Every year, people jump to conclusions based on results in the first round of the (long) season. Making a call before half-time of the first and only game to be played is taking it to a new level.

The risk, of course, is that the bigger players can get run off their feet by smaller, speedier types.

SWYL, you've clearly made your mind up about this issue and have laboured the point on this site. However, injuries can occur at any time, be that at training (McVee), during intraclub match sims (McAdam), practice matches/sims (AMW) or obviously during an actual game. In such a physical sport, it's a risk that can't be avoided. Keeping things inhouse won't mitigate that risk.
