  1. Apologies to QD but the consensus is that Swan Street is more appropriate to Richmond (interchangeable with Punt Road). But Lulie Street is Collingwood!
  2. Well, they did it. Now for the post match
  3. Yes, they would be photos of the final scoreboard in each of the last 4 games that VDB has played in - all Melbourne wins - by an average of 42 points.
  4. Wrong. They have a historical connection - that’s their birthplace and their original home. The MCG is ours and we should never let them forget it (even when we play them on foreign soil).
  5. Great sides usually find ways to win the close ones ... Round 17, 1964 Hawthorn vs Melbourne Saturday 15 August Venue: Glenferrie Oval Attendance: 20,000 B Crompton Massey Leahy HB Anderson Williams Davis C Dixon H Mann Adams HF Vagg P McLean Kenneally F Jacobs Bourke Emselle Foll Wise Barassi Rov Townsend 19/20 Bartlett Watson Aside from the finals, this game was Melbourne’s most important win for the season. The four point victory over Hawthorn effectively ended the Hawks’ season while it consolidated a semi final appearance for the Demons who became the only opposition team to win at the muddy Glenferrie Oval which had been waterlogged earlier in the week after constant heavy rains. The game was close up till just after the half time break when the Hawks broke away to take a 16 point lead at three-quarter time but the Demons were a disciplined outfit that would never give in against adversity even as a number of players went down with injury. Veteran wingman Brian Dixon who had been quiet early changed wings at the break and changed the tide with 11 final quarter kicks. The game was in the balance until late in the final term when Hassa Mann goalled with a miracle kick from an acute angle on the boundary line to put the Demons in front. 6. Not for the first time in recent seasons have the Demons gone into a game against the Magpies with their hopes for the season on the line. It happened late in 2017 and Melbourne was left lamenting. If the club want to prove it stands for something then it must win games like today with fierce attack on the ball and pressure at the contest from the start.
  7. Agreed. It should be What they’re saying at Lulie Street (which abuts the traditional home at Victoria Park).
  8. An interesting early umpiring decision. Played me with ball tacked, 360 degrees and penalised holding the ball. Happened a few times last week - play on.
  9. Burgo said on the MFC site that there’s a scratch match against Collingwood (both clubs are in the Maroochydore hub) for the reserves players which would provide some insIght into who will play in the main game. If there are any track watchers up on the Sunshine Coast, this is your opportunity to be the first with the news.
  10. Cometh the hour ...

  13. Off Twitter - After six players departed the club in the AFL Women's Sign and Trade Period, Melbourne has re-signed a whopping 23 players! That includes Niamh McEvoy and Sinead Goldrick, who'll both join after the Dublin Gaelic season.
  14. So 12 Demons plus a Kangaroo joined forces to take on St Kilda plus 2 Kangaroos in a 12 v 12 match. Highlights - • Braydon Preuss in his first game back (explains why he wasn't really an option for Saturday's game) dominated around the hit-outs. • Mitch Brown scored five of his side’s nine goals. • The delivery inside 50 allowed Brown to do his best work. • Jayden Hunt was excellent – presented at the ball really well. • Joel Smith was probably the other standout down back in the wet conditions. • There's also an update on some of Melbourne’s other young prospects in 2020.
  15. They are playing footy in Tassie where a few draft prospects are showing their wares. Scouting notes and weekly wrap: TSL – Round 5
  16. Looks like the answer is yes.
  17. Whispering_Jack posted a post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Zac Williams is the type of player who would add to the mix at Melbourne. The cost might be high but is he a worthwhile target for the club’s recruiters? Clubs circle Giants star, despite five-year offer
  18. I would now like this form translated into a game against a top 8 team rather than a bottom 2 or 3 team.
  19. Picks 13 and 15 respectively in the 2004 AFL Draft
  20. Closing in on 200 AFL games. I hope he gets there.
  21. Recruiters are going to be busy. When the 2020 trade period starts post-Grand Final
  22. But then there’s a score review. Touched. Decision on the scoreboard. Behind. Dees get up by 1 point.
  23. Late in the season, we were ravaged by injuries and we kicked poorly. The end result - a 17 point defeat. Can we improve on that this week? 24. Wouldn’t it be great if he came of age with his first big bag against his grandfather’s old team with Eddie in the commentary box or the studio reminding us for the nth time about the family history?
  25. I suspect that there’s going to be a fair amount of trading going on when the trade period actually happens. With so many unknowns about this year’s draft selections on top of the large number of academy picks, it might well up as a free for all. The quality of each club’s drafters could well be determined by this draft. In the meantime, picking up Kossie wasn’t a bad outcome for us at last year’s draft table.
