  1. Maybe send him a proven coach..I hear Bailey is available.
  2. The green experiment is on hold. Given what I saw last week, he needs to go back and find his form and spark again int he reserves..hopefully bounce back strong in a few weeks.
  3. From view from Paterson was happier than the same game last year, which I think we lost by less. TIN passages we moved the ball well and players ran to the right positions(can't see that on tv) but we can't at the moment actually hit our players with the ball. I think the first quarter there was 6 out on the full coming out of defence. And those weren't players under direct pressure, just couldn't hit a spot in the ground..this also occurred int he field kicking, landing at the feet of leading players, particularly through the middle, killing any run we had, as players stopped to gather and then were pressured. If they can't do a daisy cutter, just put it up in front, pretty basic. Often we would be first to the ball in stoppages but the sharp skills to move it out to advantage aren't there yet against a quality side, they simply took it off us and broke away. In comparison to training on the Friday in Perth, the full ground movement looked smooth, so its a game day mental problem. I've been a fan of green, but on the weekend, he looked old and slow. Either he finds some speed or tries to find a stay at home fwd line position, sad unfortunately. Otherwise some of the decision making was pretty bad. In saying that, in general play we matched the eagles for over half a game in effort, but free kicks more missed on our side 20-1..half time...made the job harder for the boys. Hoepfully the return in rd 23 will bring a long awaited live victory for wa supporters.
  4. Interesting article in the paper today. Demons' recruiters beaten by the press Basically we recruited well as the time but the game changed ie press, and that changed the sort of player clubs need. We need strong bodied hard players, not fast light players...keep feeding those boys
  5. read the article, nothing really in it, he's more lamenting our decline since the 60's. As for the recruiting, the comments were made by a Melbourne supporter, dennis was repeating them. The comment was that we don't have any "special" players. Davy used to be one when he first arrived, but it was somehow trained out of him? The difference with our picks and others is the development environment they enter and the culture they take on. This is finally changing at the MFC. The lack of hard nosed senior players since the late nighties has slowed down team development, first by the favouritism of daniher in the later years and then bailey being too soft not eh players (from an outsiders perspective) it can be fixed in the very near future. anyway off to watch the boys train at 9.30am at Claremont oval in the morning with the kids.
  6. It will be interesting free agency, I think most will stay with their adopted clubs, simply by looking at the retention of interstate players who stay despite big offers to 'come home". The longer a player has been at a club, assuming its the right environment the less likely he'll leave. Bit like any career lots of people take a job with less money if everything else ticks the box. As being paid lots and have a crap time isn't fun.
  7. colesy Stynes passing -- WTF - the great man died after fighting cancer for almost three years. Its not negative on the club, its what has happened and what followed has made the club proud.
  8. Good decision by the club. The timing is bad, but what can we do. I expect the "2nd" Sponsor to be announced pretty quick. Polis is a complete [censored].
  9. No idea what is wrong with davey, but its gotten to a point that he need to be dropped and told to find form, simple as that.
  10. Haven't sent he game being in WA with no foxtel. But heard(radio) and read enough. I watched the press conference. Pretty simple, he was [censored], i mean really [censored], you could see it in his face. He was sort of diplomatic but basically heads are going to roll this week. The question is who. As for bringing in casey battlers, we want players with the heart and grunt to fight for the ball, its amazing how some chart can overcome difference in ability if the whole team works together. I doubt the game plan is the problem, its only slow and predictable if the players don't commit to making it work, pies won a premiership with a slow predictable game plan, the hawks game plan is predictable, and so on I mean teams spend days dissecting opposition game plans. Its how the players embrace it and work for each other...that is our problem, and its been our problem since the the late danniher years. Anyway going to the game next weekend, and in no way do I want a repeat of last years game against the eagles.
  11. Loved juniors hit...classic footy.
  12. overall the afl and Demetriou have grown the game to put it in a strong position, while still protecting the weaker clubs including us. there are lots of things i don't agree with him and the commission but the overall plan is working.
  13. Extremely sad news when I read the article...may god help in whatever lays ahead for him and his family, and we pray for the best.
  14. The way I interpret is, is that it gives the young new players 12 months to settle in and concentrate on being at a AFL, to many a rude shock from what they have previously experience. Therefore the best opportunity for them to succeed in the long run. Going to Uni etc, one yera later once they have a good work routine will actually be better, and whats graduating a year later if your playing footy for 10 yrs on a great wage. As for sports science, there is not much you can do with 17/18 yr olds anyway as they are still growing.
  15. reading the article, MM is right. You need more than talent, your need the drive to push harder. He didn't say cloke was better, but he worked harder on the track and harder on the field. People have have said similar things and they are true. Personally Bailey and co. were too soft on what they wanted the players to do. Already we have seen a change in the team attitude and I think we have the staff to develop watts into a great player if he wants it.
  16. A good place to start is here: http://www.westerndemons.com/ Given our change in style, a win isn't far away at Subi,,,remember we won at ethiad for the first time ever? last week. is it ever, or at least as long as I can remember. See you at the game.
  17. "Elite players cannot be tagged out of a game. Elite players can destroy an opposition single handedly Elite players are rare." Pretty close I reckon. Basically an elite player can win a game for his side. Last elite player for us was Garry Lyon, who could win us a game by himself when he needed to. And I'm not talking about kicking a bag of goals.
  18. Yeah Essendon forfeited - in the amateurs if that happens the the team present, gets the points and a 10 goal win for percentage. I mean the saints got there with no problems. I'm sure their would have been an airport close by they could have gone too and then bused. Maybe they're scared of the rain since they play inside all the time now!
  19. He owned the Joondalup shopping centre pharmacy, sold it when he moved to Carlton...they interviewed him there a few times on the TV, In his white pharmacist uniform... But recreational drugs don't do the same as performance enhancing. simply they won their flag with the right players at the right time, against a team they could be (just)... as for last year, simply their older players having bumpers years, similar to us in Dannihers first year..last to prelim...bit of experience and a bit of youth.
  20. gee....what a terrible result..oh we won!! Only listened on the radio and their were generally pretty happy with the dees effort. Next two games with more normal rules will be a better judge and both at Ethiad so a decent ground 9as far as the place goes), and should set us up better for round one than in previous years. Though I'm surprised we didn't push for a casey game in one of the two following rounds as a promotion. Magner and seller sounded like good additions on top of clarke.
  21. Interesting article... No pressure in his first year "collingwood president expects nathan buckley to deliver flag first up" http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/collingwood-president-expects-nathan-buckley-to-deliver-flag-first-up/story-e6frf9jf-1226280287764 Basically if the pies don't win a flag this year Buckely has FAILED as the coach. I think eddie is going to kill his golden boy.
  22. With the news, lots of Melbourne footage from the $cully draft.
  23. Given he ordered it in his own name, I would assume he thought they were legal otherwise he would have had a mate/family member etc do it on his behalf to cover his tracks....
