  1. I really do not understand the angst shown by some of the Essendon fans and Club in general with the case going to appeal at CAS. To my mind, no matter what the outcome of the AFL tribunal, it was always going to get there as the court of last appeal. The AFL and therefore Essendon signed up to the WADA rules and guidelines and have to abide by them. The time taken and the public debate have cemented 95% of the footballing public into their positions and understanding of the situation. the determination by CAS will be final but, whichever way it goes there are going to be some annoyed people. Personally, I am comfortably satisfied that the players were injected with an illegal PED. I will, however accept CAS's judgment.
  2. After that load of rubbish I would tell the whole list, and I mean the whole list, to get out of their jumpers and out of the rooms as quick as possible. No showers no nothing. Just get out. Tell them to get out and not come back until Tuesday night for a training run. If they are going to play like amatuers then train them like amatures. Make sure they understand that they only come back to training if they are willing to play for the club and the team and put in for four quarters. The same goes for the coaches.
  3. Might try The Australian NYC facebook page. it is an Australian Sports bar. Never been there but might be worth a try.
  4. Jaded, AFL Global pass at this addy http://watchafl.afl.com.au/ . I use it and it a good live direct feed. I think you can get a 1 game subscription, a months subscription or, as I have done, a 1 year sub.
  5. B: Colin Garland Tom McDonald Jeremy Howe HB: Christian Salem Lynden Dunn Heritier Lumumba C: Jimmy Toumpas Bernie Vince Daniel Cross HF: Jeff Garlett Jesse Hogan Jay Kennedy-Harris F: Cameron Pedersen Chris Dawes Angus Brayshaw FOLL: Jake Spencer Nathan Jones Dom Tyson I/C: Ben Newton Billy Stretch Aaron Vandenberg Jack Watts This is an interest team that the selectors have put together given that there are 3 or 4 that would normally be selected in the 22 out injured. I feel that is very much a 'look and see' team. lets have a look at a few players and see what they can do. On each line of that team as it is named there is interest. In the back line we can see if Tom can continue his form against Buddy. On the HB line I am enjoying watching Salem quietly progress and seemingly take big steps in his development. Toumpas on a wing against the Swans is something to watch. is he as good as people who drafted him thought? maybe this game will start to answer a few questions. The whole of the half forward line would be worth watching on it's own. Hogan and the kids. Brayshaw named in the forward line... well I assume he will play around the ground a bit and it will be look to look for his tackles. From the pine we have VdB and the new kid on the block. hope is a chip off the old one. And then there is Jack. Jack Watts. It will be a good game to watch. I am not too worried about the game score this season. I want to see the team develop and the players develop. it seems like it is a long time since we had a team that was actually enjoying playing football. Would love it if Roos told them that they have to play to the games structures but they have to go out there and enjoy their football.
  6. Lewis, 3 weeks reduced to 2 with an early plea. Hodge dent straight to the tribunal for assessment - So you would imagine at least 3 weeks on the sidelines for Hodge.
  7. Wow! Love the way Jesse is trying to rip that guy's arms off with his head!
  8. A lot of people on this site have praised Roos and his team for the development of a hard game plan and for the development of the players. Yet here we are not giving one of our players a chance to show how he might have developed under Roos. He is a player that has shown a willingness to give 100% on the ground for the team. He has had a few good games at Casey and Roos has selected him for this match most likely to do a particular job. I will wait and see how he performs and then critique rather than write him off the way many on here have. Grimes is in a similar position.
  9. For the first time in a long while I an looking forward to the footy and it is not round 1 that I am looking forward to. It's round 5! Who would have thunk it? We are going to miss Kent big time. Of those three that might miss, he is the big one closely followed by Jetta. Hopeful that Tyson will get up with an 8 day break. Grimes and Toump to come in and be told that they have to lift in hardness and application to fit in with the way the team plays and expects all players to play. Have re-watched the game and a few things stood out for me. Roos calmness in the box. A big plus for me. He takes it all in and gathers the information. Makes the changes he has to and works out what has to be said to whom. I loved VdB's hard running. No windup. Just hard running from the off. garlands game went unnoticed but he had a beauty. Watts did some good things and worked hard. Lubumbashi needs to work on his handball. Early on during the first half he missed 4 critical ones. Lastly did any one pick up the comment by Dennis...... "That's 5 posters now. 2 to Richmond and 3 to Melbourne. 6 if you count the Last Post"
  10. I have had time to reflect on the game and I think one of the most significant things that had an impact on the game happened lat week with the game Vince played on Danger field. A lot of our players would have looked at the way he played and decided to step it up. A number of them looked to me as if they put themselves on the line and really put in. I will give them the benefit of the doubt over the next few weeks a back them to win couple. Kent injured and Jetta to rest his head. Let's see who puts theirs hands up when playing with Casey.
  11. A very good hard edged win against the odds. Some excellent performances across the board by some very inexperienced players. I loved Brayshaw's game and I love the way Hogan plays his footy. He tells others what he wants, leads by example and kicks straight.
  12. Good game of footy and the boys are looking like they are running well. might just squeak this one.
  13. JKH as sub? I would like to see Brayshaw given a run from the first bounce. I like the balance of this side against Richmond.
  14. ANB played in the Casey 2's last week and went ok on 50% playing time from reports.
  15. Looks like Frost will be out a bit longer than first thought. Mission is looking at 8 weeks.
  16. I am very upbeat about this season after the first 3 rounds. I think that the game Vince played last week is a very important event in the development of this team. It has set a standard of commitment that others on the team must aspire to. On Friday night I would like to see a couple of others step up and show the same hardness. In the next few weeks I believe we will see some real development in the team structures will to win each contest.
  17. True, but it is a hell of a lot worse now then it was then. That one he missed in front goal had 3 or 4 stutters in it.
  18. For those that refer to the six Jesse kicked for Casey, go have have a look at the goals from that match. Of the 6 goals, 5 of them were from set shots and his approach did not have a stutter in it. He was very fluid in his run up and nailed each one. We need to make sure he gets back to something like that.
  19. Poor kicking by both Hogan and Garlett. Hogan's stuttering run up has to be sorted out. It is all over the place. He is very good in all other aspects of the game and will only get better. Loved the game Vince played and Tmac is a beauty. Brayshaw is excellent fo a 3 gamer and I would like to see him given a start next week. If Frost does not come up bring in Pedo. Would like to see Watts dropped. His efforts and bricks for hands attempts at marking need to be punished. Get him out of the limelight a bit and give him a run at Casey for a couple. Players need to take the first option the way they seemed to do in the first quarter. After that they looked to be overthinking it, taking a step too far and not talking. Finally, the umps were bad all day and we were on the rough end of the stick. How can Kent be punished for jumping over the top for a mark and Danger not be for doing the same thing with less of an attempt to mark?
  20. Tough game to watch with some of the basic mistakes made by the Dee's players and some of the simple shots on goal missed. They did fight it out but must be tough for the midfield to fight and then see goals missed.
  21. these players are still second guessing. not confident enough to take the first option. playing too safe.
  22. Danger might come to play for us just so he does not have to play against Vince.
  23. Hugely disappointing effort from the team from the second half of the second quarter onwards. GWS midfield were quicker, harder and first to the drop of the ball the whole time. Melbourne, flat footed, not exerting any pressure and looking for others to do the work. Big lesson for them. Sorry, another big lesson for them. Never know some day it may just click with them and they will learn the lessons.
