It would be brave to keep blooding Weid when we desperately need to win the next 3. But we have a policy of giving at least 2-3 games to young players. Id love to see Bull Smith and Tracc in for Weids and Tyson. Tyson must have used his credits but maybe they are waiting for Jack Viney. IMO ANB and Harmes still have a life or two left as well, to play into form. If Hogan is out rested, then Smith is a real chance. Im still keen on Pedo but understand those that say he isnt the future.

Tysons kicking is more than a concern, it is not good enough. He never hits a target.

gawn Melksham Fritch Jones Salem O mac

Id be happy to trade Weid, Brayshaw and Frost. I think we'd get overs. Just because Frost doesnt fit well into our backline doesnt necessarily mean he wouldnt be attractive to some clubs for an early 2nd rounder. With Weid we will get more if it looks like we havent given him enough chances. Late 1st round. A lot less IMO if he is given enough rope. Brayshaw will be looked at by Freo WC and North. Might get late 1st round.

Its very wet for the Weid. Smith would handle the conditions better.

Ok but how many times have we kicked 4 in a row ourselves?

Last week i saw Jones getting the ball in his range and looking for an option to short pass to. This was more ANB type forward work but very happy to see the captain not bomb it and look for another option. I think the lead will change more than once and the Hawks are just so well coached, disciplined with defensive setups and kick unfalteringly to position that their less talented team will mean it will be heart in mouth for the last 10 minutes.

Melksham is just a better player than Weid at present. If the Weid comes in, you need to play him for a consistent period. 3 weeks or so, potentially carrying him as he comes up to speed. There may be better time to bring him in; say round 7/8/9 against Saints/Suns/Blues. Id keep Melksham at least against the Hawks.

I think we will win, but each time I go into Demonland I end up singing "19th Nervous Breakdown" in my head. I blame Whispering Jack.

Logged on to share Scully.

I cant see Brayshaw doing more than playing a part. Id rather have Bugg who has faults but could easily find his way into the best. I cant see Angus being back to his best yet.

He was a bad influence on younger players.

This article was worth the price of the Herald Sun today. Excellent.

VFL Practice Match - Casey Demons v Box Hill Hawks

Any news? -
Although I think the Big Mac is 1st picked, Im excited that Pedo looks to be an option. I rate him highly and would like him to be in the Ones early in the year.

Its 10 years since I found myself idly writing out my best team. Didn't realise that it had been that long since we had more than 22 that deserved a game. That old March fever has got me again.

Preseason Training - Week commencing 26/02/18

Its Neal Bullen, or Bullen for short according to that genius commentator Spud Frawley. -
I actually think he looks like Andrew Leoncelli. I said to my mate Maynard looks like Bizzarro Petracca.
-
I think his best feature is that he can stop on a dime, swivel and kick accurately off a step. He also gets to where the ball is, very very well.

The seats had moss growing on them from the cold and rain. After a close game it would take an hour to get out of car park. The centre had a mound so that you could not see the other wing. The stands were shallow and not angled up properly. It was extremely ugly and unfinished for a good reason. It was in a rain band. Indefensible.

I lived in Mt Waverly in the afl park time. It was quicker to get to the mCG whatever method. Undefendable.

Okay this is now reminds me of another pre-season I remember, when I believed we would be invincible. No. That's all of them. They all were the best parts of the season..

I believe Tom Mac is our most valuable player. He is first picked for my 22. He is proven, tough and reliable. He seemingly has come back very quickly from his end of year operations and I would be happy to have him as a stand alone captain. I bet other teams envy us and I see him not only kicking 50 if he is not sent back to help out, but goal assisting many others this year. Reminds me of Ross Glendinning.

At my school in East Burwood we had a rule. Pick your team by Grade 2. No changes allowed after. But that was 1962.

If it is to deliver one message, the minute after a goal and on way back before a bounce should suffice.
