  1. Or the flip side - under carbed.
  2. It's not a rumour - He definitely pinged it, just not sure how bad.
  3. At some stage I'm sure - I'll see if I get any Training Report withdrawals.
  4. They did have the tripod operating up at Maroochy - I suspect that Roosy might have been controlling/ monitoring it from his scissor lift position. Who is oO Lunar Silhouette? In terms of getting down to Gosches? One Demonlander has offered up some accommodation, but no luck on the airfare as yet. Not sure I class myself as a fan boy, probably more of an avid Demons supporter I'd say. Like I said in a previous post, I'm more of a player critique-er than a befriend-er and talent spotting in the shadows is more my go. Having said that, I'll gladly meet up and compare notes with you when I get a chance to come down - I'll let you know.
  5. * Good spirit amongst the guys, playing what looked to be a cross between ring a ring a rosie & pass the parcel football style. Classic! Shouldn't forget the blindfolded pin the tail on the donkey - that's always a good one to get us using the corridor more.
  6. I don't know....he's running really well and been solid over the last 11 days. Surely it has a lot to do with needing to get his shoulder built back up before full contact training - He'll be cherry ripe come round 1
  7. No problem guys - all in a days work Also my way of giving back to the guys down in Melbourne who provide an ongoing coverage for supporters interstate like myself.
  8. Forgot to mention in my earlier post. *Trenners headed off site early today. Perhaps for a swim, cycle & weights session from hell. Got to feel for him
  9. My approach to training reports is that I write down about who and what catches my eye. These guys haven't caught my attention a heap for what ever reason during camp, but that's not saying they aren't training well. I think with Toump he's a head down, bum up and hat low kind of trainer and this might contribute to him sliding under my radar a bit. Another poster from Saturday's session said he heard his name called a lot (in praise) I tend to shut out a lot of the chatter and focus on what I see. I did notice Toumps really neat & consistent disposal today. He's a very dilegent trainer from the looks of it. I can't recall seeing Salem at all today. The general feeling is that they are both tracking nicely and I'm looking forward to see what they can do in NAB cup.
  10. * Slightly cooler today, but only by a smidge. * Roosy takes up his post in the Cherry picker again. * Vince only one running separate from the main group. * A fair few tackling drills today - Going in hard. *ANB getting praised for his disposal - I concur. * Brayshaw prides himself on his disposal - you can tell. * Newton looks to be a good pickup. Impressed me several times today. Disposal and inside 50's awesome. You can see a bit of Port play about him also. * Good spirit amongst the guys, playing what looked to be a cross between ring a ring a rosie & pass the parcel football style. * Good kicking early on. Some guys hot and cold between days, but overall looks pretty good. * Looks like being a big session, geeing each other up to keep setting the standards. * Vanders, Harmes & Kent all with the main group (not rehab today). * Petracca good vision & hands. * Garlett looks sharper today - good speed and best I've seen him all camp today. * Not a big fan of the attitude today. Seem to be a bit tired, grumpy and getting up each other (long camp) * Vanders doing pretty well again, getting lots of direction about where to go on the field today. * The guys who still have to prove themselves are constantly standing out for their efforts. Suprise-suprise * Vanders high half forward, Brayshaw high half back in Sims. * I get a higher perch to see what Roosy likes so much about being high up. It instantly occurs to me how much of a difference the good kickers make to the game plan. The lefties in particular (Hawthornesque) open up the game so well. Newton, Kent, Whitey - It reminds of what Davey use to do. * The session is taking a little nose dive at this point - A few look a little over the camp and starting to mentally switching off. Looking for the finish line - My advice ... get some more Carbs for the brain, it supposedly runs exclusively on glucose. * Lamumba streaks out of the middle with a nice read - He did some nice things today. * Roosy addressing the troops, hope he is telling them to lift their game. * Petracca a little off early, but lifting his efforts now and impressing again. Roosy has definitely told them to finish off the camp strongly and they all picked up their standards - well done boys. * Matt Goodrope looks like Trennners from a distance. * Howie dancing a little jig, hammy can't be too bad. * Newton a good tackler as well - Is there anything he isn't good at, any weakness? Haven't found it yet. * Into a few drills to get something right and then back into match sims. Finishing off strongly now. * Roosy more happy with them now. * JKH/ King/ Watts & Howe off to ice up early. Didn't see Howie train again but I could be wrong. * Kent & Riley doing a bit of extra running at the end (catch up from being in rehab I suppose) * Bit of specific individual training to finish off. * Signing off from Maroochydore. It's been a great week and a half. I realised afterwards just how much I have got out of going along each day. You definatley feel a part of it in a way and it's a real boost to the work day. * Well done MFC - now go and win some games.
