  1. Jadeez - It is all about position in the club. He is our VC. He is expected to set an example to the team he LEADS.... Surely we do not have to discuss what this means.... Bottom line: * He is the VC * He was inebriated at around 2-3am in the morning * Recovery sessions are key to our ongoing on field success We have accepted mediocrity for too long as a club. If we are going to be anything we have to make a stand. Fair call in my opinion. Brent wants the leadership back and will be if he moves forward and does all it takes to represent our beloved club in the manner expected by all who service and support.
  2. This is my gripe and I just have to say...... The way Brad Miller is discussed and denigrated on this site is at times nothing short of a disgrace. In my opinion Brad is a honest and hard working player who is well admired by his peers and the FD at our club. Really some of your comments are just plain childish. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Brad was pick 55 after all. You must all be such an amazing bunch of high achievers to think that the merits of Brad Miller compare so low to yourselves. Yes I am annoyed but anyone who does his best in the Red and Blue as Brad does, should not be spoken about in this manner... So I guess it is Brad's fault he was drafted to play for the MFC and also our clubs fault for continuing to employ him... My oh my what is the world coming too..........
  3. From Nathan Jone's twitter 20 minutes ago " Sad day for the MFC with the passing of Peter Szental RIP, thoughts are with his family & friends " Terrible loss to the world. My thoughts also with his family and friends during this time
  4. 2010 is still very much a development year. The improvement in our general play has been obvious and really pleasing. Yes we have lost some games that we should have contested better, namely, West Coast and North Melbourne. Our losses are less damning and with a bit of luck we could have had 7 wins. Sometimes you have to see the big picture and stop listening to stupid media reports by supposed journalists that really provide very little insight into the game. Do we have to be reminded of the ridiculous comments that were made about Richmond early in the season. I for one knew they were wrong and that Richmond would prove to be more competitive than last year. Another strong pre season and further development of our young list will see even more improvement next year. It will all start to click and watch out. There is so much to be excited about, try not to lose perspective by only focussing on wins v's losses and who is on the bottom. Yes it would be nice to avoid a wooden spoon but irrespective a spoon does not mean there has not been improvement
  5. IMO we are 2-3 years away from our premiership window. Trading our draft picks would be a very poor strategy. There is a mountain of work to be done before we are at the stage of topping up with positional players. And lets face it, our past record of top up players has not been very successful. We may be more in a position now to pick best kpp as opposed to " best available "
  6. I would be disappointed not to see Junior go around for another year. To me it would be between Moloney, Davey, Green and Rivers. I have heard Dean mention several times how well respected Rivers is around the club. If Brad Miller was more consistent across the forward line then I think he could be in the running as well - very well respected. I would love Aaron Davey for sentimental reasons and I think his leadership and interpersonal skills have increased over the years. I would be very proud to have Aaron as the first indigenous leader of the MFC. He just needs to learn to break the tag. As our team develops and our young guns start to fire consistently this should become easier for him. As for Brent he appears to tick all the right boxes. My only concern is that under pressure he tends to revert back to poor decision making and his disposal efficiency drops. I am not sure of Greens leadership off the field. On the field he is one of the few week in and week out that always stand up. Not really sure about Rivers. Has missed a lot of football over the years, but looks like he is starting to find the pace of the game again. He could be a smokey... Irrespective of what we all think here a new leader will emerge and maybe that person could come out of left field !!
  7. Excellent KC - eagerly await your full match report Well done Scorps - looking so good this year
  8. 19.00 minute mark Q1 Carlton 31 Dees 7 Goal to Green Finally on the board
  9. I have just purchased 2 tickets for the Ron Hovey Room behind the glass. Unfortunately there is no upgrade on MFC membership tickets so the price per ticket is quite high. I am really keen and looking forward to seeing how the boys play against Geelong and how they match up Ticketing at Geelong is a case of first in first serve and trying to get the best seating that you can I am afraid!!
  10. I am very excited about seeing Jack back in the team. I for one do not care whether NikNat gets more possessions than Jack etc.....He does not play for the MFC. In my opinion we required a key fwd of Jack's ability more than a ruck style of NikNat, therefore end of story comparisons. Really the comparisons are just becoming very silly I am very happy with how Jack is progressing and I am glad MFC picked him as our 2008 #1 Wishing Jack all the best in his first game for MFC in 2010. I know he will do all that is required of him Go Jack and Go Dees
  11. Priceless comment from a Dees supporter behind the Casey goal in the last quarter. Casey had just kicked a point and Jordie McMahon was preparing to kick in for Coburg. A guy yells out " Thanks for Jack Trengove Jordie " I did feel sorry for poor Jordie but could not help but smile with agreement.....
  12. Three Quarter Time North Ballarat 8.6.54 lead Casey Scorpions 6.3.39.
  13. Have found this information on the Web to date and no radio coverage Reserves - Casey Scorpions 19.12.126 d North Ballarat 19.11.125 Seniors - quarter time North Ballarat 4.5.29 lead Casey Scorpions 1.1.7.
