There will be one nuffy in the middle who complains about something ridiculously minor that only they're interested in.

The length of Simon’s new contract?

    No more physical membership cards?

The seats they got for the grand final replay in December?

Yes, noticed he and Koz sprinting forward to provide an option or to apply pressure. It was unrewarded running but I saw this a bit last year and they don't care if they are used/involved... the definition of selfless! They will go and go again because it's the one time in 20 that what they do rewards the team by them being there. Pickett in particular would be a joy to coach, appears to really listen and implement what the Coaches are telling him, while the Coaches give him permission to take things on when he thinks he should. No ego, just confidence and a willingness to do whatever is required for team success.

When you have 19 and 20yr olds doing this, that's culture!

One thing I loved about playing footy was doing and seeing the unrewarded running especially into defensive 50.  As you said de, the guys at this age and with Dog teef doing it at his height is something to behold.

  3. I’ve said this a few times but how far we’ve come… “24/7 professional athlete”. I remember the days of seeing “the boys” out on Swan st, Chapel st and in St Kilda during our dark days whilst “training the house down”.

Interesting take re potential of top up players when he mentioned retired or delisted… Jonesy?!?!?! I know totally unlikely but wouldn’t be brilliant.

ANB sounds like such a good leader, we’re very lucky and we should all lap this up, look to enjoy these guys/this generation as it’s so foreign to where we’ve been. It sounds like they’re just so switched onto a concept of being the best and leaving the club in a much better state than they found it.

That's true but also don't forget North were the first Vic club to rid themselves of pokies.

So they've got to the position they're in without the pokies windfall and while continuing to receive crappy fixtures and relatively crappy stadium deals (although an improvement on what it was 5 years ago).

They have a major benefactor who gave them money to update Arden st for getting out of pokies. They’re doing ok but I’d fear a Tassie team will push them to the brink without that revenue and major sponsor in Spirit of Tasmanian.

Credit to them they do a wonderful job with the local community and refugees in general, will they ever get back to finals success, who knows.

Youve triggered a thought. Why don’t support staff like at least coaches and assistant coaches get Premiership medallions. People like Burgess deserve them just as much as well.

One of the great things about the NHL Stanley Cup is they engrave virtually every member of the winning organisation on it. assistant coaches, video analysts, physio’s, team owners etc

I brought this up last year when ppl were talking about number patterns etc. Since and including 1964 the Dees have only played in Grand Finals in the year of the Dragon. So I figured 2024 would be our year. Still might be right! Now I’m curious as to why the dragons on these guernseys. 2012 was the year of the Dragon so it’s not just a coincidence (?)

The infamous China game/trip, the Kaspersky Cup in 2010.

I played with Fred in the red'n'blue briefly, certainly a larger than life character, despite his later troubles was a great bloke to be around, certainly cared for all Borough people, supporters and players alike .

    Vale Fred

Thanks DeeDj. Any stories you’d like to share of your time at the Borough.

Roosy stated some years ago that if a player missed the pre Christmas pre season which was when the fitness base is built they would struggle to get full fitness for the rest of the season. It's safe to say the disastrous 2019 pre season shows enough evidence of how hard it is to recover competitiveness having missed large chunks of pre season.

BBB did a great job overcoming his interrupted pre season. We have no idea how much his fitness was effected compared to Weid's or how long it took for each to get back to full function to be able to build the base. BBB is a lot more experienced and has a lot more proven form to rely on in building his confidence compared to Weid who is yet to cement his career.

This is where I don’t understand, just build the player back up again and I think we’re almost past that as players are just so fit nowadays and have a “base” mostly already. If it’s a long term injury, sure but for most injuries it shouldn’t take “that long” I’d think.

if he wants to leave, he wants to leave

not like we'll be getting a spare packet of chips for him

by the end of the 2022 season he could be a two-time premiership player

There is no one out there that we should be afraid of. There are a few we need to respect. The lions, with an intact forward line are significantly more potent than team we rolled over in the prelim. The Dogs are the other that I think are going to test us if they can get Jamar UH and/or Darcy on the field and firing. More than their forward line and their ruck, they need to fix up their defensive structure though.

The third team I’m thinking of is Port. With Rozee, Butters and Dursma all back they will be a significantly better team than the one that rolled in their backs for a tummy rub from the Doggies.

Flash what does intact forward line mean? Daniher having his 3 brain cells firing at the same time?

I bumped into Daniel Turner at our local gym during the off season and had a good chat to him about his stint so far in the AFL system and the September experience.

I was also blown away by how incredibly fit he was. He'd already lost all his puppy fat and looked as lean as I had seen. He said he got a reality check with just how professional you have to be off field including your diet. Stark different compared to his 'tradie diet' as an apprentice plumber prior to being drafted.

He was doing his running program up here with Charlie Spargo who is an absolute pro when it comes to off field training standards.

His older brother has recently signed at our footy club so looking forward to getting some good updates off him.

I hope he gets a game next year.

Recruit him to Dland ala Drunkn.
