PREGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
These changes take me back to the forward line that looked lost and uncompetitive at ground level. I would love to be proved wrong but i just don’t see us being able to compete at ground level with those selected.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
The inherent need for references of the candidate opens the door to leaks. The AFL approved choice was overlooked and look at who first reported this story.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
Paul Guerra has been selected per Caroline Wilson. Strong commerce background. Minimal footy.

Training Ground?
Kanga isn’t keen on anything which doesn’t have his name and head as the show piece of it. The progress made is with the Racecourse Trust, Glen Eira Council and the school.
-
Training Ground?
My educated guess would be a vague update in the next 4 weeks followed by a more thorough update around June/ July.
-
Training Ground?
Yes. There has been some funding approved at federal level for the project which would need to be re-tendered should the the coalition form government.
-
Training Ground?
Update: Strong progress made on key stakeholder buy in and internal funding guarantees however some funding models will need to be re-tendered post the federal election.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
There’s a two tier leadership model. Gawn Viney Lever Petracca and Salem are the officially leadership group. Sparrow, Rivers, Chandler and McVee are the emerging leaders group.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
May will come back in for Turner. Like others have said, I don’t want him taking kick outs. McVee for Sharp, Koltyn as sub.

Time to give Howes a fair go
There was a time in the pre season before this current one where Howes was playing around the footy and Chaplin told me he had looked a bit like Chad Warner with his explosiveness. With some confidence, hopefully we see him live his true athleticism.

Time to go Goody?
who would of thought our 50+ year drought breaking premiership coach would leave with nothing. Simon, us supporters have nothing for you. It’s over. You were able to find something in the Hub when others were down, but all in all you cannot outcoach almost all others. Thank you and we wish you well.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Having lived through a forward 6 that included Sellars, Rodan, Gillies, Blease, Byrnes and a very raw Watts, I would beg to differ. Though I do understand where you are coming from and I do agree but I’m looking for effort and intent over what i’m seeing at the moment.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
My forward 7 for this game would be: JVR, Johnson, Melksham, Fullarton, K.Brown, Mentha, Chandler. Enough strength to mark the football. Enough pressure to keep it in. It may lack the smarts/ class but that has not worked. A different look. It cannot be any worse. Do it SIMON!

Tom Fullarton
if JVR had sharper foot skills, I think he'd go well in the back half.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Clayton has [censored] many off, and whilst his standards have improved, the scars take time to heal. Christian has grown apart from the club. It seems he has different interests now to what he once did when he was close with his teammates. The club will look back and wonder where it all went so so wrong after having these players seemingly elated to represent the club and happy to commit on long term deals. My two cents is that what happened with Gus has had a more profound impact on the entire club than we know. He was the glue that held the playing group together. A perfect team mate.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
Was told by an internal source last night that 4 current club CEO’s said no before even a chat or interview and that interviews took place in the week before last.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Did our ability to attack leave the city with Darren Burgess? Kozzys heart is in WA. Christian doesn’t like his team mates. Clayton isn’t liked by his team mates. Max is in no man’s land. The coach is in denial. A sad state of affairs.

Time to go Goody?
Most ever recorded uncontested marks conceded against in a game tonight. Zach Guthrie himself 17 marks. Trac isn’t happy. Clayton isn’t happy. Max isn’t himself. Several players have regressed. We thank you for the ride in 2018. We thank you for the 2021 flag but it is time to go, Simon.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
This is the flattest I’ve felt by a defeat since 2019 and that’s not because it was our worst performance (Freo away at Alice far worse) but because you just know it was the end of an era for some. Important we don’t overreact after one game, however, Goody has had this whole pre season to work on our shape moving forward and how we deliver into the forward half. It’s as bad as it ever was. The best sides (hawthorn, gws, Collingwood) link up with chain running, overlap and handball precision which creates space for the forwards to work and options for the midfielders to kick to. The outcome is you have your forwards split, and your smalls get to the fall. Right now, all teams have worked out if you let us have the forward half territory we happen to enjoy, it makes us easier to break when you transition back the other way. And so now it’s important we do something different. We cannot continue to keep drawing blood from this stone. The stone is completely dry. Over to you Goody - we know you can motivate but can you coach, can you innovate, can you teach these guys to see the field differently? My heart says no.

Farewell Judd McVee
Had word this was completed for a two year contract extension around October of last year. I wonder what changed it's course. Hopefully it's official soon. Judd is brilliant and it's great to see him happy at the club and in Melbourne.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
I believe we were at a point where Fox had some interest before being tapped up for a position at AFL HQ. We like Sam Graham at Brisbane. He may not be quite ready. McCartney may not have the commercial acumen. If Chippindall stays and works under him, that could suffice but i'm sure we require a more rounded Chief Executive Officer.