  14. I just cannot believe why so many people think that our rebuild is not going to take several years to complete. We have lost a lot of players since the end of 2007 and the effect of this cannot be under estimated We have removed 20 players from list since the end of 2007 - I am not sure what part of that number would be deemed trivial. For 2009 Colin Sylvia was rated our best player statistically and Jack Grimes in his first full year was your third best. 6 out of your top 10 players in 2007 are no longer there. This would test any teams depth. For the first time in many many years we have recruited youth and talented ones in that for our future. You cannot turn 18-19 year olds into 23-24 year olds overnight with 5 pre seasons under their belts. The best we can do is give them game time and development. Bottom line as demonaic has said our senior listed players are not elite and therefore the support required for our kids is not at the same level as Hawthorn has been able to provide. Whilst I did not enjoy the first half of last weeks game, the second half was clearly better with a tackle count higher than Hawthorn and two clearances less at the end of the game. You cannot say that the intensity was not there. Having watched the replay I clearly saw some very good signs of clearing the ball out of our backline and patches where the game plan was clear. We are falling down at our half forward line right now and the ball is coming back out quickly. If we can hold it up and score some goals early we will see a very different team out there. Have faith...We just need to be patient and enjoy watching our kids develop. We should be there encouraging them and attending games to show our support. To all those that have thrown in the towel after round 1 - If our president who is fighting the hard fight against cancer can make it to games then What is your excuse for not been there??? If you want to blame the coach and the FD then fine but at least be fair about it and look at the reasons why we are where we are at right now? I personally think Dean is doing a good job with very inexperienced cattle out there.
  15. Well said Old Man Rivers..... Thought our kids were an absolute highlight today..... Jordie, Jamie, JT, Scully, Petterd and Strauss... I am looking so forward to seeing them all get the game time they need Keep playing the kids Dean as I prefer to see them play than Cameron Bruce and Brad Miller right now - sorry Cam and Brad but you were both very disappointing today and showed no senior leadership at all
  16. Whispering Jack I agree with your sentiment in terms of what happens with young teams Look at the amount of games half our team has played and it makes you see just how many inexperienced players we fielded against West Coast and most likely throughout this year as well Scully - no AFL games Strauss - no AFL Games Trengove - no AFL games Hughes - rookie - no AFL games Bail - barely 1 game McKenzie - rookie - 3 AFL games McNamara - 3 AFL games Spencer - 6 games Maric - 11 games Cheney - 12 games Bennell - 16 games Martin - 27 games Petterd - 29 games Warnock - 38 games- less than 2 yrs of senior experience Frawley - 40 games Dunn 52 games Jones - 70 games Jamar - 73 games Moloney - 90 games Miller - 127 games Green - 198 games McDonald - 235 games Sylvia - out in the first quarter - was good up to that point Bate - 1st game since Christmas Bruce - 1st game back since Xmas Davey - still has abductor soreness
  17. Hi Demonlanders out there, I was wondering if anyone went to the Family Day today at Luna Park and if so could we get a report on how the day went. I did see a few pics from Cameron Schwab's twitter site and the crowd looked very healthy Looking forward to hearing all about it
  18. Finally a voice of reason - thank you Swampy The Dees will be very very strong in a couple of years and we are laying down good foundations for our future. This is not an instant cup of soup exercise, add water and they will grow after a good stir for one minute. Give the kids time and enjoy the ride with them.
  19. Positives in my opinion: Overall the team ran the game out and looked for each other. Was not the best of starts but this is their second competitive hit out - so it will take a few weeks to gell together again. overall given that we have a lot of inexperienced players in the team and no forward line and rucks i think we at least were competitive in patches Cale Morton - worked hard and was impressed with his much stronger attack on the ball and opposition body Addam Maric - looked up and kicked well into the forward line on a couple of occassions. Has good foot skills and can deliver, just needs more gametime. Jetta - worked hard and his attack on the ball was very good. Scully - have to be happy with his debut. Lighting hands way to fast for his team mates Trengove - worked himself well into the game and makes good position Joel Mac - excellent first up game for the Dees. Frawley, Sylvia, - Attacked the ball well and were disappointed when beaten Rivers - really good game, composed and moved really well. Is a class above and very valuable to our backline Mller - worked hard and took most of his marks with one grab and kicked a couple of goals when the opportunity presented Jones - looks much faster and love him running into the forward line. Junior - got a lot of it Cheney - worked hard and never stopped running Jordie - this kid can play
  20. I saw Sam Blease at my local Taco Bills last month and I was really pleased to see that he had not only grown in height but had clearly put on some much needed muscle...He is now quite strong across the shoulders and his arms were really defined. Would be great to see him out in the red and the blue. From all reports we will be very " pleased with the Blease "

  22. Not sure if anyone is interested but I have summarised the 2009 AFL Draft Prospects from the Herald Sun last week It contains information such as height, weight and player summaries.
  23. Three of the latest rumours I have heard regarding MFC trades in and out 1/ Chris Dawes to the dees for pick 18. This is from a reliable source at Big footy - normally gets things right 2/ Ryan Cook has requested a trade from the Pies to the Dees. Rumour has it Brent Stanley also wants to come to the Dees 3/ Simon Buckley was touted as a possible trade option if an attractive deal could be sought Any thoughts demonlanders??
  24. I have heard that Robbo has signed with Heidelberg Football club. Not sure how accurate this information is
