  1. I believe that Tomlinson will be a demon next season. I am 97% certain that it is over the line.
  2. I understand that Elliot is not one that we are intent 100% upon getting. We have had discussions, outlined an offer and made sure the door is open for further talks after his season wraps up. He understands the interest is there for a potential deal.
  3. You and me both Moony.
  4. I am sitting a long way from the corridors of power in the MFC but even I hear a few whispers now and then. Not really earth shattering or anything new. Langdon is an all but done deal unless a wrinkle develops. We are in the mix for Tomlinson with"what is being termed "a better than even chance." We have also had advanced talk with a forward that has been linked to a trade with the Saints. This rumour is very flimsy and there does not seem to be much to it so I will not pass on any further details at this stage.
  5. The definition of speed at the MFC is the ability to screw things up quicker than other teams.
  6. Agree. if there was legs to this, any number of other journos would have picked it up and run with it. Gonzo journalism?
  7. Is any one on here surprised that, after the season we have just endured, there are questions being asked about the performance of the football department and the commercial side of the organisation? I would be surprised if the questions were not being asked. With the playing group, there will be players that are restless. That is unavoidable. there have been problems on the players side and also on the coaching side. My take is that both elements are inexperienced and have a lot of lessons to take from this season. As for the supporters, well it has been a tough season to see through to the end. No question for me. I will be back to support them once again, come what may.
  8. This list is not going to be able to execute any game plan until there is a significant improvement in the basic skills. Pre season to be spent with a football in hand100% of the time, even during the time trials.
  9. To be honest, I have no idea or opinion on this appointment. There is no clue as to his role within the structure of the coaching panel. Ask me again around the bye next year when we have some indication on the progress or lack thereof.
  10. That was complete rubbish. Most of the players were not even bothering to look as if they cared. They get paid to play the game they should take pride in doing the job a well a possible.
  11. Don't know that Carey is a 'believer'. He says that there is no reason that we cannot bounce back next year. He does not say that we will bounce back next year. Personally, I think we will make the finals next year but how deep we progress will depend on injuries and fitness of the list.
  12. Maybe Chandler ha been brought in as a chop out for max at the end of each quarter. Not a hell of a lot of talls in there to move into the ruck for a bit.
  13. I have no problem at all with his departure but will wait till the pre-season to see what other changes are in place and who fills the roles to make a full judgement. From the outside I think that there must have been some significant friction within the coaching group, between McCartney and some players or both to precipitate this move. From the little I have heard on the grapevine about his departure from the Bulldogs. 5 years in the club is about the maximum I would have expected.
  14. I would have Hore in the team rather than Omac with May, Frost and Lever already in the back six.
  15. one change. may in for Preuss.
  16. I have confidence that we will bounce back next season and the main reason is that we will have most of the list having a full healthy pre-season. Unlike last year we are not going deep into the finals and we are already placing players into rest and recovery. This will ensure that at the start of training we can make sure that the players are ready to go. They will also be on the track a month earlier than last year with a new fitness structure that will be refreshing and challenging for the players. The above combined with a possibly easier draw will have us back into finals contention. A reasonable run with injuries through the season would also help. In the preseason I would like to see players doing everything at training with a ball in hand.
  17. Will be interesting to see the Casey side this week with the emergencies available to play on Sunday. I see the selection this week a a balance between being competitive against the Saint and trying to keep Casey in the race for a finals berth.
  18. I think Pruess can develop into a very effective ruck over the next few seasons. He need to work hard on his tank and his skills while being back up to Max but I do not see him sitting in the goal square with his present skill set. He needs to train with max over the off season to understand what is necessary to get to the next level.
  19. I think that Lewis has had enough and would not look at going around next year. I think he is too smart to contemplate it. He has been very good for us over the last few seasons both as an experienced head on the ground and more so on the training track. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here. If he sees a future in coaching I would hope we make a pitch for him to stay on in a role at the club. He knows and understands the coaching set up and the playing group. I think he would have lot to add to the club.
  20. Agree 100% with the interchange you have there.
  21. Will be interesting to see how the coaches handle this lineup. with the lack of tall timber in the forward 50 we may have to use a bit of left field imagination. Giving Petty a run forward is a possibility as is giving one of the other defenders a run there. Lever up forward anyone? How about both Gawn and Preuss in the forward 50 and frost in ruck for or 10 mins. petty to cover the defence. A lot of different scenarios available I just hope that we try a few of them on Sunday.
  22. Goodwin has confirmed that Gawn, Lever and Nev will all be back in this week according to the MFC website.
  23. Usually when we are up and running we rotate up to 12 through the midfield in a game. Last season every now and then we would put Hogan at a center bounce a few times a game. I liked that tactic as it made for a mismatch and took opposition out of their comfort zone. With the coverage we look to have down back on Sunday I would like to see us play a bit of Frostball at few center bounces. That might be fun to see. Might be effective s well.
  24. Looking at that team, to me, it looks light on midfield rotations. Of the 8 named on the IC, 5 of them are defensive players and 1 is a Ruck/forward leaving just 2 who can have time in the midfield. Not at all balanced to my mind.
  25. I like that the club are willing to do this. it seems they did something similar with Weideman. If it works with Oscar so much the better. if not, well, we have lost nothing. He was a pick 53 and is only 23 yo. I would give him another 2 years minimum to develop his body and skills. When he ha the ball he is usually calm and level headed and has good delivery when in form.