  11. No specifics, but Howe did have it iced up. I didn't see it happen - walking around reasonably OK afterwards. No sign of Hoges today. Someone told me he might have been proppy and stopped training but that could just be precautionry stuff (make of that what you will ). He always looks proppy to me with his waddle.Thought some guys might have gone for a swim earlier - he might have gone also. He has been wrapped in cotton wool at various points throughout the camp but I wouldn't be jumping to conclusions. Tyson came off with a lower leg concern but no idea how bad (shin?). He was still walking alright. I'd suggest that it might be a case of the medicos playing it safe with niggles - but who knows?
  12. Pretty casual light skills training day today so not much to report. Lamumba entertaining the troops, has them in stiches - looks like it's comedy hour. I like ANB's allround confidence, and his goal kicking was impressive - could hear a nice thump each time. Breaking the skills down and focusing on technique. Kent reminds me a bit of Jakovich with his attitude - I think he likes the limelight and wants to be "the man". Fine by me just what we need. Finished with a comp to see which teams could hit the goal post the most in one minute. Dunny copping a ribbing for every miss. Whitey & M. Jones did well and would you believe the the Ruckmen very hard to beat as a team. Maybe because they have a lot of practice at hitting the post. Speaking of posts, that's the end of mine.
  13. Fruit...doesn't say much for holidaying in Asia then. Thanks for the compliment.
  14. A few observations from today's training: * I'm getting a little tired of training reports so today's is brief, but I'll dig deep Tues/Wed and keep setting the standards. Saturday's reports show that the work I'm putting in is starting to pay off. Focus Bruiser.... last quarter ... push it out mate! * Another humid one and the sun had a real kick in it when it showed itself today. * No sign of the coaches for the first 2/3 of training, they showed up for the match sims. First time I've seen Stafford at camp today. * Skills were a little off I thought early on, with the fumbling a touch contagious. The skills got better though once they cleared out the weekend's cobwebs. * Earlier part of training not quite as intense as Sat, but it picked up as the session went on. * Stretch's speed and skills - wow * Noticed Toump a bit more today. * Harmes had good intensity and good skills I thought. * A lot of the players sounded like coaches out there today. * Tommy Mac back to the change rooms for something. * Oscar Mac's kicking a little better than Sat - Better than I thought. * Crossy's kicking does look to have improved. * Whitey's kicking is right up there with some of the best left footers I've seen - bullets * Jonesy reckons Newts is going really well. Real happy with him. * Young guys setting the standards at times in training. (Come on young Demonlanders, got to step up to the mark with some good training reports back in Melbourne) * Later in training Jonesy really happy with the standard being set. * Vandenberg stands out the most to me today. Has been in rehab a lot but more involved today. Really sharp hand-balling and strong precise kicking. A good find - Look for him to impress in the NAB cup if fit, but looks right to go right now. * Garlett 70m Torp goal, makes it look easy.
  15. The senior guys seem to be more aware of encouraging the guys coming up through the ranks. More aware of what areas each other need to work on. Not a whole lot of finger pointing. Generally more caring for each other. More leading through doing rather than telling (except for coaches) That's how I see driving the standards. Everybody generally more calm & focused. Coaches setting the tone with all of the above.
