Why do you need to do battle? Why so aggressive? What are you wanting to prove? Surely you can channel your energies more productively than waging war against people on here. Picking a fight with the moderators is not one your going to win, unless your goal is to get banned? Maybe you have been already and that is why you are being so belligerent? In case you haven't noticed Wiseblood it's a football forum not a fight your fellow supporters forum. If your all frustrated and pent up maybe go hit a punching bag with a picture of a magpie on it or something. You don't have to read other people's comments. -

They certainly won't be jumping to your defense. Garlett was another that really impressed me with his training a week ago. -

Having been to a couple of sessions at Maroochydore this year I'd say overall the skills look to be up a notch from this time last year. The change in training style to more footy drills and less plain running is also noticeable - This might explain why I've noticed an improvement in skills. The way I see it this could be because the players are less fatigued from the intermittent running sessions meaning less skills errors being made or because the skills are being honed more because more time is being spent on footy drills, or a combination of both. It's because of this change in training style that I find it challenging to gauge improvement across the board but I think individually it is pretty obvious who has upped the ante. Gawny, Harmes, Jones & Kent were the most obvious. Gawny is really attacking the play with Gusto, carrying on the improvement he made during the last season. If he stays fit then look out because he will make some opponents look silly. I find it hard to believe but somehow Jones has managed to get better again this year despite his injury. I'm tipping Harmes to find a regular spot this year. He just a goer and there's something about him. Kent is just all class and has got himself fitter. He impressed me last January also an just like Gawny I'm tipping him to be a real star for us this year. Of the others that have caught the eye: I like the way Bugg is going about it, he'll be a good pick up. Watts looks set to have a really good year. Oliver is a dead set ripper. Once he finds his feet he is going to make the selectors at Vic Country look silly. Love his intensity and awareness around the ball. Booming kick, and great hands. What I saw of Weidemen was pretty impressive. Good turn of foot and great hands and great foot-skills for a big guy. Mitch Clarke like but a better mark more dual-sided. Didn't see a lot of Hulett. He is another really good set shot for goal though. Tyson will poll well at the Brownlow if he can stay on the park. Overall the team looks fitter and more team oriented than last year. My first impression of training (despite being more simplistic in nature) was that we have more lefties and hard nuts on the list than this time last year. It's probably the observation that will stay with me the most as the season starts and probably a pretty good place to leave it - I can see us just sneaking into the 8 this year. -

I don't know for certain, but I'll be working on that assumption. -

He looks a tad underdone at the moment. One year on you can see that he's settled in with the group a lot more and is setting himself to be an more important cog this year. I'll get down to a session this week and I'll keep an eye on his progress - Hopefully he can win one off Chunk before the weeks out. -

More in sole rehab last year I'd say. Especially noticed that a lot of the guys in the rehab group integrated into the matchplay a lot more than last year. -

The most focused, steely & determined I've seen the squad in some time - all signs that there's big things ahead this year. -

He's got good game sense this bloke. -
Wouldn't mind betting that Weidemen gets 13 seeing that was his number at Eastern Rangers.

Anyone else able to lip-read Murray when Sam got selected ? When Roosy handed Sam his Guernsey, it looked to me like Murray said it's not Black & White or something to that effect. -
NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 3 & 7
Spin-it-to-Goodwin-it replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looks like it. My read is that the Dees have been hot on Oliver for some time now and nothing is going to move us off him. We'll pick him first up, with the Bombers going Francis & Parish. Which will leave us with the Weed. I must admit I'm a bit surprised that Oliver is the guy that we needed to get ahead of the Bombers for, but the more info that comes out about this guy the more there is to like. -

It does look like being Oliver & Weidemen now going by the tea leaves - Both skilled big bodied competitors. Gee they kept their interest in Oliver very well hidden till now. -

NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 3 & 7

Fair point...sure to have been part of the discussion on who to take. Given all the talk about bringing in competitors, that for me raises the question about how much of the ability to compete against hardened grown men stems from the mental qualities as much as it does the physical attributes. Viney's is a good example, but I suppose he was nailing grown men as a 16 year old which Parish doesn't do to the same level. Is there room to draft a more outside player high up the draft nowadays? I don't know. If Roosy gets his say on getting in the bigger bodies then that swings it in favor of Oliver. -
That stuff will make you fat and shorten your lifespan

It's similar to when you get told the clubs are going through a proper and open interview process for selecting a new coach when all along they have someone cherry picked. The most recent example being Worsfold.
-
Well if he said that then it must be true then, because all recruiters speak the truth don't they?.....in fact I guess you could say there in the truth business. All joking aside, I appreciate you relaying the information Redleg. If we take Parish at 3/4, then I will maintain that my view was correct. If we take Oliver however, I will apoligise for not believing yourself & Taylor.
-
Last year I would of agreed with you and I understand your reasoning. For me it's time to take a calculated punt on one of each, especially if we are eager to please the Hulk in some way. The drungle drums say Weidemen at our second pick, and logic to me says Parish for our first pick. I would modify Twomey's mock to look something more like this: Weitering Schache Mills Parish Francis Oliver A'choo Weidemen
-
Maybe we will take Oliver with our first pick and he does look a good prospect, but I simply find it hard to believe that he is player we traded up from pick 6 to get. This part of it doesn't make sense to me.

You've sold me. Edit: Pick 4 - Weidemen Pick 10 - Curnow Pick 40 - Lovell Pick 46 - Morgan
