  1. You can't just trade every player over the age of 24. Green should be our Captain next year without doubt. I'd be pretty disappointed if he was let go.
  2. Mark Seaby, my god. A lowpoint in all our lives.
  3. Not sure I rate the coaching panel any higher after these results. IMO Green was our best player in 2008. Still, congrats to Cam Bruce.
  4. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v477/rme...sh-concept7.gif That's the link if anyone wants to copy and paste it in.
  5. Adam Campbell from Freo. Big jump, massive kick. Was impressed by what I saw of him this year, but I don't know if there's an injury background or something. Now that Murphy's re-signed today he'd definately be on the market and he's a country Vic kid so he'd be keen to come home.
  6. Sandilands gets hitouts but a) they don't go to advantage and B) he does bugger all around the ground. He's 6"11 and he only hits the target with hitouts 23% of the time. Petrie is 6"5 and does it at 21%. Hille's 6"6 and also hits at 21% Petrie laid twice as many tackles, kicked twice as many goals, followed up better at stoppages and worked harder up and down the ground. Just because a guy is big doesn't make him a good ruckman.
  7. Aaron Sandilands is the most undeserving All Australian I've ever seen
  8. Green. Cheeky outside Miller chance, kicked a bag against Brisbane, including the winner
  9. b: Sam Fisher Matthew Scarlett Andrew Mackie hb: Corey Enright Tom Harley Luke Hodge c: Jimmy Bartel Chris Judd Adam Cooney hf: Brent Harvey Matthew Pavlich Nick Reiwoldt f: Steve Johnson Lance Franklin Brendon Fevola r: Dean Cox Sam Mitchell Garry Ablett int: Darren Milburn, Paul Medhurst, Drew Petrie, Joel Corey That's my guess.
  10. White would be a significant upgrade on Everitt for the role he's been filling.
  11. Watts is the logical choice because he's what we desperately need. I think you'll find with Nata that the game is going to suit him as it evolves over the course of his career. We're just coming to the end of a short period where teams were looking for giant beanpoles to counteract Dean Cox's height - guys like Sandilands will fade away now that there will be four boundary umpires, stoppages will happen a lot quicker and ruckmen are going to have to work up and down the ground a lot more. Nata has the athleticism to jump over anyone, compete at ground level and do it all day. People have to remember that ruckmen don't hit their "peak" until 24-25. Jeff White made an impact from day one for us but he was starting his third year when he joined us, and played backup for much of that first year. I have no doubt Nata will be a very good footballer, but the first three years there'll be a lot of questions about him because he won't get that much of the ball possession wise. He'll give first use to his midfield though from day one. Its right to be a bit wary of WAFL performances though - I saw Kepler Bradley dominate a WAFL Prelim Final at 17 in 2003, he was a top 6 pick and moved on within four years.

    Can't find

Runandcarrysucks had me at hello, great name.
  13. Bloody good work guys. I reckon the white numbers on the back of this one would be a great result
  14. Normally I'd agree, but five minutes into our first NAB Cup game you could see that we were over possessing the ball with excessive handballs in the middle. That we are still doing it in Round 22 suggests the instruction has not changed from day one. I watched the game on 7 and they interviewed Bailey at half time - he complained that we weren't getting the ball inside 50 enough. Newsflash! Instruct the players to move it quickly by foot and you'll get the ball inside 50 much more, rather than getting caught with over handballing in the middle. This uncontested handball happy style of footy will not work.
  15. (For away games in Melbourne only) If we say that there are 16 clash jumpers (Two for Brisbane but none for Collingwood), that is 8 out of 16 that are not white based. The statement that the AFL mandates that club jumpers must be white (or grey) based is a myth. It simply is not true. We CAN have red as the main colour, we just have to have the balls to demand it.
  16. Red is a light colour compared to our blue dominated jumper. And red clashes less with our supposed clash opposition than white does. This whole thing is a farce. The members were upset about not being consulted about the silver disgrace last year, and now the same thing is happening again. People submitted designs and I guarentee 90% were based in red, not in white. The AFL says it wants light vs dark, not black vs white. Are we gutless or do we stand for something? The Demon is back, so should the red and blue be.
  17. Yep there it is - that is the one - should definately be our clash jumper.
  18. Exactly! If Essendon don't need a white alternative, neither do we. I hate both those jumpers. WHITE IS NOT A COLOUR OF THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB. The second jumper, Option B, in Red with a blue MFC logo would be far better and would provide a genuine alternative. What a load of crap.
  19. I love Dutchy, what a star. Give him one more game, he deserves it!
  20. I'm happy with the appointment. If anyone isn't sold on his CEO credentials look at Fremantle off the field before him and look at the state they are in as he leaves. The guy knows what he is doing. The new board gets a tick from me for the way this has happened - being ruthless enough to pull McNamee when they didn't believe he was the right man for the job, and then getting the person they wanted. Time will tell how success the moves are, but I like the approach.
  21. The issue with that was that Freo promised us a better pick than 17, and then bailed out of that committment when Trent Croad became available.
  22. Yeah wouldn't mind seeing North win it

    Silverware

Disgraceful jumper. You'd really hope they've learnt from this silver farce that the supporters want red and blue. Demonland has come up with about 6 alternative designs - I hope these have been put to the club or will be in the near future because some of them were excellent - they provided a genuine alternative to our real strip, are designs that the supporters would get behind, and just as importantly they are instantly recognisable as the Melbourne Footy Club.
  24. Bang. No silver or white in the alternate strip. It's red and blue, those are our colours, that's how it has to be. I'm actually a bit surprised that keeping the current logo is in front - to me its a complete sell out lacking any soul whatsoever. Bring back the Demon.
