  1. kudos, u got a laugh out of a very dissapointed demons fan
  2. Dont lose hope, we may be without LJ for awhile. But the great Wayne Carey stuffed both his shoulders before the age of 20, and hes the best overhead ive ever seen. We just have to wait and see what happens
  3. are we destined to be a minnow? will the gap between bigger and smaller clubs continue to grow because of the salary cap meaning next to nothing. we already get hardly any primetime exposure compared to Carlton, Essendon & Collingwood, so have trouble growing our support for the future and now we are being hit with the second punch in a combination in that we probably dont have the same kind of clout as these clubs to pay players.
  4. Did the early ascension to captain contribute to Carey & Voss becoming 2 of the best players the games seen in the past 2 decades? Hird was captain very young too i think, maybe theres something to be said for taking the risk if he continues developing at his current rate
  5. First Judd at Carlton now Ablett at Geelong, other clubs are exploiting these 3rd party deals to lure/keep superstar players, Its no co-incidence that hes getting offered this role within a few days of their president pleading for help paying him, but what about us at Melbourne could we keep up if we developed a champion team or would we be bound to what we can actually pay players in the cap and lose players to clubs with rich supporters organising 3rd party deals that we couldnt compete with much like clubs cant compete with the GC and their open chequebook. What sort of clout do you think Melbourne has compared to other clubs to exploit this salary cap loophole and would our board be doing the wrong thing if they actually kept to the spirit of the rules in keeping to the salary cap limits
  6. Only explanation is that Robbo upon getting the arse by the club cursed the #24. Liam switch back!!!
  7. i dunno, maybe that the bloke knows how to get the group to win games of football?, thats why we are here isnt it?. howmany premiership coaches/players do we have on the board?, what makes them supreme experts on if this guy has the right stuff, despite him hardly ever winning on the day
  8. It seems the players went in with your attitude, which is entirely the problem. Subiaco, MCG, ****ing MARS they should always beleive they can win and EXPECT to win before every game North have a list thats as young as ours, their guys arent even top draft picks and they were up against one of the best teams of the last 2 decades, they didnt adopt a defeatist attitude, they showed up and they gave it to the CATS, and the Cats players didnt like it, they were [censored] off as a group that they were getting a pounding from a bounch of kids, they rallied and slammed on 6 goals in 11 minutes, North still held the line and every North aligned person that saw that game would be thinking about putting their hand in their pocket to buy a membership this year, i doubt our performance convinced anyone
  9. Who knows, fact remains is football clubs need to win games, wooden spoon after wooden spoon after wooden spoon is not acceptable. Why sign him up? what has he proven? To sign him up just to avoid media pressure is a cop out, as if the football journos and greater football world arent going to know that we are in massive trouble if we serve up another year of crap just cos we have our underperforming coach still signed for another 2 years. You seem to think Genuis is signing up someone who may not be up to it simply to avoid a few articles that would be well founded if we cant get some wins on the board and show that this club has a future Mikes point is well made, there isnt another club out there circling and waiting to pounce on Dean Bailey
  10. DB and the MFC deserve to be under pressure after 2 wooden spoons, and if we dish up another season of junk football, i for one hope Mike Sheahan and every other football journo gets into us.
  11. We didnt even push Freo at any stage of the game, they even had players they stole from the VFL make our guys look second rate. Hes been there 2 years, and the result is 2 wooden spoons, what if we finish bottom again this year? what if we go backwards and dont even get the 4 wins we got last year?, no sense signing him until we see some gameday results
  12. I wouldnt of rated the Roos list better then our before the weekend, and im still not sure i would now, but one things certain, Scott had them playing like their life depended on it, yet to see that from a DB outfit. The main point is, no other club is about to poach our coach, so why sign him up when another season with no improvement will have the supporter base, quite rightly out for blood. DB & MFC need wins
  13. im with Sheahan on this one, DB needs to show some results on gameday cos when it comes down to it, thats what footballs all about. We know we were rebuilding, and all the rest the last 2 years, but this year he needs to double the amount of wins from last year as a minimum, IMO. If we go another season with 4 wins, questions should be asked
  14. Hes been there all of 5 mins as well, and already has a very young group of guys playing the way he wants. North were fantastic yesterday, will provide plenty of hope for their supporters and reasons for them to put their hands in their pockets and purchase memberships.
  15. I see the bridge, and its under construction, when finished players will cross that bridge and be at the Gold Coast. Or, we can blow the bridge up today, tomorrow, next week by signing the players we simply cant afford to lose. We may not get everyone, but we should be doing our best to manipulate it so that if we do lose a required player, we get compensated, the whole point of this thread is that if the required player we lose is Jurrah... We get nothing
  16. Ill chill when hes signed Until then ill be very nervous, moreso with every good performance he puts in. Sticking to his 09 Averages at 22 games this yar, he will kick over 50 goals, thats assuming he doesnt improve one bit thanks to having a pre-season... We all know how important preparation is, see Sylvia last year compared to his previous years. If he steps it up, and doesnt get injured he could kick 70+ goals, he'd be a huge target, not Buddy level, but not far behind, now im not saying that i think LJ is itching to leave us or anything but ill be alot happier when hes signed. If Buddy goes the Hawks will get a top 5 pick compensation, if Jurrah goes we get next to nothing
  17. Liam Jurrah, The Warlpiri Wizard, the freak that burst onto the scene for us last year and excited us all with his naturual football ability must be signed up immediately. Make no mistake, this guy will get sounded out by the GC, his cousin has already signed with them, and his XFactor, Highlight show is exactly what the GC and AFL would want to showcase the game to a non caring football territory like the Gold Coast, probably only Nic Natanui/Buddy would be more sought after as a long term prospect for a start up club. Not since the OX pre knee injuries in 1994 has a player for Melbourne looked like being in the category beyond elite, and with the compensation formula from the AFL being based on where they were taken in the draft and player salary we would probably get something like a 5th rounder in compensation if they lured him up there. Richmond losing a Cotchin, WC a Natanui or even us a Watts would be devestating to the clubs but they would probably get a first round pick in a future draft to compensate, (see the article in todays HUN) with LJ that wont be the case as we uncovered him in the rookie draft and as a 2nd year player is probably on a base salary, we would get squat. There is no flexibility in this formula. So please, Cameron Schwab, Chris Connolly, sign this bloke up tomorrow, for 3-4 years cos once he plies his trade this year in the seniors after his first full pre-season he will be in the top 5 targets for the Coast and his cost will go higher by the week. For the sake of us all, Get to it!
  18. our membership figures have slowed down through january/february but we'll see an increase through march up until the family day where we historically sign a few, and usually several k on rnd1, and the club has yet to have an active membership drive either, even if our form is shithouse im still hoping we'll beat last years figures
  19. Hmm watch a crappy movie or the Football on a Sunday night. I know what ill be doing
  20. Batemans out as well, wont get the Hawks at a better time
  21. Sylvia has been a bit hit or miss prior to last year but i think he has turned the corner, and what sets him apart from some of our other midfield brigade is he is damaging, when Col gets 25+ possessions we can usually expect a few goals in there too, Goalkicking mids win footy matches, we need him firing and if hes consistent for 22rnds this year, he will be A-Grade, and collect quite a few brownlow votes.
  22. Hear what your saying 100%, but having Sachin Tendulker with the guernsey a few years back might of got a few indians on board, he is pretty much a God over there Anyway its worth doing just to pissoff Eddie & the Filth
