  1. Unchanged winning team for the second week on the trot and almost a full list to select from. Good position to be in. For Casey we have a number of senior team experienced players running around and a number of developing players. Frost, Wagner Hunt, J. Smith, Bugg, Garlett, Pedersen, Weideman, Tyson, Stretch - that is 10 good experienced players that could slot into roles in the senior team. Excellent depth. add to that Kent who is 2 weeks from resuming and AVB who is a month away and that is very healthy. The developing players are Petty, Keilty, Baker, Balic, King and Filipovic. Not sure Johnstone or JK-H will develop much more McKenna and Maynard are injuried but seem to be on track to resume full training in the not too distant future. Looks rosy at the moment.
  2. Emergencies: Billy Stretch, Cameron Pedersen, Tom Bugg, Joel Smith
  3. I have watched replays of the last few games a couple of times and the thing that strikes me is that we are hunting the ball and the players near the ball in a structured pack. Much like a wolf pack. There is a trust that the player contesting the ball will win it. If he falters then the next one takes a turn and so on until they are successful. further away from the ball the players are making position to make sure they either present options for the ball winner or to be in position for the next contest. The players that have come into the team have also given the rest of the team confidence. Go the Demon Wolf Pack.
  4. The team as named with Sunday extras; B: Michael Hibberd, Oscar McDonald, Neville Jetta HB: Bernie Vince, Jake Lever, Jordan Lewis ? Nathan Jones, Jack Viney, Angus Brayshaw HF: Alex Neal-Bullen, Jesse Hogan, Jake Melksham F: Tom McDonald, Tim Smith, Christian Petracca Foll: Max Gawn, Christian Salem, Clayton Oliver I/C (from): James Harmes, Charlie Spargo, Dom Tyson, Mitch Hannan, Cameron Pedersen, Jayden Hunt, Bayley Fritsch, Jeff Garlett In: Tyson, Pedersen, Hunt, Garlett Out: – Assuming that Tom gets up who is on the bench and who is the travelling emergency? Harmes, Hannan and Ftich wouls all be there if it was up to me and probably Spargo if he is not fatigued. Pedersen as emergency?
  5. Good solid selection on the basis of the last couple of games and who is available. Looking at our list is interesting at the moment. We have the 22 that have been selected this week and the 4 emergencies, Wagner, Garlett, Hunt and Tim Smith. Any of those 4 could step into the team and fill a role without weakening the team to a great extent. If you add to that Viney about to become available and Bugg, Pedersen, Stretch and Frost playing solid Casey footy we have a good depth of ready players to use in any round. There is also Kent that can more than fill a role when fit. Of the rest of the list, we have Baker, king, Petty, Maynard, J. Smith, Keilty and Filipovic developing. VDB, JKH, Balic, Johnstone and Mc Kenna we have not really sighted through injury and form to be able to make a judgement.
  6. Oliver not only has quick hands but has the quickness of thought to make sure that what he is doing is a good option. I believe that at sometime in the future we will look back and say that he was responsible for taking delivery by hand to a new level that an awful lot of footballers with try to emulate. I can see some of his team mates already trying different things. A jump into a tackle with a twis of the body to get away and effective handball is one I have seen happening more often. His kicking game will develop but, like Goodwin, I will enjoy watching him knock out his handballs.
  7. I would have one of either Lewis or Vince in the team at any one time. Jones would be in the team as Captain although I believe he is not a great captain during the game quarter to quarter i want to see more speed through the middle. With them there I see us as one dimensional at times.
  8. Interchange for me should be Spargo, Fritch, Smith and Garlett/ANB. Toss up between the last two for me. Do not mind either way. Spargo and Fritch stay after performance last week and I would like to see Smith get a run to see what he has got to bring. I still do not like the look of the team with Vince, Lewis and Jones there.
  9. Tough selection again this week. The selection panel got it right last week. I did not like the look of a team with Fritch, Hannan and Spargo in it or with Lewis, Vince and Jones in it....but it shows I know very little. Putting that aside, we have one, at least, forced change with Salem out with a sore thumb. His replacement would be simple with Petracca coming in but he is no certainity to pass his fitness test. If Petracca does not get up then Wagner gets back in. If Hogan comes out with soreness then I would like to see T Smith get a run.
  10. Will be an interesting interchange selection this week given who has been named. Charlie Spargo, Bayley Fritsch, Mitch Hannan, Tom McDonald, Jeff Garlett, Timothy Smith, Josh Wagner, Joel Smith. Not a lot of midfield cover there. From that list I would imagine one of either McDonald or T. Smith, Either Wagner or J Smith (I would expect Wagner to be there) and then two of the remaining 4. maybe Fritch and Spargo?

    GAME DAY

We will win and win well tonight. It is our night.
