  1. Well, they did have a hard act to follow after Mr. Loaf's tour de force last year!
  2. With free agency starting on Monday wouldn't it be great if the game was a draw? Imagine Rivers fronting up for Hawthorn and Beamer for Sydney in the replay?
  3. Right. As soon as Buddy took the mark, you knew it was going to be a goal.
  4. Hawthorn appears to be in tatters at the moment. The Sydney defensive pressure has been outstanding since ¼ time. Can the Hawks get back into this?
  5. Hawks look to be in trouble at half time.
  6. Maybe we should play Cale up forward too?
  7. I thought they always went for the same footy?
  8. It's still 2012. A bad finish for a bad year but as has been typical for 2012, we didn't really have our fastest sprinters available. Lynden Dunn is never going to worry Usain Bolt with or without the mo.
  9. Thanks, so we are talking about Troy Davis who I do like as a potential tall defender but some have discounted because his disposal has been a bit "iffy" under pressure. I'd keep him for at least another year. He may still come to something. We also have Jai Sheahan, a rookie, who I think has a tremendous future.
  10. I'm a bit confused here. Who's Davis and what VFL Grand Final are we talking about?
  11. Don't mind the Hawks. They've been the best side all year and have the most brilliant players. Let's just get it over with and move on to the next phase which involves us in a major restoration of our playing list.
  12. I don't think it's going to go down too well at Carlton either. Malthouse won't lightly suffer fools and Brock is currently sitting in the village idiot's chair.
  13. The Indian bowling in the second one is no better but let's lap it up. Watson and Warner unbeaten century opening stand in 10 overs ... extraordinary! And Pat Cummins is going to become some fast bowler one day soon.
  14. My guess is that it was that bloke's first attempt at the high hurdles.
  15. Something to amuse ourselves with over trade and draft month:
  16. MFC not amused has tweeted a response:-
  17. No offence taken bub but there are plenty who don't appreciate the obvious preferring to blame a 21 year old kid for their frustrations about the team's overall performance.
  18. I have a lot of time for the opinions of Colin Wisbey from the Collingwood supporters Bulletin Board and this is what he says about Jack Watts:- He makes two interesting points:- 1. We still need to give Watts more time and 2. The MFC's development of its young players has been nothing short of appalling. I agree with both points and hope that the football department under Neeld/Craig/Misson manage to get things in order from hereon in. I'm hopeful and I certainly wouldn't be bagging our young players at this stage. I want to see how they get through the coming pre season which the FD promises to be the one that drills them up to close to the same levels that the leading clubs reach every pre season and not the far inferior levels comparatively of the fitness, conditioning and skills work we are told have applied for the past decade.
  19. What the media getting their facts wrong? No way!
  20. Interesting that in September 2010 Salopek signed a three year deal with Port Adelaide for $1m:- "PORT Adelaide midfielder Steven Salopek has committed to the club for a further three years under a deal worth almost $1 million." Means that unless that deal's cancelled, he owes Port another year and they owe him $333,333.33. Interesting.
  21. AFL Draft Combine: 13 Rebels to be screened Despite being unceremoniously dumped from the TAC Cup finals by eventual winners Oakleigh Dragons in the preliminary final, the North Ballarat Rebels boast the most AFL Draft Combine invitees in Australia this year. The area has been a good recruiting area for the Demons in the recent past and with the inclusion of the VFL team's Dean Towers, the area should attract strong numbers at the Draft tables:- NATIONAL COMBINE Tanner Smith (Kalkee) Michael Close (Harrow-Balmoral) Loius Herbert (South Warrnambool) Martin Gleeson (Koroit) Matt Crouch (Beaufort) Jake Neade (Elliott, Northern Territory) Dom Barry (Alice Springs, Northern Territory) STATE COMBINE Tyler Blake (Horsham Demons) Jake Lloyd (Horsham Demons) Nick Rippon (East Ballarat) Kyle Hendy (Stawell Warriors) Tony Lockyer (Sebastopol) Dean Robinson (Redan) Dean Towers, North Ballarat Roosters (Colac)
  22. I'd be interested to know the story regarding his injuries. Butcher was once aligned with Tom Whatsisname as likely to go 1/2 in the 2009 National Draft but he drifted out late in the year due to problems with his form and with injuries. He then took until late 2011 to make his debut and caught everybody off guard with a couple of bags of goals. However, he seems to have gone completely off the radar with only 8 games and 11 goals this year. The other thing is that I notice Port Adelaide also rookied his younger brother Danny from Gippsland Power (0 games) so I'm not sure about the homesickness story. Obviously, the worry would be that we would be getting an injury prone player whose future is uncertain. I suppose that might possibly make a swap for Jurrah a reasonable proposition. The other worry coming from this source is that the Pennski file on Seinfield wasn't particularly the place to which one could go for reliable information.
  23. Thanks for bringing this up rpfc. Two sheds was certainly a valuable contributor to the site and his words about Nathan Jones so prophetic. I also didn't realise what an idiot occo was. A few weeks after he posted that garbage about Jones, occo was banned from the site for 12 months for a totally unrelated indiscretion. I thought at the time that 12 months was a tough stretch but as I recall, no remorse was shown at the time. Now, 3½ years on, I think it was the right decision. In any event, this thread highlights the good, the bad and the ugly of the Internet and two sheds Jackson was definitely a good one.
  24. OK. The rumour posts that were hidden (and some of them are absolute stinkers) have been restored and some posts have been removed because they really don't add to this thread. Posters are asked to remember that this thread is dedicated to former poster Chilliboy who really knew how to publish a quality rumour. Please aspire to that level when posting in future people. If anyone needs a benchmark, dazzledavey36 is the clear clubhouse leader at this stage (but that doesn't mean you have to believe any of it )
  25. Little known and seldom played, Luke Rounds appears to be the first victim of the fall out - Magpie 'open to trade'
