How can people come on here and simply say "no loss" ???????? How the hell do you know? Clearly he offers something that appeals to the Hawks, and they have snapped him up. If you asked the players, and the people around the club, I'm sure they would say it is a big loss. I don't know the bloke, and don't know what his impact has been on the place, but I dare say he was a valuable part of the footy department over the last 10 years. Good luck Chris on the move to the Hawks, and thanks for the contribution you have made to the MFC!

I agree Junior would be a terrific captain, however, I don't see the point of giving it to him for a few seasons......would be better off leaving Neitz as captain, and start grooming a successor for longer term. I think Jeff White would be a great captain as well, but again, in the last few years of his career, I can't see the point in giving it to him. I think Brock is the natural choice going forward, and after having a bad start to the year with injury, I don't think we can read too much into his performances this year.....he has missed a lot of footy. You only have to see how much he is being rotated off the bench to know he is a fair way off being fully fit. Ideally, Neita for another 1-2 years, then hand over to Brock. Will be interesting to see how the new coach sees things, and what process he will use to pick the captain, that is, will it be player driven, or coach driven.

In some cases I agree, it is window dressing, and the decision has already been made, however, I don't think this is the case with the MFC on this occasion.

It's amazing what a couple of losses from the Bombers will do! I'm still of the same opinion........if he's regarded as the best available coach, then great......just don't make a decision to appoint him for any other reason than that!

Cannot agree with the anti Cooney comments.........while I'm not his number 1 fan, the bloke is a gun player, and I have watched him play some ripping games for the Doggies. And he does win his own ball.......when he is on, he is as hard at it as anyone. He had a shocker last night........but he wasn't alone for the Dogs. I would have him at the MFC in a heartbeat!

I just hope MFC supporters turn up in droves to celebrate the milestone. I know it's not our home game, but that's no excuse! I'll be there, and I've convinced another 4 MFC supporters I know who don't get along to many games to make the effort!

It was a top game........and even though the dogs were very ordinary, we turned up to play.......the work rate and commitment was fantastic! Just goes to show how so much of football is above the shoulders. If we turned up to play like that every week, we wouldn't be in the predicament we are now!

Is Longmire being interviewed? His name was very prominent in the St.Kilda process, but I haven't heard him talked of at all lately.

I was doing nothing more than playing devils advocate......hence the "is he losing his magic?" line. My opinion on the matter is pretty simple.......I want the best coach, not the best promoter. If it's deemed to be Sheeds, then I will do cartwheels....I think he would be awesome for the club...........if not, I'll support the coach deemed to be the best option. Winning games of football is what it's all about. I want a coach best equipped to deliver that!
