Umm, most years you could do this depressing exercise and end up with nearly every defending Premier winning the next flag too. Predicting us to win this years flag is way too optimistic. But I really don't like your methodology to predict ladder positions this year

Yep! So many mistakes! I bet the predictions at the moment will be the same kind of wrong come the seasons end. I love the people trying to predict the whole bloody ladder. There are (18 x 17 x 16 x 15 .... ) possible permutations which is more than 6,000,000,000,000,000!!! Also often there's so much recency bias

So true. I quoted/replied to someone's post with one line. It was totally innocent but it was totally held back to be reviewed by the moderators. It turns out that there was one word in the other person's post that caused this.... D*UGS

So often people just speak and they sound confident but really their opinion doesn't really mean that much. But the confidence? They sound so convincing! I'm not going to make out that I'm always defying this - certainly many people can be guilty of this too. I really don't know what to make of any of this Bomberblitz commentary - it all sounds right ish. But who knows? At times it feels like we're talking about unicorns on another planet in another galaxy. Are they green? are they pink ? Do they smoke? what do they eat ? We can all theorize all we like but there may not even be any unicorns in the first place anyway. 😂 While it's still weeks away eventually all the jigsaw pieces will fall into place and we'll actually know whether (and who) we've been right or wrong. Guess it's just the way it is; in other words it's yet another preseason.

I hope I didn't sound ungrateful. This is a free website and it's kind of nice to have these quizzes over summer time as a diversion. I'm sure people put a fair bit of work into these - compiling them. So thank you. If I hated them so much I wouldn't even click on them.

I'm never quite sure what to make of intraclub stuff. Sure , unexpected fumbles are bad and goals from the boundary line are good. But sometimes a player looks bad because an intraclub opponent did something brilliant or conversely an opponent didn't chase hard enough or apply enough pressure making a Casey player look like either Gary Ablett. I'm looking forward to this season and to see how Latrelle, Culley and others who have been talked up actually go. But same as there's food p*rn this possibly is practice match p*rn.

Can you provide actual posts where posters said these players would be even close to great? Maybe some have said similar about Langford (and possibly Tracc and Clarry and all the way back to maybe Watts and Scully). But i think you're totally exaggerating what posters have said.

It wouldn't surprise me if he establishes himself as a useful part of our best 22. But are we overhyping him? Hopefully he'll just be getting on with business regardless. And hopefully even if he does have a few quiet games fans don't feel let down based on their (not the club's) (over-) expectations.

Don't forget that every player, and staff member, is an individual. For all we know there were too many personality clashes and too many unforgivable incidents that meant Tracc and Clarry would never slot in ever again at the Dees. That also means that potentially that all three of Melbourne, Petracca and Oliver - ALL now unburdened - have great seasons ..... that NONE would have had even if Goody stayed or King turns out to be the best coach ever.

Google agrees with you re 20m runs. Obviously someone who just about spends a whole game within 65m of their goal will need different speed vs stamina results than someone like Langdon. But happy to believe King swearing gleefully as Ghosty said is a promising sign. BTW does anyone remember Billy Hartung? He holds the beep test record. But even then he was drafted #24 and lasted about 6 years in the AFL. Obviously the beep test is just one indicator of ability.