  12. Casey have named 5 of last week's Melbourne team for the game on this Sunday. Add to the 5 Lewis out with his injured hand and that is six out. seems like too many given Goodwin's selection history. Bugg, Vince, Wagner, Fritch and Garlett, All fit and not in the first team? I would not be surprised if Wagner and Garlett end up in the final team along with Stretch,Balic, Hunt and Pedo/Weid. Personally I would go with Weid to see how he has developed but would not be disappointed to see Pedo back in the team.
  13. When is the team announced for the game?
  14. Dreadfully disappointing game on Sunday. I hope that the Selectors sit down with a blank sheet of paper, a list of all the available players and a clear idea of how the Tigers will play and how we want to play and then select a side to play. After Sunday, no one on the team should assume that they will play on Tuesday. A second week of rubbish will really impact the supporters and the club.
  15. The selectors have made the right decisions so far and the contentious decisions have worked out. I will go with what they think we need this week. Personally, I believe we do need another tall forward in the lineup, especially with Hogan roaming a fair bit in to the mid field. Not sure who we would drop for that inclusion.
  16. Aft er the 4 goal start we gave them we out scored them 123 to 62. I love that fact.
  17. Just off to sleep with the alarm set so I can watch it. Dees by 6 goals
  18. Wow. A Friday night game between 16th and 17th with no wins between them and a combined percentage between them when added together relates to the percentage of the third placed team..... Blockbuster defined.
  19. Looking at the team I see understand the ins and outs but I have a woory about our midfield speed and depth as I see Vince, Lewis and Jones all together in t he team. I would prefer to see a maximum of two of them runnig around in the team together. For me the one I would move out is Lewis.
  20. frost and Kent in for Hunt and Pedersen
  21. Watched the game live over a late breakfast on Saturday and have watched it a couple of times since. I am encouraged by the performances to date. we could have won against the [censored], it would have been a steal but I had that game down as a 50/50. The win against the Lions in Brisbane after a 6 day break is a good one, no matter how it is achieved. I thought we had more than a few players down on form but had enough up and running to cover them. Pedersen, to me was an interesting one. he did not have all that many touches but I did like his game. He delivered the ball well to Hogan a couple of times and Hogan found him in broken play as well.... The call Pedersen to Hogan and Hogan to Pedersen could be heard a lot this season before the return of TMac. Hogan was best on ground for me. it was his best game for us to date. His run down tackle of Cox was inspirational. Would like to see more from Bugg (goal kicking and general play) ANB... seems to have lost form since the pre season game and ditto Melksham. I would seriously consider dropping Lewis and telling him to calm down.... he is costing the team more than he should be. At the moment all but 4 of the list are fit to play and that means pressure on the selected team each week, as it should be. Could see a couple of changes this week for match ups and as warning shots to players that they need to keep their form.
  22. I had the game against Geelong marked as a 50/50 game. Looking back at the replay a few times I am disappointed that we did not win it, and not just by Gawn's kick. we had a big majority of the play and could have won it by 3 or 4 goals. Not worried by the loss in the context of the season but still disappointed to lose it. Changes for next week? I think we should bring in Frost to give a little more depth to the larger bodies down there and I would like to see Brayshaw in the team as well. Who to leave out? While I do like to see players given a few games to settle into the game style and pace of the game I just think Maynard needs more development at this stage. I would replace him with Brayshaw. To get Frost into the team I would drop Lewis for his indiscipline in giving away that 50. For him to do that on top of his missing games through suspension last season to my mind is not acceptable. Out: Maynard, Lewis In: Brayshaw, Frost
  23. I am in the camp that says to give him more time to develop before pointing him to the door. I think he has the potential to become a handy player for us. it is great that he has the opportunity to develop at the proper pace rather than be thrown into a 'sink or swim' situation. The context I put his situation into is to look at the development of Gawn. He was drafted 6 years before Wied and is 6 year older. it is not until 2 1/2 years ago in mid season 2015 that it clicked for him that he may have the game to be something above average. I could see the same sort of development profile for someone like Sam Wiedeman. To me he just looks like a person that is going to take longer to mature.
  24. I do not mind the bench selections. I like Maynard in, I think he is going to develop well and it will be interesting to see how he goes after the off season development. Wagner selection is obviously contentious but it may be that the coaching panel have a very clearly defined role for him to play in the game against Geelong. I look forward to seeing how this unfolds on Sunday. Melksham's selection, of course, there is no argument with. With Hannan, I can see a purpose in the selection but would have gone with either Brayshaw (if his teeth allow) or Tyson (if he is fully match fit) in his place as I think it would give a bit more flexibility. Mind you, both of these have been named as emergencies so I would assume they are game ready.
