  1. Not sure how anyone could make a call between them on today's game. How much time was Dunn on the ground? We went in with one too tall and as a result Dunn sat on the bench most of the day. Hard to see exactly why all four of Ferg, Dunn, Miller and Holland were picked.
  2. Goal in Round 1 of 92 - on debut even? - left foot snap from the boundary line at the Punt Rd end Olympic Stand side that went a million metres into the air and somehow went through. Classic.
  3. David Williams was delisted for a year under the unwritten rule that clubs had first right to reacquire a player who sat out a year due to injury. Richmond went against this and grabbed him. He wasn't happy about it and ended up chucking it in and going back to the country. Two more recent ones - Trent Ormond-Allen and Sean Charles. Charles was more than five minutes, but after his wrist injury he didn't do much with us, then even less with Carlton and St.Kilda.
  4. If Neitz was to skipper a Premiership side it would elevate his status greatly. At the moment he is regarded very highly, but that one accomplishment, on top of what he has already achieved in games, goals, captaincy, AA and Coleman Medal, would put him over the top.
  5. Cash money in the mail Mark, should get it today or tomorrow. Thanks again mate.
  6. Check your email Buddha, have sent a copy to you.
  7. As I was telling Mark this morning when I picked up the DVD, before seeing this DVD I'd only seen the odd clip off fox footy and all of the 87 finals series. Watching some of those older clips in particular on the DVD the baulking was the thing that stood out for me. I'd seen the one with David Rhys-Jones where they stood face to face and Rhys Jones couldn't get a hand on him, but some of those ones where he was caught on the boundary line were amazing. Very Rob Harvey like in his ability to break tackles (they just seemed to slip off him every time), but his evasive skills were almost Davey like - twisting the body in a million directions to avoid being tackled. Hird is the best comparison - though Hird is definately better in the middle of a pack - perhaps that's a legacy of the era that each played in though? Some of those clips from 1987 were amazing, considering he wasn't completely committed to playing on after 86. I know he had all the injury problems, but you got the feeling watching some of those things that he looked like he could have played on for a few more years. It was like watching the last couple of years of Carey, where the body wasn't quite what it was but the ability and the awareness more than made up for it. Thanks Mark and Ash for making the DVD available, am going to pass it around to some MFC supporting mates my age so they can witness what many of you were lucky enough to see first hand.
  8. With all due respect to a side that played some alright footy, those Collingwood teams were pretty poor for GF sides. Weak competition years, similar to Adelaide's Premiership years. They were good, but they were hardly great.
  9. We've had a rough run with injuries to key players in recent decades - thinking Schwarz, Lyon, Prymke, Tingay, G.Lovett, Jakovich, go back further to Chris Connolly etc.
  10. I'd love a copy as well Mark, if you can add me to the list. Thanks Mark and Ash.
  11. You raise a valid point about players in gun teams Pantaloons - similar to the future "careers" of Blumfield/Caracella/Heffernan from the great Essendon midfield of 2000. With the exception of Hardwick, can't think of anyone from that team who has left Essendon and gone on to better things. Power wouldn't get 30 touches a week like a Black or a Lappin would in any team, he'd have to have the right guys around him. I guess he'd play more of Akermanis' role though in another side - that floating half-forward/wingman spot. Neitz is hardly overrated. I would love to have seen him have a full career at CHB - that he has adapted to play FF is a huge credit to him. There aren't many players who have won AA selection both in the backline and forwardline like he has.
  12. The Hawthorn AA selections says more about the teams than the players. We have no standout stars (i suggest Bruce would have been AA if not for injury the way he started, but that's guess work), whereas Hawthorn have a couple of stars and some very promising young kids, but bugger all inbetween. Luke Power? Harsh call, I'd love to have Luke Power.
  13. Buckley is good, very good, but not as great as the Collingwood hype machine has made him out to be. He will always be a level below the Hird's and Voss' that he is always compared with. Overrated - Tarrant, Richardson, Stephen King definately. I would have said Primus but he's retired anyway. Have never thought Wanganeen was that great either. It's funny, some of the names coming up you could make a fair arguement for being overrated. Clement is a good one. He's a very talented footballer, a well spoken guy, you'd love to have him in any team. As a footballer he is certainly not overrated. But the automatic AA selection (and the fact that he plays for Collingwood) brings his rating into question. It's the same for Buckley, if he played for anyone else (except maybe Port, equally as bad at pumping up their own) he wouldn't come into the equation as being overrated.
  14. Yes but no if it means we can't have 30 rounds. In a roundabout way not have SOO has made playing for Australia bigger too.
  15. On the topic of Andrew, anyone know what he's upto these days?
