  1. Me too ..... Time to change the bloody rules. After all, the AFL is always doing it (lol). Edit: added (lol) which is what CC should have done in the Vault.
  2. I'd add Cam Pedersen to that list. Imo they have the where-with-all to form the nucleus of a potent, multi-pronged attack.
  3. Jeepers Jack, I hope some of your competitive / winning edge rubs off on the team this year!
  4. Stan 'Pop' Heal? Premiership player for the Dees and WAFL in same year.
  5. Some of the arguments for Toumpas are pretty convincing. I've moved from "Wines will be a star for us" to "I'm glad it's not my decision".
  6. Ron Barassi (jnr.): Ron Barassi (sen.) first appeared for the Dees 1936. Ron Barassi (jnr) first appeared for the Dees 1953. Stupid logic so I thought I should explain it.
  7. I don't want to split them. Circa 2015 and beyond ....... the best midfield duo in the AFL ........ that would do me nicely thanks very much (who wouldn't want J. Selwood & Mitchell heading up their mids?). Fingers crossed that Wines comes our way!
  8. Brilliant. For me it's all summed up in the words "the AFL doesn't own the game. They are servants of the game."
  9. Agree. The Wiz from 33 to 8 is the one that sticks in my mind.
  10. Stephen Febey? (basketball) Edit: added the bit in brackets.
  11. That's a good question Old Dee. Is he a possibility to take Barty's spot in the back pocket? I'm not convinced (at this stage anyway) that he has the endurance or burst speed to be a genuine mid., but his hardness and kicking could be assets on the FB line. How is his discipline (?) and can he play tight enough(?) I guess these are the questions for me. I guess that if he's shadowing Jonesy on the track, it may suggest that he is seen as a potential mid.
  12. Agree, it's an impressive highlights package. Bonaddio seems to have pace and exceptional foot skills, something that we need in spades.
  13. Excellent interview. In some ways he reminds me of Mitch, and I can see him bringing similar qualities both on and off the field. I think he will prove to be a great get for our club.
  14. Good luck Barty. You were always Mr 110% in terms of commitment and effort, and that attitude will stand you in good stead for whatever lies ahead. It's certainly not hard to see why Neeldy held you in such high regard, and why you were elevated to our leadership group. If your future remains in footy, I hope we'll see you around the Club down the track.
  15. It's mentioned under Doug Heywood, which is where this discussion started.
  16. These facts are verified in the 'Encyclopedia of Melbourne Players' (Holmesby & Main).
  17. Sneaky question, and damn good get if you are on the money.
  18. I once thought Ricky was a potential star for our club, but his 'star' has certainly faded over the last few years. Maybe injury; maybe attitude; maybe just not good enough; and possibly a bit of all three, but the bottom line is, he never got anywhere near playing consistently good football. It was certainly time to move him on imo, and I would have no regrets if he is able to rejuvenate his career at another club. Good luck Ricky.
  19. He already has too many (brain) explosions for my liking, especially those of the off-field variety.
  20. The list of 'possibles' is long and distinguished, but I'll go early with Percy Beames.
