Here is an incredible article about Daisy.  Too many great comments to quote.  Just one to whet the appetite.

"But as an analyst Pearce now offers a particular insight in a commentary role once reserved solely for male champions.

“It is because she is smart. It is because she is worldly. It is because she has sat in footy change rooms and been a leader and been a mother and a professional,” McLachlan says. “When she sits there with Wayne Carey and Luke Hodge, they all respect her because she is smart and good fun and knows what she is doing. She is a peer. No other woman in the world has done it… as credibly. And she is now totally accepted by footy fans – there is not even a murmur.”

Hope you can get behind the paywall.

What has mother and good fun got to do with it ffs? Pearce is is professional, respected and a peer, that’s it.

  2. I bang on about NHL a lot but those guys, and not just the top top guys are nuts when it comes to understanding they're body is there meal ticket. They are elite athletes so I need to train and eat like one. Couple of articles about one of my fav players in Nathan MacKinnon, he is nuts about his training and food intake, the second article on how he gets on team mates about a proper diet and had the team change what is served to all of the players...

"“He’s crazy like that, he eats well. He doesn’t drink either. He only drinks water,” Zadorov said. “Two years ago in Colorado, he got rid of all the desserts he could. He also removed them from the locker room and pre-game meals. He had the white sauce (carbonara) removed from the menu when eating pasta. He even replaced regular pasta with chickpea pasta so we would eat more protein.”

“He would say, “Guys, if you want to eat this sh*t, you have the off-season to do it. When you step in here, there won’t be any more of that, because we’re winning the Cup this year.” Zadorov also explained that it worked. “All the kids on the team see him do it,” he continued, ” they look up to him and want to do their part.”

Liverpool and EPL clubs spend up big on it as well - https://www.goal.com/en/news/klopps-best-signing-how-liverpool-found-the-recipe-for/119dx07fkpe6j1vgd987pavnf1

Great to see Tracc and the boys embracing being a professional.

From reading the training reports, Dunstan was doing additional running. His omission could be due to a minor injury, although that would have been reported. Or they could be preparing him for a particular role, and he hasn't reached those standards yet in match sim. Ben Brown was given a specific training regiment before his recall. Dunstan maybe in the same situation.

How amazing to think players from other clubs that come to the Dees might not be fit enough and need a modified/longer preseason program to get up to speed. Long gone are the Rodan, Dawes etc days.

Dont think that its me he is refering to,as a supporter has been backing his cab chassis back and sits on a chair and watches training near the entrance. He is very very keen and loves the Dees!

I see today that WA is predicting half a million cases in the next few months, with its peak in late March. I’d suggest the Eagles and Dockers are in for a world of pain within the first 6 weeks of their season.

What, where did you see that Thbt?

  7. The article basically calling the Southern stand a crumbling mess and needs a refurb or it’ll lose its status as Australia’s sporting capital… laughable. It’s one thing that we don’t really kick up a fuss about as tax payers, our funded stadiums.

Build may commence in 5 years and may take 3 years to complete.

  8. We're actually very lucky in the AFL world, the start of the season see's the new rules/new "interpretations" and general "we're not here to f k around guys" over umpiring but then tends to blend into a predictable pattern. That is unless the AFL decides they want to change something midstream. But this doesn't tend to change once we hit the finals series..

NHL ice hockey is one of the biggest changes you'll ever see, they don't call many penalties in a game in the regular season but come paly off time you can literally hit a bloke in the back as hard as you can, breaking your stick and you wont get penalised. Teams/coaches/announcers literally say the regular season is fine and you can win in that but you have to be built to play "play off hockey". You need to be big and strong and be able to stick it and take the punishment you'll get in the play offs.

I thought we'd seen the plans and it WAS decided ...just not yet announced? Do you know if there has been a particular roadblock arise or things are just as they were?

I've got no inside word Wells and Perty et al have seen the plans and they look great from what they've said publicly but until it's announced it's not a done deal, especially with an election on the way...

It looks like they used a combination of tightened their rules around how players/coaches interacted with others and then reduced the time needed in quarantine for those who were fully vaxxed - only 24 hrs if non-symptomatic.

I wouldn't be surprised if teams go into some sort of bubble type setting on the eve of finals, it might not be to play at the same venue, but all players/coaches might be living at the same resort, eating together, taking the same transport etc. with harsh restrictions on any outside movement. Clubs might be happier with this knowing it's only for the finals period. Of course that all depends where the virus is up to and how many vaccinations are needed by then?

Didn't they only test players if they were symptomatic as well in the end?

Is the re-surfacing anything to do with the new training base or just a separate thing? Either way it will be better for our players feet.

Separate thing, it is also not just a resurface, the oval has been expanded to now make it as long as the G and as wide as Etihad.

The home base is still to be decided/approved/announced/whatever but it is assumed it will be an addition to AAMI park.
