Alternative Australian Flag
Michael Leunig makes a strong case for the corrugated iron flag.

Ruling the world - London 1989
Crikey, if ever there was a case for one team to wear an alternative strip or at least white shorts!

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
There's probably a joke about Christians and Sinn to be made, but it's not as if I'm the type to do that.

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/anglesea-cliff-collapses-with-a-huge-boom-like-a-mine-blast-20211021-p5921e.html A section of cliff near Anglesea on the Great Ocean Road has collapsed into the ocean. The kicker is that the area is known as Demons Bluff. Authorities expect further collapses to occur in the vicinity of Kardinia Park over the next couple of years.

There might be a marketing tie-in with our wine sponsors, Bleasdale Vineyards. Brander Vino has a nice ring to it.

Merch/Memorabilia
My better half has been leaving jewellery brochures scattered around the house. Never let it be said that I can't take a hint. I'm going to buy her a nice magazine rack for Christmas.

Hibberd Signs On for 2022
I can't wait to see him step up, take flight, rise to the occasion and tread a path to more Premiership glory.

eth-dog's 2021 Phantom
He's been consistently good without starring for North Ballarat Rebels on a wing this year and there doesn't seem to be a huge gap between his best and his worst. By all reports, he is a dedicated, hard working and level-headed kid who would give his all to play AFL.

We are a chance to draft Jacob Van Rooyen, which means "Clearing in a Forest" in Dutch. I wonder if he has relatives named Glen or Dale.

Nice write-up about Ballantyne in this morning's 'Age'. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/driven-ballantyne-s-long-road-to-the-cusp-of-the-afl-20211015-p5909x.html

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
1. When we won the flag in 1964, there were only 20 players in a team (18 on the ground and two reserves). It then went to 21 (18 + 3) and then to 22 (18 + 4) but we didn't win it during those years. 2. With the advent of the sub, this year was the first year that any team consisted of 23 players (18 + 4 +1)

He most definitely was, as this article on the MFC site in 2017 shows. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/77981/melbourne-welcomes-nga-talent

2021 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever
Spot on, durango, the criticism was unrelenting - from the media and fans of other clubs, as well. What makes the deal even sweeter is that we also received a pick from Adelaide that we used to draft Harry Petty.

eth-dog's 2021 Phantom
His prediction at pick 47, Jamo Ballantyne, is from my home town of Portland. We haven't had one from there since the glory days of the 50s with Stewart Spencer and Clyde Laidlaw.

Bruce McAvaney on Petracca
I've quoted this just because I wanted to see it again. Superb assessment!

Charlie Constable
Great suggestion. Collingwood has had lots of experience of dealing with Constables.

Training Ground?
I think Timothy may have already done that gag.
-
Pickett vs
Petracca already drafted by Skuit with pick 3. Does this mean that PF forfeits his pick due to an ineligible selection?
-
Training Ground?
It's nice that umpire Chamberlain has two streets named after him near York Park.
