How many games have you seen him play Layzie?

I personally wouldn’t want any F/S who is not good and either would the club. The anxiety here is we have followed him for a few years as a future F/S and he is doing well. However ,now we have opposition for his services and if we lose out again to GC because of changed rules and he becomes a good player it will be very annoying.

    And being a Dees fan.

What about a fortnightly gig as a part time specialist ruck coach? Could also check in on Kalani to see how he is going. Could also do forward scouting game reports on Lions and Suns and some part time recruiting for us as well. Where there is a will there is a way.

Probably helps make 2 top mids our draft goal.
  6. You mean the club that wouldn’t trade WD to us and we would drop 7 picks to get the next one as well, given everything we gave up to get 9? I don’t see that happening. The only swap I can envisage is a very small one with a bonus pick added that we really want and that looks like Richmond. Anyway, only another week of this to go.
  7. George wasn’t blaming them, he just said it would have been good if they turned up, especially given their situations. Of course there could be good reasons why they didn’t.

Yes forgot Read, the other two are just forwards. He would have Moyle and Read ahead of him after Witts goes, who is a year younger than Max and maybe playing longer than Max. Surely he would see us as a better option if he is prepared to leave home.

Well with Max a year older than Witts and with Ned Moyle also at GC and only Verrall at Dees, his chances of that are much better with us.

We are on the same train. I am hoping he wouldn’t use us, given the history, but might not have the same view of a short training stint with GC just to keep fit and say he at least considered them. Anyway here’s hoping.

Without any insider info, I think Kalani has told us his choice, whatever it is. If he is to be a back man, or a ruckman and chooses us, he has May and Lever and Max to learn from. Not many better than them to help your development as a young footballer, in the team your father starred for and guys you already know and have trained with before.
  12. Kentfield even bigger. I hope these two boys can make it and then our key forward positions will be well covered. I think Verrall will make it as a forward/ruck backup too, allowing JVR to hone his forward craft and stop rucking. If we are bullish on the above, there is no way we take a key forward at 9.
  13. See my post, a few before yours.
  14. Be careful anyone at training, there are houses falling everywhere.
  15. Stay there, you might see three of mine running saturday.

I think he has just had 4 weeks off already.

Where are the mods when needed?

    That’s what I think too.

Or he is not big enough to be an AFL ruckman, but rather a key position player.

I have had 11 small banana smoothies over 11 days. I can’t work out why I have gained weight.
  21. Agree Katrina. There is a tendency to act like vultures on a carcass when someone leaves a club. It is pretty poor. He also was the boss when we won a flag and we put together a consistent finals team. Who was the last Ceo to do that, Jum Cardwell 60 years ago? We should thank him for his contribution and move on to our next stage. What I would like to see is a photo on November 21 of our draftees and Sharp, together with Tracc and Clarry, with the byline, Dees stars commit to their best footy, their long term future at the Dees, developing the newbies and getting us our next flag. That will enthuse us and shut up a few others.
  22. 300 games played under several mid field coaches and he is a novice? Every assistant coach starts somewhere and there is no rule they can’t successfully coach in their first stint.

You think we will win the flag next year? Given a good fixture, good injury run and player development we could.
  24. Redleg replied to WERRIDEE's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Injuries, fixture and (skill) development are the keys and only the last to a degree, is the responsibility of the Coach.
