WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Redleg replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
It appears that Port, Saints and the Dogs, have asked for top up players and for the AFL to make the Bombers pay for their suspended players. We are noticeable by our absence on both fronts. I wonder what our tack is? -
The X Files are back on Ten. Talk about conspiracy theories in the AFL.

The combined Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia Thread

The funny thing is that, IMO, we are in the position to offer GC all our main draft picks, plus the first in the next year, if we wanted both of these boys. Subject to them being fit to play of course. Not saying we would do this, but we could if necessary, as we have enough young players on the list and the rookie choices would still be there to be used if we still wanted a couple more youngsters. IMO we now have a fair list and adding these two would be the cream on the cake. We could use one late pick, to take the 3rd player required to be added in each year. -
Just to change the subject a little, next saturday sees a day of past Melbourne games on Fox Footy. I will have something to say about them a bit later on.

BBO is right at home with grunters and screamers.

Saturday Talking Point: Gillon McLachlan has lost the plot
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry Deanox, it was a joke. The 2 clubs would have been Tigers and Hawks, who would get the Brownlow, if Jobe lost it. -
And Serena gets rolled.
-
I didn't, I am smiling.
-
How is the weather up there, have the storms stopped?
-
Don't be unfair, he could play, but was cruelled by several injuries. He was also tough. Two attributes not held by Cook.
-
Is it time to raise Lucas Cook again?
-
Given Mark is already on the Bombers payroll and may want to stay in Victoria, he is less likely to go to Port.

Agree. The standard of AFL administration in the last few years has been poor. -

Jack, the AFL has already consulted the other clubs on the Brownlow and the result was 16 to retain it and 2 to lose it. I will let you work out who the 2 are . -

In the few Casey games I saw, Jamar was incapable of hitting the ball to a Casey player and was immobile and ineffective around the ground as well. Just hope Gawn stays fit. If not we go with Spencer and pinch hit with with Pedo and the two Kings, who I know are not ready yet, but can at least get to a contest. -
Trouble is you would have to draft him the next year before the other clubs.
-
It is odd, but I don't think one rookie, for one year only, will make a huge difference to our fortunes. It may be an advantage for Casey though.
-
Sun today said he was suffering from "anxiety and depression". If true, it can be debilitating and very distressing.
-
Nice horse?
-
I don't care about the Tigers chasing him, I just disagree that a fit JT is easily in our best 22 ATM. He hasn't played for 2 years and we have improved our list. He needs more than fitness, he needs to show in games for Casey that he is in our best 22. I hope he can, but I disagree that merely by getting fit, he is in our 22.

Not sure that is a given, with the new players we have brought in. We will see.

When is the next training session in Melbourne? Presume it's after the tennis has finished.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Redleg replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't worry about Selwood's stats when you discuss him. It would be fair to say he has played under worse ruckmen than Jones and it is not his team mates giving him the ball, that sees him starring, but rather his grabbing it himself and taking the game on. Selwood is a true star of the game and would be one, playing for any team. I don't think Pro Dees post is really about whether Jones is as good as Selwood, but rather that we need our young mids to kick on, with some of them becoming stars. -

And an important one it is. -
Disagree. We are now doing what the good sides do, giving talented young players time, to develop their bodies and game.
