  1. ^^^^^ Exchange Rivers for Carroll! Carroll at FF - christ hed get goals just from starting fights up there! infact clear the entire forward 50. Except for Carroll and Wona.
  2. Speak for yourself, i love Chopper make him Captain. He doesnt have all the skills, but if every player on our list had his in your face in your head attitude we would win flag after flag after flag.
  3. Carroll and Rivers should be left alone i agree. But Miller??? a member of the leadership group that has been influential in about 3 of his last 40 games? and because he made 1 lead and it didnt get kicked to him he should get more games???? Oh no!! it got kicked to a forward in a contest?!?!??!?! IF HE CANT WIN CONTESTS HES USELESS. Miller can stay on the list if he turns himself into a presence player, hits people and they stay hit. Runs off the line and lines up the opposition midfield again and again and again.. Teams need enforcers, Millers a big boy and he needs to be hurting opponents, and pray he gets the ball when he makes those rare random good leads and doesnt have to take a contested mark. Paul Johnson is ahead of Miller as a key forward. <----------------------------------------------------------------------- Leadership group. Neitz - injured, ineffective McDonald - playing on reputation at the moment. Yze - Magoos. Miller - Should be Magoos. Bruce - Holding his spot but hes just a tagger really thesedays. White - no complaints Brock - dropped for doing a burnout in his car.... gawd. red&blue&true's leadership group after the first 6 rounds. Rivers Jones Brock White Green Whelan Carroll
  4. Carroll dont deserve to be dropped. no way. Bring in the young tall defenders, drop Miller & Robbo, put Carroll at FF. YEA BABY! Him sledging his defenders after every goal is worth showing up for
  5. Sylvia's worth keeping, he has everything needed to be a gun player, unfortanetly he knows it.. and isnt trying to step up to the top 2-3 at the club, which he is quite capable of doing. Jones has half his talent but 5x his heart.
  6. Sounds good, i hope they can kick goals too
  7. I love JMAC, but surely hes playing on reputation at the moment. Bruce won't go - got a feeling hes a Bailey favourite. Miller if he refuses to use his presence he should be delisted... he should be the kinda bloke running off the line at CHF lining somone up EVERY CENTRE BOUNCE... NOT JUST 1 AT THE GEELONG GAME. (we kicked the first 3 goals after that) No problems if he gets reported, in general play start him at FF and have him run through anyone that gets in his hole, Barry Hall has no more football skill then Brad Miller but was a top 5 player in the competition for awhile.
  8. If the bolded were spine players id feel more confident, our lack of a young KPP forward with a bright future and a couple of years of development under his belt will be our major weakness assuming we dont screw the pooch and actually do a rebuild properly. Im not sure having Robbo & Miller down forward is going to help us long term, throw Cale Morton at FF for the rest of the year, see if we can develop a player with gun skills and speed into someone that knows when to lead.. as his body develops might be the answer... but if we're asking a KPP picked up in 2008 to give us top 4 possibility in 2011, he'd need to be the next Buddy Franklin or Tom Hawkins, if we wait until 2009/2010 draft to finally secure a CHF/FF that can tear a game apart 2012-2013 at the earliest before we can challenge...
  9. Well its about time that changes. Match conditions at training this week, put the ones that are turning the football over under the gun from the hardest tacklers in the side (one side purely playing defensive pressure football) and let them learn under pressure, injuries at training matter as much as they do on the field now, the seasons a writeoff and they should be given the instruction to nail them if they arent fast enough or cough the ball up. Maybe Bailey will realise that even if he puts the best 6 ball users in the side against players simply zoning off waiting to hit us with this game plan we are screwed!
  10. 10k would be pathetic, but wouldnt surprise me - the fans have seen NOTHING from the team this year not preseason, not practice games, not regular season. And i for one am getting a little confused with what exactly Bailey is trying to execute, and what makes him so sure that even if he gets it right its a premiership game plan - fuckin over possessing the football HAS NEVER WORKED EVER EVER EVER EVER. It like Neil Balme is coaching us again. I guarantee you Harvey already has his team ready to zone off and smash us when we play that pissy precision football and arent up to it. Ill go, but id like to see Bailey throw his plan C or B out there for the first half and see how we go - the teams confidence is shot by the time Bailey has realised his plan isnt working it is very transparent to opposition coaches.
