  1. Does that mean you are expecting him to play?
  2. His contract ends this year. Thank God. He should have gone years ago.
  3. Like your work. Some people on here are becoming so conditioned to failure that they want to continue to wallow in it. Can't believe any of you are seriously questioning a PP. Why do you want to impose the MFC's past failings onto Roosy. You don't think he deserves to get every bit of help he can in resurrecting this mess. A traded no.1 PP will deliver us something like a top shelf 23yr old midfielder possibly with an extra player for good measure. For instance a Rory Sloane or a Scott Selwood, etc etc You don't want to get that. You'd rather stay in the pig doo we've been living in and crawl out at glaciel speed. Not me. Not the AFL either, I bet.
  4. Plenty of clubs used it to great effect. Saints got Riewoldt and Koschitzke, Pies got Daisy Thomas and Pendlebury, Hawks got Roughhead and Franklin, Blues Kruezer (jury still out on him, maybe). The tanking effect is way over rated as far as I'm concerned. It was only an issue in two games. One we would have won except for an after the siren mark and goal, the other we would have lost anyway. It wasn't relevant in any other games. Don't worry about what McLean said, he left bc he didn't want to commute from Werribee to Casey. Don't disagree that PP should be retired but right now it is here and there is no club that is ever going to meet the criterium like we do right now. Hopefully we won't stuff it up if we do get one. It'll be traded for an established midfielder and boy do we need that.
  5. Anyone know when the decision on the PP will be announced. I understood it happens after the last round of Home and Away, so shouldn't it be announced this week. Or does no announcement mean it isn't happening.
  6. I don 't agree with this thinking at all. Where in the criterium for the granting of a PP does it say if the AFL help you find a CEO, you aren't entitled to one. Or where does it say if you are such a basket case of a Club that you are given once off financial assistance you are no longer entitled to a PP. It isn't a God Given right, it is a mechanism to help the health of the entire competition so that it isn't dragged down by Clubs that are uncompetitive for too long. We are well and truly in that predicament, from the words of PJ and many many others. We tick the box on every criteria for a PP. We desperately need 2-3 ready made midfielders or we will be in the wilderness for another 3-5 yrs. It doesn't matter of Roos is the coach or Norm Smith, if you don't have the cattle you can't create miracles. I bet you if the AFL had any role in getting Roos to MFC, he would have required a PP otherwise it is going to take too long to assemble a list and more importantly have an immediate impact to save the Club financially with increased memberships and sponsors.
  7. Interesting to see how he navigates through another barrage of questions on OTC next Monday if he is going to announce on Tuesday. Worth the price of a ticket to watch that performance. It will be a classic.
  8. Agreed, except Tyler will be telling PJ his demands. Just like Scully Snr and GWS. And we'll pay. A lot less than the pie chugger cost GWS to get that one across the line. wonder if he'll be included in the Salary Cap too
  9. How ironic if we end up having an issue because we keep proper records and Bombers get off much more lightly because they didn't keep records so there is no definitive proof of the illegal substances they took or didn't take.
  10. Another AFL connected appointment. If he was good enough for them he's good enough for us. Wouldn't want his job in the next couple of years. Hope it's not performance based, I wouldn't want to be trying to get sponsors with the state the Club's in at the moment. Won't be easy until we have a team that starts being competitive and people want to watch.
  11. Not an option. It was only created for the expansion teams. It won't be seen again. The only AFL concession we can get is priority picks. Forget about mini drafts.
  12. It's going to be very interesting for the old MFC. Trade week starts a week after the GF. Eade or Williams can't be officially appointed until after their teams bow out of the finals. My guess (hope) is it won't be Williams and in the absence of Roos will be Eade. If Pies stay in till Prelim or GF then there is only a week for Eade's input before Trade Week. I would imagine no player is going to want to go to MFC without knowing who the Coach is going to be. But players who want to move and who are good will have most teams sounding them out to come to them well before trade week. So where does that leave MFC in trade week. Pretty behind the ball I would say. We would have been anyway after this year's performance but without knowing who the coach is going to be, I would think we are really going to struggle. I can't imagine the team can afford to hold off talks until the new coach is appointed. They will have to be having them asap. If Roos decided to come to MFC he really has to decide pretty soon or he will be severely hindering his ability to impact the trade period. If he becomes the coach I would think it would transform our ability to attract players during trade week. But the sooner everyone knows the better. Any one know when the decision on a Priority Pick will be announced.
  13. Next season will be the first in four years when I aren't heard saying "Well at least we know one thing for sure. We can't be as bad as last year." I've put that one away.
