Illness strikes journalist Jesse Hogan (not the footballer)
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. -
Pre-match thread: NAB Challenge Game 2 - Western Bulldogs v Melbourne
Redleg replied to Chelly's topic in Melbourne Demons
Personally I would like to see Gawn rested and then played in NAB 3, which allows him a break to round 1. Unfortunately we would have only Pedersen and Frost but I could live with that for this game. -
Gone and forgotten.

As I have said before, calf injuries can be career ending for older players. They just seem to re occur.

Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)
Redleg replied to Wealthy bigpennies's topic in Melbourne Demons
Correct but there are rules against driving players into the ground. I have watched it a number of times now and Hartlett jumped off the ground and into Brayshaw's back, driving him into the ground. He also pinned Brayshaw's right arm, as he took him down, with his weight on Brayshaw's back. Could easily have knocked Brayshaw out, if he landed head first, or led to a neck or collarbone injury. I thought it was worse than the Oliver incident. Then again I am only a whinging Dees supporter, who in the past has been outraged at a broken jaw suffered by Sylvia, off the ball and yet the Eagle player responsible walked free. -
I recall someone pushing Mrs. Redleg out of the way, it must have been you.

Went to the family day with Mrs. Redleg, our daughter and grand daughter number 1. Biggest crowd at a Dees family day in the last few years.

Does Jesse like bananas?

I predict another 1000 pages on this topic.

Pre-match thread: NAB Challenge Game 1 - Port Adelaide v Melbourne

That's it. Old Dee has been kidnapped and you are an imposter. Return him to Demonland now. We want our pessimistic Old Dee back. -
Pre-match thread: NAB Challenge Game 1 - Port Adelaide v Melbourne
Redleg replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Here are a few of reasons. They have played a NAB game already. They will be fielding a very strong side and we won't, with a number of our good players out. It is over there. That said who cares, I want no injuries and a good performance. -

Yes 2.00 PM live on Fox Footy. -
I am not so sure of that. We have plenty of players to play up forward and IMO, he will get bursts on the ball and then be rotated off the bench. Leaving out the talls like Jesse, Frost, Watts, Dawes and Pedersen, we have the likes of Kent, Garlett, JKH, Harmes, ANB, VDB, Stretch, Kennedy and the new kid Petracca, among others to fit in up forward. I see the talent of Oliver at this stage, being in his burst play, not his marking or opportunistic goal scoring.

He was taken as being our Brayshaw of last year's draft. So far he appears to be living up to it.

Intraclub Practice Match - Friday 19th February, 2016
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Both of Frost and Pedersen are not ruckmen and would be giving away height, weight and experience. While playing them as your ruckmen, as fill ins, for a few minutes a quarter, is sustainable, for the whole game it is not. -
Well TV standards have certainly slipped. Lindsay Fox bared his arse on the Molly tribute show last night.

Don't know if it is a disgrace, but it is a poor choice, when there are so many active players to choose from.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Redleg replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't believe that it is a recruiting failure, simply because someone taken after your selection ends up a better player, but rather, it is when you take someone with a high pick, who is never going to make it in the AFL and as we have seen in the past, even at VFL level. Obviously players develop at different levels and will do differently if in good clubs or poor clubs. But when you waste a high pick, on a bloke who just can't play at an AFL standard, after being given time to develop, that is when you have a recruiting failure IMO. -

Well with Gawn, Spencer and Pedesen, that would give us a full house. -

Saturday talking point: Intraclub and the State of the List
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Had a bit of an argument with a pretty pathetic Dees supporter, who basically these days just rubbishes us. Well I suppose he is not a real supporter. I tried to explain to him that our list has been turned over in the last couple of years, but all he could answer was he had heard that for the last 10 years. Again I tried to explain that our list was crap over the last 10 years and we have done something about it. In summary though, even though he says he is a Dees fan, he is like many in the AFL world. Until we produce, many will think we are just making up the numbers. Go Dees and produce and stick it up the condescending and arrogant, clubs and individuals who make up the AFL. -

I wouldn't be surprised if he still has a bit of growing left in him. Could get close to Fyfe size. -
Good day for the MFC. A game without any major injuries.