  11. Reminds me of the Balme days.... stupid overuse hold onto the ball disposal game... Bailey might last as long has he did.. Dean Bailey?? - whats wrong with backing our players to win contested possessions instead of ruining their confidence expecting them to have perfect hand and foot skills over 60 disposals for a goal!!
  12. Yes our only shining lights are a guy in his 35th game and a guy in his 4th
  13. Yeah, lets be the club that passed on this bloke
  14. Melbourne. WCE still have 3 out and out superstars in Kerr, Cox and Glass, and probably better under 21 talent as well. I got a feeling they have their eyes on this "superdraft" and a couple of WA boys namely Naitanui & Rich - dont be surprised if Kerr is traded and they try and load up on first round picks. They lack quality KPP and leadership at the moment but their list is a lot better then ours.
  15. mm yes, i will enjoy every 200 pt crushing they receive after they get to 5 wins <_<, then they can have a winless season next year, while we struggle out 4 will see us with picks 1, 8, and them with a first pick of 7, Gibbs leaving for nothing in the PSD to Adelaide and Judd sueing them for promised under-handed money after the collapse of the Visy and Pratt is broke
  16. Has he ever. Promote the lad!, He deserves to have a crack at the big time, the spots available, the years pretty much a washout, we need to get some senior AFL into this guy and see if he can take the next step
  17. Agree, if Naitanui truley has that super engine and toughness and can play in the ruck, imagine our onball unit with other tough nuts Jones, Mclean, Sylvia even Moloney at his feet. if you didnt see Sandilands play last night, and doubt the influence a ruckman that can win a contested football and physically intimidate the opposition you've got rocks in your head. He sounds like Byron picket but taller, faster can jump like no1 b4 him and with an incredible engine Hes still growing and only just learning the game but still dominating... thats whats scarey!
  18. Im sure Essendon would love Aaron, but im pretty sure if they get pick 2 it will be untouchable, or trade bait for a Kerr type superstar. Aaron + 17 isnt worth pick 2 - hed need to have 14 BOG's to finish the season and take Charlie home for him to get that status, and if that happened would we want to lose him? <_<
  19. Seriously they did an entire add about james hird doing a girly hand dance with a fan after kicking a goal...
  20. worst hit will be fremantle and sydney i would think, maybe adelaide, though they all have massive cash to develop the players they get another area we lack in - if we make the hard decisions at the end of this year and also pick up the priority in front of GC in 2010 possibly trade for Pettard, could have 3 top 10 picks in 2010, along with whatever we get this year if we offload Bruce and Green which are probably our only players with value. We could be ok, come 2011-2012 but we need to get lucky and hope we dont get duds in the draft and our new facilities will finally be in place then, thats the earliest i see us looking really threatening, no superstar KPP or matchwinner/gamebreaker really hurts us, we need minimum 3 probably to really contend. Hopefully Nanatui, Morton, Grimes, all become superstars McLean can be Hodge like, Jones is gold, Sylvia... i still have hope, Bate, Dunn, Frawley, Maric we still have some great young prospects - but we need to get someone reliable (hopefully superstar) at FB FF and Ruck. Its hurt coming to this realisation, i had convinced myself last year was injurys, and we still had a shot if we could put it together, but we are a long long way off if u line our list up vs Geelongs or Hawthorns
  21. Ok. I like the adds. But theres a problem - theres an ommission, why are they not reliving any MFC memorable moments on the football field??? There is a man out there that provided more of those memorable moments then possibly any other in living history. He must be found. You know who i speak of. I call for Sir Allen Jakovich to be the next recipitent of the Toyota memorable moments commercials. Find Him! From his loving brotherly kiss on Glenn after kicking his 6th on the MCG in a Melbourne rout, to his antics of kicking opponents water bottles, (and hobbling off injured) as well as incredible as an incredible scissor kick for the greatest goal ever kicked by a footballer and all the other breathtaking moments this great man produced that are escaping me right now. Find JAKOOOOOOOOOOOVICCCHK. Get to it Toyota.
  22. Thats great to hear, but i dont have high hopes for next year either - and he would have to be very special to truley be untouchable if the right offer came along.. Gold Coast will have currency in draft picks - if we can get over value for him we should take it. Im praying they take the Freo model and trade their picks so they dont get trashed each week, Freo have lost somuch value with their recycling players and general drafting/trading policys, hopefully these new clubs do the same. Also Reiwoldt has said similar things, but the money they will have to throw at specific players will be a big drawing factor, id be surprised if GC did not get Riewoldt.
