  1. The problem's not at our end mate. I'm running 15 mg down and 2 up and the feed is as shocking for me as anyone else.
  2. Media Release Viney returns to Melbourne The Melbourne Football Club is pleased to announce former Club captain Todd Viney as its new General Manager - Player Development. Viney, who played 233 matches for Melbourne from 1987-1999 - the tenth most in the Club’s history - returns after a successful coaching career with Hawthorn and Adelaide. Viney will report to General Manager – Football, Chris Connolly, and will work closely with senior coach Dean Bailey and General Manager - List Management, Tim Harrington on building the premiership model. Viney will oversee the operations of the Club’s overall player development programs, including the academy with Kelly O’Donnell, and personal development with Ian Flack. He will also work closely with conditioning coaches to ensure the development of the players’ physical skills are consistent with longer term objectives in the context of the Premiership Model. Chris Connolly said, “Todd’s appointment to this senior role will help us ensure we give all our players a development framework that will set them up for long and successful careers with the Melbourne Football Club. In particular, the next three to four years will be a critical development period for many of our emerging young players.” Todd Viney said, “I’m really ecstatic to be returning to the Club at such an exciting time. Jim, the board, and everybody at the Club have done an amazing job in revitalising it over the last couple of years. I look forward to assisting the Club to move forward in its quest to deliver the Melbourne members, supporters and past players a thirteenth premiership, and to consistently challenge for AFL premierships over a sustained period of time”. Previously coach of Victorian country team Moama, Viney became an assistant coach with Hawthorn from between 2004 and 2008, and was a member of the brown and gold’s premiership coaching staff in 2008. Viney then returned to his native South Australia, where he became an assistant coach at Adelaide from 2009 to 2010. During his career with Melbourne, he captained the Club from 1998 to 1999, and played for South Australia and Australia in representative football. He won the Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy as Best and Fairest twice, in 1993 and 1998. Viney was also named in Melbourne’s Team of the Century, is a member of the Club’s Hall of Fame, and in 2008 was named one of the red and blue’s 150 Heroes. Viney will commence his role with the Club in early November 2010.
  3. Really? Also saw this on AFL blog: "Port Adelaide has just tweeted that it looks like it will be involved late in the piece ... still sorting through details of a trade"
  4. Anyone know why we'd do that? On trade 52 for someone?
  5. The first time it happened last night Junior didn't see him. Shame, as he was on going to Punt Rd end. The 2nd time Dunn backed himself to kick the goal, which he did, so no qualms. Watts was going to be on a worse angle than Dunn anyway. No big issue I don't think. He will impose himself more in time, and he will get looked for more in time. He is good at finding space but he also calls for the ball constantly even when he is not in a great position. I'm sure he'll work on it over pre-season.
  6. Yep, three goals when Franklin was in Coleman winning form when we were on the bottom of the ladder. I repeat, Garland has done the job on him before.
  7. Garland has stopped Franklin before. I see no reason why the job won't fall to him again.
  8. Yeah mate, a lot of us have considered that, we are just in the minority, lol. Thankfully, the coaching staff are with us.
  9. Yep, ruck situation is looking poor. Happy with the rest of the list.
  10. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/95890/default.aspx
  11. Exactly, and that's the first thing Brent mentioned when quizzed in the interview OP is referring too.
  12. How do you expect the forward line to compete when we are so [censored] poor across the ground that it is 2 on 5 every time we haphazardly bomb the ball in there?
  13. It's not an instruction, it's just the way the game is played in today's football when you're six goals down and it's pissing with rain.
  14. Thanks for the updates KC. Fantastic news the Scorps had a win, and very pumped for Dunn to get 8.
  15. Yep, have woken up feeling like this is our day. I've got us straight out into Cats by 25+ and Freo by 16+. C'mon Dees.
  16. Alba in a canter. Not that I don't rate Portman... but c'mon... it's Jessica Alba...
