  1. MRP a joke. Umpiring by crowd noise and not vision. Fixturing done on the basis of dollars and totally unrelated to fairness of a sporting competition. Rising Star award ignoring Jayden Hunt in 2017 and this week giving an award to a kid with 3 possessions and 3 goals obtained in a thrashing of the opposition. A record year of football stats for a 2nd year player, placing him in the top few players in the game, yet ignored in a 40 man AA squad. Rules changed at whim. You know rjay, it is okay for you to suggest that the AA selectors should watch the games, but I actually doubt that they would know how to turn on a Television or find their way to a football ground.
  2. Now you are an AFL club and are offered one of Jonas, Roberton, Ross and Clarrie, you select........?
  3. The worst type of player in today's footy, is the player who gives it to the other side. On saturday for example, the Pies kicked all of their 6 first quarter goals from turnovers. Digest that for a second. If we don't turnover the ball as much in that first quarter, we are in the finals. Most of Tyson's early possessions were turnovers and they KILLED us. Before some of you rush in and say " but at least he gets it", that is not the answer, as often he is given it by other players and then gives it away. Ask your self what would you rather have, a player who gets 15 contested possessions and never turns it over, or a bloke who gets a mix of 25 contested and uncontested possessions and turns over 15 of them. Add to that a player who can't be relied on to kick simple goals when other players pass the ball to him, who has no pace to apply pressure and who doesn't usually run the game out.
  4. The veteran we could maybe squeeze into the side wears number 23 for the Swans.
  5. It didn't lead to the choke in the last game, it was a reason for more games lost, which could have helped us avoid the choke.
  6. Most likely.
  7. Don't think he can be expected to stop every idiotic action of every other player. He even got himself 3 weeks out, which together with Jesse's suspension, probably cost us a win in one of those under a goal losses.
  8. Yes, Coach Collingwood.
  9. What about when TMac kicks out?
  10. On watching parts of the game again, I noticed that on at least three occasions the Pies goaled when Garlett was right there to spoil, or apply pressure and in fact he never moved. One was the Hoskin-Elliott dropped mark in the goal square and then recovery and goal. Garlett was like a statue. He also missed an easy goal in the first few minutes which could have set us off on our way and later missed from 30 out straight in front, as Gawn also did a a little later. Clearly Garlett has had some issues to deal with, as he has completely dropped off in the last 3rd of the season. His pressure acts disappeared and he was not the same player as earlier in the season. He returned twice late in the season to Perth for a funeral and some other issue and was clearly unsettled. On saturday he appeared to have no interest in the game.
  11. From the AFL site: His raw numbers stacked up: he led the League in handballs (21.9), was second in contested possessions (15.6), fifth in total disposals (659) and eighth in average disposals (30), 10th in clearances (6.6) and 11th in tackles (6.9). Oliver's handball rate helped, but his disposal efficiency of 77.1 per cent also ranked second among the top-10 ball-winners and fourth in the top 20. Demons co-captain Nathan Jones was among those surprised at Oliver's omission. "It's obviously an opinion of the selectors, but from our perspective he's been a terrific addition to our team," Jones said. "He's taken a huge leap for a young player … and he's probably pretty stiff to miss out this year, but I'm tipping he won't be too far away." Oliver perhaps needed to kick more than four goals and average more than 199.4 metres gained – the new buzz statistic in the AFL world. The pacesetters rack up 500-plus metres, while Hawk Tom Mitchell, for comparison's sake, amassed 313.4. Oliver's like-for-like competition was probably Matt Crouch, Rory Sloane, Joel Selwood, Dylan Shiel, Mitchell and Josh Kennedy. Kennedy played 19 games, Selwood 18, and Oliver is with the rest all on 22. Only Kennedy averaged more clearances than Oliver. Only Mitchell and Crouch averaged more disposals. None of that group won more contested possessions. Only Sloane out-tackled him. Digging deeper, they all bettered Oliver's three inside 50s per match and, damningly, crushed him in average metres gained. The reasoning, valid or not, for Oliver's snub is suddenly clearer. His critics – and we're not talking about Damien Martyn – consistently stated he would be more impactful if he kicked more. The All Australian selectors clearly agree.
  12. Garland is contracted. But agree don't see him in our 22. Spencer is a free agent. Are you serious that you want to delist an 18 year old ruckman who has been injured most of the year. That is mind boggling. I think Tim Smith is on the main list ATM, though it could have been a LTI list upgrade.
  13. Haven't seen DL this fired up, but understandably so. I am so p-ssed off I actually don't want to watch any finals even including the GF. I just couldn't care less. Have even stopped watching 360 and AFL tonight.
  14. Hibberd AA nomination and best of the lot Oliver should have been an AA nomination
  15. Wow, 2nd best contested possession player in the AFL, one of the leading clearance players and more handballs than anyone in AFL history, 4th best tackler and 5th in disposals, all in his 2nd year and he cant crack the AA squad of 40. Players like Jonas, Roberton, Ross etc must be superstars of the game then.
  16. I don't want to seem like a smart arse, but I for one was against letting Howe go and he only went because we virtually forced him out, didn't want Ben Kennedy and also wanted to keep Dunn for another year and let the contracted Garland go instead. The anger on here for Howe at the time was ridiculous, who I believe wanted to stay a Demon. Wow, Howe is in the AA squad, Dunn was serviceable, Kennedy will be gone and Garland was unlucky to do his knee. We got shafted again by Collingwood, like Dawes, like Harry etc. TheoX has a point.
  17. That explains it. Clarrie once met Rod Butters at a footy function.
  18. In my opinion too. Salems disposal as usual was among our best couple. I am sure you confused him with Tyson or ANB who went at 58% and 47% respectively. Poor users of the ball.
  19. You don't trade an unwanted player, better to have him as Casey co captain with Trenners.
  20. I would go after Hodge.
  21. I meant the whole game.
  22. Would give Jetta a 9 and probably a 6.5 to Trac but pretty good on rest.
  23. Don't think Bernie and Jordie can play in same side anymore and because of his costly mistakes, Bernie is the one to go. Tough but if we are to improve changes must occur. We are far too slow. They make us slower.
