  1. I was wondering if anyone will be at the Bentleigh Club tonight to watch the Dees v the Lions... Curious if you will be there Fork or a delegate to start attaining some of the donations. I would also love to make a contribution and would be happy to make my payment tonight if possible. Go Dees and thank you Fork - this has been very inspiring
  2. Hi Adz, glad you have made it down from Gosford. I am not sure where the demonland faithful have a few earlies but you can always try the Cricketers Arms on Punt Rd opposite the Tigers - Punt Road Oval. It is a small pub that gets very busy but has a great atmosphere
  3. Cale Morton is a really good young player. He has just over a year of AFL experience and he is able to run all game and find space. I do not think the weekends game is an fair reflection on his skill level. He gives up the ball ocassionally. Most times he finds a team mate. Looking at the size of his hips he will fill out very nicely and be a very strong bodied player for many years for the MFC. I wish some on here would not be so over reactive and only choose to look at the negatives. There are so many positives this year so far and we are still yet to see at least another five first games debut. The whole team is playing much better than last year. Go Cale. You are a good player and keep up the intensity
  4. Dee-luded - Maric did not play many games last year as he was still very young and doing VCE. He is working very hard on his defensive and midfield game. From all reports he is playing very well for Casey and finding more fitness. Potentially two weeks away from rejoining the senior team I think we will all be very pleased with Maric as many of our other kids in years to come. Back to Aaron: I think Davey is best suited to the forward line but he does nice things in traffic in the middle as well. You have forgotten that he was injured out of Bulldogs game a few weeks ago. Davey will come back even sharper soon.
  5. The amount of negativity is frightening. Certainly no offence intended to any Melbourne supporter but no wonder MFC are where they are at. It appears a reasonable portion (if this site can be deemed a representative sample) of our members/supporters fear change. Whether you are scared or not the current president and administration have not done enough to secure our long term future. If you think Jim Stynes does not have the clout or the required credentials to lead our club, then in my opinion your are deluded. Keep the faith as the plan will be announced in the weeks to come. The AFL already are aware of it and from all rumoured reports are 100% happy with the new plan and Jim Stynes. Whether we like it or not we need the AFL to support us. They do not support our current administration and that has become a real concern Paul Gardner would not hand over so readily if he felt the new phase would be detrimental to Melbourne We need to embrace change and be brave moving forward.
  6. I agree with Sylvinator it is very hard to drop Neitz.....There was something about his performance today that suggests he is not able to go on for much longer. Unless of course he is carrying an injury which we are unawares..... I have always admired David but this year he has been terrible and it honestly hurts to see him out there when he really should not be there. I too would not be surprised to see David hang up his boots very soon........Just a gut instinct only.........If not I have no idea what can be done to get him back to where he was????
  7. MFC home and away club member with reserved seat - Silver - 1 year off gold
  8. Players have so much time available during the day. I am sure the drive will be no issue
  9. Onboard as well. Let those winning numbers roll
  10. Too many soft front runners for way too long........paid good money with not the required commitment and passion....... As long as these Gen Y individuals realise that they are potentially major contributors to our low supporter member conversion and poor corporate sponsorship then I guess it is all okay......NOT...... Robbo, Yze, Green, Bruce, Davey et al - Stop saying you want respect.....Understand and undestand well - Respect has to be earnt on the field doing the hard work, focussing and playing with heart....Talking about respect year in and year out is no different than our club board saying we have turned another corner..... Too many soft players, too many soft administrators for too many years......Good intentions with no real vision or desire will never get the right results Thank god D Bailey, C Connolly and P Mac are onboard........I look forward to some real positive change.......If not then it will be fair to say MFC could well be no more.... Even after a thumping this weekend I still feel we are on the right track for the first time in many years....I only hope we can get there in time.....
  11. I am not sure what you hope to achieve by including membership numbers. Irrespective it would be used in some way to separate members and non members from each other. At the end of the day we are all Demons......Sure it would be great to have more supporters join up to be members but we need to be realistic that for some watching highly paid boys showing lack of pride in the red and the blue a non reason to give their money....... Heart and soul has a price after all...............Yes I am a member and have been for quite some time.....Yes I frequent games and yes will continue to do so for as long as MFC exists but even I am becoming increasingly irritated by the lack of passion shown on the field......MFC players need to start showing heart and soon......too much blue and not enough Red " Heart " for my liking..........
  12. I do not believe DB's stocks are plummeting at all. Kevin Sheedy would not say he had the goods if indeed he does not. About time all concerned with the MFC took accountability for where we are currently at......... For those that want to shoot easy targets go and find those moving ducks at Luna Park........Maybe you might shoot some soft slow movers such as Yze, Green, Bruce and Robbo to name a few..........
  13. Leave Brad Miller at CHF or HFF along side Matty Bate.....I personally think both of them are strong leading forwards. I think Brad has got what it takes and am disappointed at the level of unfair criticism he receives. He has been played out of position for years and totally f***ed over by Daniher. I thought he ran and tried harder than most yesterday... Give him a go in the fwd line DB and lets see what he is made off
  14. We all forget that Carroll should be taking the 3rd tall from any team. The fact that he has taken the first tall often since 2007 and beyond is because either our other preferred backs are either injured, babies like Frawley or non existent due to CC's inability to find other Key defenders in all his recruitment years with us. I am not the biggest fan of Carroll off field but I think his endeavour on the field should not be so severely questioned. He never shirts a contest and certainly has a go. Yesterday he tried to run the ball out of the backline in accordance with our new game plan. A couple of times he pulled it off. Because others cannot run hard and better still run hard to find space in support is hardly his fault. If Carroll was our third defender in most games I think most people would be happy with his efforts and no doubt more effective outcomes. Maybe I am wrong but sometimes it is easier to point out and find obvious fault rather than looking fairly at the reasons why positive outcomes are not always possible. there are more severe things wrong with the MFC other than Carroll. No manning up throughout entire game...inexcusable. I would think that is far worse week in and week out than Carrolls efforts in the backline. Anyway my 1 minutes worth........
  15. Personally I think all the focus on attaining the prized first draft pick after just round 1 is not healthy. If after round 22 we happen to be the most under performing team for 2008, then we earn that right to the prize. Right now, we should all focus our energies on Bailey and Co getting the most out of current list and hope we can quicky develop the likes of Morton. Weetra, Maric, Meeson etc and further develop our other young talent in Petterd, Bate, Dunn, Jones etc.
  16. I agree Supreme_Demon as I am equally excited about the proposed move to Casey Fields over Summer. I only have ventured out there once to see the boys play against the Roos but found the facilities to be good. The important factor is what you have already mentioned and looking at local opportunities to grow our membership base Just because you live out Cranbourne way it does not mean that you only want to support the big four Melbourne based clubs. I am looking forward to seeing what comes of this opportunity. Makes no difference to me whether we are aligned with Sandringham or Casey Scorpions. At the least the Scorpions have some Red and Blue in their jumper. I feel MFC have made some very positive moves in the last six months with our club appointments. Well done Dees. Keep going and you will see the fruits of your work
  17. I agree RobbieF - if anyone can get the Melbourne factions back together Connolly can. 2008 will be a very interesting year and I believe more upside than some or most may expect
  18. I agree with Jacey give Bate some time. I think he is a good lead up forward with one of the best and cleanest pair of hands in the team. By the way this is my first post. I only discovered this site today and was so impressed with the forum that I thought I would join. I could spend 24 hours a day talking about the dees. So I am looking forward to many discussions with you all. Go Dees
