  1. We can't trade Petty without securing a key forward replacement to replace him from Round 1 2024. We're in the premiership window and we need to win games now. That is more important than selling Petty high. And the deal offered by Crows does not come close to selling Petty high.
  2. Its only a good idea if its a salary cap dump accompanied by their first draft pick from Tigers. That is fairly obvious. GWS may not be interested and it may indeed be La La Land stuff in that regard. But if it is available then Haynes actual playing ability is irrelevant. We'd be buying Pick 6 with the 2024 contract value we absorb and the list spot.
  3. After GC x 3 academy picks 6 might become 7 and 11 might become 13 or 14. not sure 7 + 14 + Dees 24 1st swing its. There must be a cunning plan though. Await further developments.
  4. We must have a cunning plan!
  5. So in 24 we're in the window and rely on Benny Brown and Tommy Mac to support JVR in anticipation of getting a free agent in 24 FA/Trade for 25 season? No thankyou very much.
  6. Which one. Could only trade Petty if we have a trade deal agreed for a quality key forward. By key forward I mean a player who can at least halve long balls in like Petty can by taking pack marks or bringing the ball to his feet. Petty is also smart on the lead and an accurate kick which is strangely under rated. So who could we unlock? Otherwise hold Petty for 24 and 25 as a key player in push for 14 and see where he is at end of 25 re going home.
  7. but Dees have already said he is a required player and we'll hold him to final year of contract...
  8. Chol offers a unique skillset: crumbing forward/second ruck!
  9. Or he is experienced key position depth when our other young key defenders are young and inexperienced.
  10. I think the answer was, "Move Hudson to Centre Half forward" though at the old Glenferrie Oval Full Forward is not that far from Centre Half Forward.
  11. Classic in window trade in. 2024 is 29yo season. Quick medium forward who can take a grab and lay a tackle. Fills a definite need on our list.
  12. BBB getting his body right is a rather large 'if' given his chronic knee issue. Likely to retire for mine maybe with some payout for final year.
  13. Crows lack genuine centre square mids. Rachele out. And its a must win game for us!
  14. We can't really complain about priority picks can we?
  15. Salary Cap management will likely see Jordan & Harmes depart and Dees believing we can get same production from a younger lower cost player ie Woey or a Howes or a Laurie etc.
  16. Go Pies. Go Blues. Go Suns. Go Hawks. Go Tiges. Lets hope Swannies appeal the Dane Rampe suspension and he plays next week! #DeathridingFreo is hard work!
  17. Its a great place to watch the footy. Particularly if you're on the grandstand side and watching the footy with the sun setting on the West Macs in the background. Admittedly the times I've gone its been sunny!
  18. Can't see Dees being in contention for a trade for Nm 1 pick. Just have have the top 5/top 10 picks.
  19. If it was not one of their all time greats what contract would Freo offer a 32 year old who struggles to get his body right to be available to play and then when he is available and plays struggles to have an impact?
  20. Hunter is a specialist winger. JJ is a utility.
  21. Good overhead, quick, go ahead ball carrier, nice sidestep which buys him space and time, and generally composed ball use. Just what we've been waiting for in our back 6 mix. A best 22 lock. May need a rest at some point. Great rookie pick by Jason Taylor and co.
  22. Eagles should win the derby. Winless after 3 games. Wowee. I feel sorry for Jackson. He is not playing well and the pressure and angst will build.
  23. Freo needed to explain to Jackson and his family that it would be better both for their list build and his chances of joining a team in contention if he stayed at Melbourne for a few more years. And it would be better for his development to stay at the Dees and further develop his still raw ruck and key position talent rather than move west now at a high draft and salary cap cost where he would inevitably be under much more pressure when he is nowhere near the finished product that can perform to that cost. Maybe its the player manager role to raise that rather than Freo. Then if he still says he wants to join Freo its an interesting business decision they face.
  24. the opening rounds of the home and away season are effectively praccy matches now given the reduction in actual praccy matches.