  23. Agree, we need to take some risks with our high picks on big blokes, future superstars.. very rarely is a midfielder a superstar, voss was, hird and buckley ..... great players but true superstars?, judds on track to be one, and possibly ablett jnr, but comparing them to a KPP like Brown, Pavlich, Buddy, Carey in terms of influence on a game is chalk and cheese imho. Geelong have one of the most talented selfless teams ive seen in a long time, but on his day Buddy could just burn them off his own boot, hes that special, we need to take the risk to get the next great thing that can break a game in 20mins over another midfielder, our midfield i think is ok with Grimes, Morton, Jones, Mclean and hopefully Sylvia in 3-4 years.. what we lack is the freak that oppositions just cannot stop, that could be Nanatui! (they say hes only been playin football a year and hes already considered the best ever seen by some recruiters??) thats enuff to get me excited. We pretty much need to go for 2-3 high quality KPP's minimum, our forward line nor defence really looks promising at all. Rivers i rate, and i hope Frawley develops, Carroll should stay while we look, but we need a gun FB badly. Argh.. and our forward line - Miller? can he play FF...? hes not effective enuff anywhere we play him, Newton i like but seems a bit slow to dominate the forward 50... Yze, Neitz, Hollard retire this year - JMAC should captain next year, White and Robbo's final year - move on Green and Bruce for picks this trading cycle, and we should have pretty much an entire list under 25 in 2010 that hopefully we can develop to get the big one. (hopefully this is when Brock steps up and assumes captaincy for the next 6-7 years) Probably pick up 4 wins next year, get a priority (which should trump even the GC picks), another low pick around 6 i guess after they grab their first 5, then in 2010 we will look dangerous (maybe finals) and hopefully 2011-2015 we can have a real crack at it with a core group of top talent thats been together 6-7 years. The club needs to be transparent in its approach though, Green & Bruce unfortunetly won't ever play in a premiership for MFC, we are too far away, we can do good deals for them, they have served the club well but we are headed in for a few bad years either way and our club cant afford it. if we come out and say we are doing a necessary cleaning of house in order to tilt for a flag our supporters will stay on board i hope, If we go half-hearted and try and pick up 6-7 wins or even scrape into finals but never being a real challenger like the last 7 years we are gone. I can take the pain if theres a solid plan to put as much chance into developing the next super list - A premiership isnt even neccessary to save the club though it would bloody well help - look at St Kilda fans the way they jumped on the bandwagon with their big expectations when they looked Dynasty set back in 2004.. The perception at Melbourne (not since the late 80's early 90's) has been that we were never really rated a genuine chance each year, we were surprise packets in 98 and 00, but because we had aging & retiring/moving players and never backed those years up we always never looked really dangerous or serious about taking home a cup, only through GOOD LIST MANAGEMENT can this change. 2010 will be exciting, 2011 and beyond if we make the hard choices this year will be real hope for the MFC. i beleive. I hope Connelly and Bailey take the long term view and most of all i hope a stable innovative administration keeps us alive through the rebuilding. Go Melbourne!
  24. We should be smart and sign pettard up post gold coast entry so we have room to manevour when they want a home grown up and comer (which he will be by that stage) to come home to their new franchise souless club. if we play hardball and they get all the picks thats been promised we may get a top 5 pick. Im pretty much resigned to losing him either way unless he really really wants to stay, but even so it may be in the clubs long term interests to play to the gold coast desire to have home grown players if we can screw them over deal wise.
  25. what a joke. AFL funded clubs and gift wrapt premierships turns me off football all together, the real clubs worked hard over 100s of years to build the game and these new franchises are getting million dollar marketing guys paid from the dollars that the foundation clubs built, and pretty much iron clad guarantee of AFL monetary assistance for infinity until they become viable, and what will we get? probably money thrown at us to merge away our history..., sick  this expansion [censored] is going to ruin our game, who gives a stuff about gold coast and western sydney, if they wanna watch thugby good luck to them  The AFL will be no better then the WWE with this gift wrapt premierships for markets that couldnt give a [censored] about football in order to get market share and more $$$$ i bet they get cap concessions and the AFL will pimp offf the strugglying victorian clubs to give em extra home games up on the GC improving their draw. Then ya have a real historical football state, with a government that actually wants to be part of the competition that doesnt even get a look in. AFL couldnt give a stuff that its supposed to be sport, its all about the $$$$...
