Travis Johnson never went on to become a better player under Leigh Matthews. Sylvia can't even crack the team he went to. Turned up so out of condition they put him in the rehab group for most of the pre season to get to the required fitness and he wasn't even injured. Any others?

Game plan adjustment will be trying to hold possession of the ball for long periods by kicking sideways or backwards off half back because there are no forward targets. Didn't go too well against the Dawks should do better against an injury ravaged Saints. Saints game will be interesting as they have no backline against our no forward line and our good backline will be against their ok forward line. So set up quite nicely. On the face of it our midfield looks better, so we should be ok.

Dom's going to be something special but that was expected. Vince and Cross's output was expected. You could argue Giorgiou, although he had a well known reputation in the SANFL so people had an idea of what to expect. Michie is shaping up very nicely but also had a great season in the WAFL last season so there were expectations. I don't think you could call any of these a "Find". To me a "Find" is a player no one knew about and you find them when you didn't know you had them. Surely on that basis JKH is the find so far. By the end of next year it might well be Jayden Hunt.

afl.com.au article today saying compo picks are staying. So at least if he does go we'll get a very good compo pick. Unless we pick up a free agent but not sure any available would suit us. Mundy is a bit old for our purposes.

There's a lot of talk about compo picks being scrapped for Free Agents and RFA. Knowing our luck that will come in just in time to lose a player like Chip.

I'm guessing it is a stress fracture without using the term stress fracture which would create a much greater stress reaction than using the term stress reaction.

My theory is, if there is substantial improvement this year and everyone but especially Roosy is loving the season, he might decide to review his decision to only be here to groom a successor. We have already seen him change his mind about coaching and explain why he changed his mind. I don't regard it as impossible that the same thing might happen about a longer tenure as head coach. His kids are both out of school now. He is earning more money than he could doing anything else in the AFL industry except for Vlad's job. If he's enjoying it, why wouldn't he stay longer. The signs are already promising that improvement is happening.

I would ban my kids from watching him if it wasn't for the fact they are already Sydney based lifelong die hard D's supporters. It happened to me with Barass in the early '60's. I worshipped him on the Happy Hammond show on Saturday mornings when he did a weekly footy clinic. Became a die hard because of those bloody programs and here I am still waiting for the Holy Grail, just because I watched a Roos type on tv. Never again, I tell you, never again.

Fascinating how it's the Coach Neeld's fault when we drafted badly under Prendergast in 2011 but we credit the recruiter Viney not the coach Neeld when we recruited well the next year. I would love to know how much of the recruiting decisions are made by the Coach and how much by the recruiters. Is the coach's input just about what type of players are needed for the game plan or are they out there finding and selecting players. Everyone blames Bailey and Neeld for the disastrous recruiting during their coaching periods but is that correct. Bailey evidently wanted tall players who had stamina to run and carry all day and thus we got a bunch of tall skinny players. The game was changed overnight from non contested, run and carry to contested footy when the bench was changed from 4 to 3. Not necessarily entirely Bailey's fault. Morton was the standout player at pick 4 in his draft. Wasn't entirely Bailey's fault that he ended up the player he did. Neeld seemed to have a philosophy for big bodies for contested footy. Seems about right for the way footy is heading. Don't know if we can blame him for all the duds that were recruited. He might be responsible for getting the older players to add off field experience but none of them cost anything in picks. On the other hand he seems to have had his hands all over the selection of Dawes and Pedersen. Clearly in the last draft period all we needed to get was mid fielders. Always a much easier task than finding key position players. Can you credit Roos with finding all the recruits we got for this season or is it the recruiters. I reckon there was an element of luck involved as well. I doubt Adelaide would have let Vince go if they hadn't have had draft picks stripped from them. People are going to keep crediting Roos but is that right. My guess is he says what type of players he wants and the recruiters find them. I wonder if it was him or the Swans recruiters who started looking for players who couldn't get a game like Josh Kennedy and Mattner and poaching them. Now we have Michie. I would say Roos's genius is communicating clearly to those players what their role is and they execute it better than they would have where they were. .

