  1. Does anyone else think that Brayshaw has been ranked higher by the Demons than other clubs due to his style of play suiting the Roos game plan?
  2. Looks likely now Redleg doesn't it, although I did notice this line in the article that still keeps the idea of McCartin to StKilda alive depending on how you choose to read it: "The Saints traded in pick 21 for Rhys Stanley, believing the player they pick will exceed what the 23-year-old would have delivered if he had not been sent to Geelong". What's your view on that comment?
  3. And he could have been drafted with the very last pick in the Rookie draft last year. Blind Freddie could see he was a talent last year - God knows what these recruiters do with their time. Trying to figure out what is wrong about players rather than trusting their instincts. It seems like recruiting has become too business like and systemized and they are constantly trying cover themselves against risk. If other clubs don't like a player then it's like an infection that spreads through the entire recruiting fraternity. You'd think they could pay someone to tell them that. If Peter Wright slips out of the the top 10 that will be another example of it - What a joke.
  4. It does make sense because a lot of team likes to weigh up their selections by garnering other teams interest in players. If the Saints are tossing up between Petracca & McCartin and then we hype McCartin up a bit and make it out that they're missing out on a star then that might sway them to pick him. Happens all the time.
  5. OK - I'll get back to you with a list when I get a chance to write something up....On the condition that you can guarantee me that you are being honest by saying you are genuinely interested in who I would have picked. If you are more interested in trying to find faults in my previous statement about me being able to put together a better list then you are wasting my time and you can go off and try and be right with someone else. If you want me to be honest with you then you have to be honest with me also. So which is it?
  6. Your not Paul Gardner by any chance are you?
  7. I'd say it's because the Dees are attempting to get a certain someone to drop into there lap.
  8. I was comparing Brayshaw to Mclean, not commenting on Mclean's draft year of which was all-round a shocker and not a good example to use. Having said that, I would have taken them both and compared to what else was available at the top of the draft that year there production has been pretty decent.
  9. If I was on the Recruiting team we would have had a shot at a premiership by now jizzed1d. I have a very good track record of picking players throughout the years. I'm entirely within my rights to say that I like other players more than than Brayshaw in the draft and time will tell whether I'm correct about it. Being a good recruiter means you have the capacity to look beyond the general consensus, casting an eye into the future to see what these kids will be like. Brock McLean was a good mature bodied ball getter as a 18 year old and look how how he turned out. I see Brayshaw as a similar type to Mclean, without the same aggression and these type of players can be secured low in the draft every year without fail. My choice is to look for superstar potential at pick 2 & 3 and not simply looking for a safe bet. Safe bets won't win you premierships Jizzed1d.
  10. My mail says the same. Golf is a good example of making use of Levers - definitely another sign I wonder if the Dees still hold hope of McCartin going at 1 and Petracca dropping to us. I wouldn't rule it out just yet. And if that were to happen, would the Dees go Petracca & Lever? I definitely would
  11. With you 100% on this - It would be one scary forward line. I like the idea of these guys developing like Schwarz & Neitz did in their development years. Having other talented guys to train against & push each other is a valuable development tool in itself. Question is who has the final say at the draft table.... Is it Roosy's or Taylor/ Viney's call? You'd have to assume Roos pulls rank with his philosophy on not drafting bigs from the U18 comp.
  12. Article from the middle of this year worth the read. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/forgotten-man-ben-newton-ready-to-step-up-for-power/story-fnia6ojc-12269037 "Now he has described the pick as “a real feather in the cap for Parks (recruiting manager Geoff Parker)’’. While the jury remains out on Newton — the football world still needs to see what he can do at AFL level — Rohde is convinced Parker has nailed the selection and that the Power has drafted another high-quality midfielder to add to its already deep on-ball brigade. “I’ve got to say there might have been a few doubts along the way but he (Parker) has turned out to be right,’’ Rohde said."
  13. Surprised I didn't remember - think I was at that game. This might explain the nagging feeling I've been having about the Brayshaw name. I've been trying really hard lately to convince myself that Angus was now worthy of our pick 2 or 3 and this info has completely shattered that idea - Even if it was his old man up against Jaka kicking snaps from outside 50 going through post high.
  14. That would be a great if true. If the Saints take McCartin, then taking Petracca & Wright would be the way to go for me - Wright is going to become such as valuable and dangerous player in the years to come and way too good to pass up.
  15. I don't disagree. The reason that I would use one of pick 2 or 3 on a tall is because the opportunity to recruit quality big guys don't come along anywhere near as often as they do with midfielders. This year the quality lies with the talls and I find that too hard to pass up. You can find quality midfielders way down the order and it happens every year. Pick 40 should get us someone that other clubs are trying to hide away like we got with Dean Kent - a star in the making. Pick 23 would have helped.
  16. Petracca - Raging bull/ Freight train and no problem with his arrogance because he's aware of it. Wright - Jamar's getting on and Gawn's an injury risk. We lost Clark and he has Clark like ability. Lever - Actually looks like he has a bit of toe for a big bloke and classy. Pavlich? Durdin - Liked him but probably out of contention since acquiring Frost - similar but with more class McCartin - Already have one in Hogan. Can you have too many? Only reason not to pick him. Laverde - A real dynamo that reminds me a bit of Matt Jones the way he uses his pace. Brayshaw - An excellent nose for the ball and a good leader. His disposal worries me a little. The video highlights are quite obviously doctored to suit someone's needs. Why on earth would they show highlights of players kicking behinds? See past it.
  17. Once again this is how it was presented to us in the media, leading us to believe that Stkilda were considering offers down to the wire. I see it that Stkilda had made a decision from some way out to keep pick one and the way it was reported was all lies including the rejection of GWS's offer. There was a more reputable media guy (can't remember who) who subtly let slip early in the trade period that he didn't think the Saints would trade out pick 1 now, and that happened to coincided with the talk surrounding us talking turkey with the Bulldogs. Do you know this for sure because I'm not privy to that - Can you elaborate?
  18. The media and Stkilda are full of [censored] for one. Secondly, the Saints wanting to downgrade to pick 4 and being linked to McCartin as the reason for wanting that trade - we snookered them by threatening to trade one our picks to the Doggies who would have taken him. Thirdly, trading out Stanley. Fourthly, the media are full of [censored].
  19. Is he as motivated and professional as Sylvia though?
  20. So you're certain that the Saints are taking Petracca are you Rjay?