  16. Forgot to mention one other observation from yesterday's training: *McQueen this one's especially for you mate* On a couple of occasions duration match simulation, Petracca demonstrated how he loves to rise to the challenge. In hindsight, I've seen this quality in him a couple of times during the past week. It tells me he has the makings of a big game player, which is pretty important given our need for match winners. Didn't want to heap too much pressure on the kid but I couldn't help myself.
  17. He seemed to be in a good head space yesterday. At one stage he took on the Ruckmen in a bit of driving tackle practice, I don't think he moved them much. All having a good laugh about it. The training is obviously not his most favourite thing to do but nor was it for Davey. If we can get some of those match winning qualities out of him that's worth the punt.
  18. Other side of ground maybe? That's good to hear mate. I was starting to worry a bit.
  19. I'd say it was an unprofessional question from the reporter, she should have known better than to ask about footballers down time.
  20. I'd say physically, ongoing. Training strongly though.
  21. Funny you should mention that, I realised afterwards that I hadn't noticed him at all today and questioned what to make of that? Still don't have an answer.
  22. A few photos from today's session. They were taken at least 2.5 hrs into today's training. They boys were pretty well spent by this stage, and they are doing a velodrome style team pursuit with the back runner sprinting past the pack to take his turn to lead from the front. http://imgur.com/a/H5uYb
  23. * Sunny day and already hot at 9am. Probably the hottest day of the camp so far. * Putting on a bit of a show for the fans. Players very vocal from the outset. * Petracca casually lets rip with a 75 meter torp from the boundary. Skill and power combo. * Roosy not taking training today? Didn't see a lot of him. At a guess Goodwin was at the helm. * A few run throughs and kick to kick for the crowd. * Channel 7 and Win TV cameras in attendance. * Noticeable the lift in intensity for today's training from the past few. Pumped up and game speed seems to be on the agenda. * Full ground drill transitioning from the loose ball in the back half to kick a goal at other end. * I noticed the players that where either on or off "AFL intensity" a lot today. Seem to be a theme for the day. Brayshaw a little off the intensity at first but nice composure and disposal. Not far off. * Oscar Mac's disposal is where his brother's was at the same age. * Salem picks the option well. * Newton kicks a bullet. Hodge like. * First thought is Stretch will need time in the AFL, then he proves me wrong with good speed. Players correcting themselves well. * Petracca still learning the system, gets corrected. * Goodwin good tone in his voice & calf muscles. Clear & Concise. Not "putting down" with his instructions. * Can't wait for Stretch to put it all together, something about him excites me. * Viney leading from the front in the 50m sprints. * What makes Petracca more AFL ready is he looks to be adjusted to AFL intensity already. * Terlich's ready to go, great intensity - underrated. * Tyson has a glint of a "star in the making" about him. * Salem up to the intensity. * A Pelican & an Osprey fly over head, the birds thread might be making a comeback. * ANB had a bit of Leigh Mathews about him. Surely it's not just the hairy legs. * Conditioning of these guys is superb given the conditions. Don't know how they do it. * Vandenberg has a nice boot on him. Threads one from the boundary 50m out like it is standard practice. * Petracca has star presence again. * Whitey a good leader * Watts bounces 3 times from the middle and bags a sausage - mmmm.... paleo (not) * Some rehab guys joining in the final match sims. Noticed Kent out there, great tackler. * How Viney can sprint like that after 2.25 hrs in this heat is mind boggling - Mentally strong * Terlich impresses me again. Good trainer anyway. * How 15 players crammed into a 4 man sheltered interchange bench to get shade has me staggered. Jonesy talking about taking your time to get composed to get the kick right when your fatigued. Good spirit amongst them. Lamumba says a bit also. * Kent doing an interview with local WIN/9 camera-women before I leave. Talks about how the heat is good for the lungs and some boys are going to Noosa over weekend and some guys catching a flick. Great session - really impressed with the players spirit today. I'll check back in Monday.
  24. Well Dawesy gave me the Death Stare across the fence the other day. Maybe next time I'll say I'm your mate and he'll calm down a bit. No need to worry about me - I'm more of a player critique r than befriend er.
