dominated the bottom side. Matthew Bate should be the one promoted & possibly Benny Holland.
  14. And if we kick arse today they'll focus their attention on someone else. That's how it goes.
  15. Worth an appearance to see the Dees 08 and 150 off the ground.
  16. As a coach in junior footy I'm forever telling players not to be the heroes and kick the goals. When I do that I'm trying to teach the players in the midfield not to crowd the attack but to leave it to the guys in the forward line to kick the goals. What's the official doing eavesdropping on what the coach says anyway. It's Roos' busineess and the Swans as to how he coaches the team. The AFL and the media should bugger off!
  17. Hawthorn: Muston (knee), Boyle (ankle). Small fish are sweet but there's a long way to go before their unavailability list matches ours.
  18. Why is there so much hate in the world?
  19. Just wondering if anyone knows whether they still pick the best player available in the rookie draft or do they go for needs?
  20. Good interview but it really doesn't throw very much light on who the Demosn will pick at #4.
  21. I wonder how much the Eagles would be influenced by the "go home" factor now that they've had the effect of the Chri$ Judd defection? Life might be easier for them to go for the kid from their own back yeard rather than someone who might not be happy about moving half way across the continent.
  22. On the other hand if the Fonze remains consistent it won't be any year soon. According to this report in the West Australian, it's been going on for years and the Eagles have ignored it - Eagles accused of drugs cover up. Same goes for this one - Early warning of an Eagles' fall. So why even bother with sanctions if its' been going on for so long and nobody bothered to do anything about it before? And the WCE will be immune to tough action from the AFL? Of course, that's reserved for clubs that breach the salary cap or whose players have a punt with a bookie or on the TAB.