Spot on. Don't understand this either. Got no special support for this specific footy trip from the Club or NT Tourism for that matter. They were good but didn't have anything set up especially for D's supporters. I thought it would have been great to stay in the same hotel as the Club and mingle a bit with them given the big effort to fly up to Darwin. But no, nothing.

I went last year. Had a great four days. Flew in Thursday afternoon, took a hire car and drove down to Jabiru in Kakadu. About a three hour drive. Stayed in the main hotel down there, Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn. (The famous hotel shaped like a Crocodile), then did a tourist flight out of Jabiru to see all the areas you can't get to by car which is something like 97% of Kakadu. About $110 for under an hour. Well worth it. Did a bunch of tourist hikes that day and ended up at Cooinda Camping Ground which is a large caravan park with basic restaurant etc. It is just down the road from the Yellow Water cruises on the river. I real must. Got there just in time for the dusk cruise which was amazing. Plenty of massive crocks in the water. Next day did a bit of driving, went on a three hour hike and drove back up to Darwin. Stayed at the Adina Apartments on the Darwin Waterfront. That's the precinct to stay at. It's only a 15-20 minute cab drive to the ground. We booked our tickets to the game well in advance and could pick the best seats right in the middle of the Grandstand on the wing. The game was needless to say the low point of the trip. But that shouldn't have again. We got up early and spent the day till 2pm looking around. There is a good Darwin museum with a display on Cyclone Tracy and the Military museum is a bit of a must with a very good interactive exhibition on the Japanese bombing in WW2. So we arrived Thurs arvo left Sunday arvo. Could have possibly done with one more day but it was pretty good in that time frame. The Club was very disappointing. We rang them around this time before the game and they couldn't tell us what they were going to organise. In the end it was a very expensive fishing trip for a day and a half. Around $2-2,500. Probably great if you have the money. The only thing they could offer at the game was a designated area with a bbq and drinks for $150. Again way over priced. We just sat in the Grand Stand which was very interesting anyway. Sitting in amongst a crowd of locals and interstaters. We had a great time and a good excuse to go see a part of Aus I would probably not get to otherwise.

If he is talking to Watts in Part 2 it is really interesting hearing him telling him to run, run, run, up and back. That seems to be the message to the whole team but especially to Watts. If he can do that, watch this space. Love how simple and direct his instructions are.

He's back in the main group as far as I'm aware but will need 8 weeks there to get back to full fitness. I think it's already been a couple of weeks. Look up the last Misson interview about him going on the long term injury list. I believe he said he should be ready to go around round 3 or maybe it was 6. That was a big surprise because when they drafted him they thought it wouldn't be before mid season.

This must be on the basis that the current tally is basically 13% higher than last year. If you add 13% onto last year's final total of 33,000 you end up at a tad over 37,000. A win over the Saints Rd1 might bring a lot of the 12,000 back in who haven't renewed in the last two years. If that show of faith occurred who knows what might happen.

No definitive spoiler. Just saying, will relish the ep when it happens. And it will happen. Agree, pretty much my favourite of all time. As for getting back on topic. People are forgetting the Toump was severely hampered by having two hip op's which cost him most of his final under age year and meant he had no pre season. He shouldn't have played last year and people are jumping on him when really we shouldn't have seen him until this year. By all accounts he is well over the hip problems now and is running really well. So I would reserve all judgements on him till the end of this season.

Hey DA are you going to keep that head on your avatar after it is removed in the series. An event I am very much looking forward to.

Salem has been compared by some to Hannebery. Although bigger bodied and taller than Hannebery, certainly when he started. Roosy had him playing in his first year. He was stil finishing school at Xavier and used to fly up for final training and games. So it wouldn't be a total surprise to see him bring him in this season.

Yeh, but what about his football.
