MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 1, 2016
Redleg replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Once again we start a season with a swag of injured players. Brayshaw, lumumba, Petracca, Trengove, Newton, Dawes, Dunn, Spencer etc. that is the way it has been for years. Disappointing we can never start the season with our best team available. Anyway, I hope we can get over GWS. Everyone seems to be picking them as the real improves. -
I have no idea. It is just interesting that our players are holding off, while other clubs are re signing their players. Hopefully we keep everyone we want.
-
Hope he is the first domino.
-
Wonder if this a precursor to him being dumped from the 22, at some stage during the season.
-
While I am fairly confident Jesse will stay with us, it is interesting that players from several clubs are re signing, yet our 3 in play, Jesse, Tom Mc and Watts are all not yet committed to their future with us.
-
The West Australian said he was also enjoying playing alongside close friends Harmes and Jesse Hogan. “A lot of us are really good mates anyway but being out on the field together we can help one another out,” Kent said. “It’s just an exciting time for the club, we’ve got a lot of young guys stepping up and I just can’t wait for round one." From MFC site.

I know what WJ was trying to get me to do.

Is Patton playing?
-
I'd imagine Shiel, Griffen, Ward, Smith, Coniglio if fit, Greene, Kelly, Whitfield, Palmer, Hoskin-Elliott are the main guys. They may throw in a high salaried, ordinary footballer, just to get the Dees fans going, if they have some injuries.

Sorry to mention footy on this thread fellas, but it is back for us on saturday. Boy do we need to start the season well.
-
"Unless Hunt is injured, I think we will see him debut next week with Oliver." Don't see my statement as saying he was a " lock" for round 1.
-
I was mainly concerned that JT shouldn't be labelled as WANTING to leave, but rather he may have been given limited options, in that he may not have been offered a contract. As I said, I didn't know the full story. However, your post suggested he as a former MFC Captain, wanted to walk out on us. My limited info suggests that was not the case. Even if we have a better outfit now, he is still on the list and therefore has a chance to again make the team. He could not have done that with us, if we were forcing him out.

Yes. -
Didn't realize he was ineligible to play for Casey yesterday. Probably wrong then on my hunch. Disagree with your last sentence. We are slow off the half back line and he has pace. The only one I can think of with real pace other than him, in that area of the ground, is HL. I don't think Salem is overly quick and am not even sure he will stay on the half back line long term.
-
Are you sure that was his choice, or something he was prepared to do reluctantly? I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but if the club offered him up and preferred not to give him a contract, then he may have agreed to go because of limited options. We may have decided that we could get Laverde with 12 or some other player and that it was better, than keeping a seriously injured player. Until we know the facts surrounding the mooted deal, it is all speculation and we shouldn't be suggesting that he was walking out on us.

Only that the description wasn't in capital letters.

Not sure how to do that, but one of the computer experts on here should be able to help. -
That's what it says on my business card.

His arms seem to go all over the place, when he walks or runs. It is a funny look to me. However, they are long, which gives him a good reach and obviously help him with marking. I am more excited to see him play, than any other player I can recall, in the last several years. One of my workmates has seen him play several times and describes him as a freak. His comment after the draft to me was, "you should thank God the Saints needed a key forward".
-
Not yet, as I wouldn't have had to ask you if she had.
-
Unless Hunt is injured, I think we will see him debut next week with Oliver. If he wasn't in calculations and is uninjured, he would have played today. He certainly has the pace we need off half back and HL might not have done enough yet.

Were you at my place?

When you look at the TV vision of CP 5, he looks anything but an AFL footballer. Thick legs, heavy body and floppy arms. However, from speaking to those who have seen him play, we are in for a treat. He is special.
