The Other Preliminary Final

The Other Preliminary Final
The pies are playing above themselves tonight, hard to do that 2 weeks in a row as it takes a lot out of the team mentally and physically. We have been consistent for the last 4 games.

The Other Preliminary Final
Yeah I hate it, no games just before finals..gives advantage to the lower teams to refresh for the next set of games.

The Other Preliminary Final
Like us the pies have improved their gameplay over the season, like us they are peaking at the right time. Almost a parallel development. We can't match and surpass them.

The Other Preliminary Final
But can the pies sustain or hold this lead? History says no and tigers are good in the seance half. Should be interesting.

Jason Taylor getting the nod
Great article on his journey and his approach. I find it interesting the importance of Todd Viney in developing his skills in the role. I see Viney having a strong influence on our list management.

Who's going to Perth?
I’m spewing as I live in Perth, go to every seed game in n Perth, but in Japan running a school tour. I would share my seats but the codes are back in Perth. Does anyone know an online service to watch the game from Japan. The afl app does not work here.

Mark Neeld
I find the enlightens his desire to get a senior job he didn’t really look whether the club suited his style. that is important as well, some coaches need to fit the club culture too. He know realises he should have waited for a club that was a better fit for him. He was a disaster to us, but he was the face of it, not the whole problem.

Our workrate
Just click I saw on Garry Lyon and co. analysing our workmate from the weekend game. Goodwin also highlighted it so its squarely on the players to work harder for the whole game. https://www.news.com.au/video/id-5348771529001-5804318002001/melbournes-horror-workrate-exposed

Great news for jack, been an emergency for weeks so he finally got his chance.

Andrew Gaff
i remember that being mentioned years ago now. But in modern footy it does not mean as much anymore unless your name is Howe...

Millionaire Ex-Demon
All business need luck or "fluke" to in the right place at the right time, and this does happen to many people, but the success comes from the hard work to build that opportunity into wealth.

Millionaire Ex-Demon
Nice success story for one of our ex-players. Joel McDonald. http://www.news.com.au/sport/sports-life/footy-star-turns-booze-business-into-200m-giant/news-story/ee601d48ad4a4708b70af3b2412c86ce

The Urge to Merge
"You wouldn't have had to. As Don Scott famously showed . It was a Melbourne jumper with a yellow hawk on the front. Make no mistake , we weren't merging. We were taking over." Some interesting discussion, including the above. To be honest I voted fro the merger, simply because we would have become the Melbourne hawks...given we have changed our nickname a few times in the past, it wasn't a deal breaker. We were still ging to be the Melbourne footy club, as at the time we were the stronger party by far. The club was looking tot he future and were in a good position at the time, it was before the TV rights bonanza, which met the growing salary cap. And I think the AFL should pay for this will all the clubs, who manage how they spend it etc, but then the clubs raise money themselves for the training and support facilities. As for the future, we are in the best position financially for as long as I can remember and I believe we will continue to grow. As for infighting since Norm Smith, there was infighting in Norm's time, just you had a very successful period that held the club together and a very strong individual.

Your Top 5 Demons Players of All Time
Its a bloody hard thing to narrow down to 5 Who I have seen in my time: 1. Robbie Flower - none better 2. Garry Lyon - could win a game by himself ion willlpower 3. Sean Wight - lved his desperation 4. David Schwartz - pre knee injuries the best but loved him afterward 5. Stephen Tingay - flying wingman whose career was cruelly ended when we needed him most, imagine a fully fit Tingay in 2000. Lots of honorable mentions do I wont bother as it would be a pretty big list, as the above were great to watch over most of their career while others had a great purple patch over a few years, normally at the end, such as Anthony Ingernson who found his niche near the end.