  14. Gary Pert said some weeks ago that PJ had spoken to him to agree on how they would approach Eade without disrupting the Pies. He was very appreciative that PJ was doing it this way and said he would work to facilitate any contact. I'm sure they won't stop talks taking place before the end of their season. I would say they don't want an announcement made before then, that's all. They won't want to go through what they did with sacking Neeld in the middle of their finals campaign which apparently had a significant impact.
  15. Everyone knows what he is going to do. Not coach unless something changes and then he'll tell everyone. Since he made that comment, Lions position is now available and possibly Essendons. Wonder what they will do if Hird gets suspended for 12mths which I suspect would be about right. Who will coach next year, who will coach after that. Hird? Wonder if that all constitutes something changing.
  16. Are you serious? If you are, where can you see it.
  17. Nice one. I asked him if he had been talking to Roosy. He said no. I asked him what he thought Roosy might do and his comment was. I think he likes that Coogee lifestyle too much. To borrow your term. Make of that what you will.
  18. I spoke to Misso last week. He says there is no issue with the injury. He'll be 100%. The mid season problem was apparently caused by a screw moving and rubbing against a toe. This was causing too much pain to continue so it had to be removed. It wasn't actually a complication with the injury itself. Apparently he's going as expected after the surgery. They are just being conservative so he's ready to go for the pre season.
  19. On a slightly different tack. I thought the decision to play him yesterday was one of the best decisions the Club has made in quite a while. It would have been very logical to drop him after the shocker against the Lions the week before. That potentially could have done a lot of damage to the kid's psyche for a long time. Instead of that they gave him another go and he played one of his better games. Great player management as far as I'm concerned. I am confident he is going to be an absolute gun. His innate ability to know where to run to spread and his composure to pick out best options and then deliver to them accurately can't be taught or developed. He is a player who in Hawthorn, Geelong or Sydney wouldn't have been seen in the firsts this year. He needed a season to get over his surgery and build up his body at Casey. I'm confident this will happen, he's already shown signs of it. But he's shown plenty of the other attributes that will make him a very rare player. Ollie Wines wouldn't have won us any more games than we have won this year. Hopefully we'll recruit a more experienced midfielder next year from another team who will be more ready to go than Wines and then we'll be grateful we've got Toumpas. I'm not knocking Wines by the way. He's had an outstanding season but Toumpas is a rare talent, much rarer than Wines.
  20. And Fitzy is coming on in leaps and bounds with the opportunity. Which begs the question what will happen to Fitzy if and when Clark comes back next year. I can't see the point of having two 200cm forward/ruckmen in the same forward line. We need a short speedy forward pocket not another 200cm player. Going to be a tough call in the next two years or so. Certainly hope Dawes produces something better than last weekend or maybe he'll be the one not to get a game once Hogan is there. There's a lot of players to fit into that forward line if Clark comes good and some are going to have to miss out. Not a bad problem to have for once.
  21. Seems to be a lot of confusion on here about his role. He was not a Board member, he was not the CEO which is what Cook and Nisbett are. He is the guy who is the head of the Footy Dept. This is the position PJ has said he is creating and is actively looking for someone to fill. This is the position that Mahoney is fulfilling on an interim basis at the moment and has to apply for along with everyone else. This is the position that will report to PJ and will replace the 4 people who were reporting to Schwabb. My guess he has a job to go to and told Eddie who said ok, get stuffed I'm making you work out your 3mth gardening duty. This is almost the most important position PJ has been looking to fill, he would have worked with Walsh at Nth. Connect the dots! UPDATE: Apparently he's just been interviewed on SEN and has categorically stated he hasn't spoken to anyone else. So who knows what's going on. You usually only leave a job like this in the middle of the job ie the season, if you have another job or have a falling out with your employer and you get the flick or resign.
  22. I would have agreed with you at the beginning of the year on Rivers but his deteriorating knee issue has been mentioned since he left and is so bad he's only been able to play a couple of games at the beginning of the year and that's it. Doubtful he'll play again this year. So probably ends up not being a loss and we would have been forced into a 3 year contract for more money for a player who can't play. I don't think we'll miss Moloney, he was part of the cultural problem not part of the solution. I was sorry to see Petterd go. Happens a lot with players who are injured for three years then leave go somewhere else just when they recover. Wish him the best.
  23. Watts stated that his agent was o/s on a break and on his return he thought his contract would get sorted. I seem to remember hearing a similar thing about Hogan who has the same agent as Jack Martin who has extended with Gold Coast and was the other U17 signed at the same time as Hogan.
