GAMEDAY: Grand Final vs Western Bulldogs

Few worries. Daniel and Bont for Dogs. Kozzie, TMac and May for us. I feel a big surge coming this quarter. This will sort the men from pretenders. -
GAMEDAY: Grand Final vs Western Bulldogs
dee-tox replied to At Least I Saw a Flag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have a feeling this thread will be Demonland's greatest, destined for future posterity! Read by future generations inquisitive how a random, motley group of supporters rode the bumps on the way to the 2021 flag! Best not make a spelling error or say anything controversial... Anyway, enjoy fellow 'landers. This year has been one hell of a ride. Pun intended. We've been nervous but ultimately calm brought upon by the fact that this team is bloody good! Four quarters of good, uncompromising football will do it. Talk to you in the post match thread! C'mon you Mighty Demons! -
Jeebus! Ask me if we win it!

McCrae won't really hurt you himself. He is not as dynamic as Bont, Oliver and Petracca. But if Libba gets first use the Dogs can play their linking handball game which brings in Bont, McCrae, Hunter, Treloar, Daniel, Dale, etc That is where they can win and nullify our strengths. It's as simple as they have it, we have it or it's in dispute.

Yeah good call.
-
Agree. I'd have Hunt as the sub. Can cover forward and back. The only issue is if one of our midfielders goes down who will replace him? ANB, Angus/Rivers, Kozzie?
-
Seeing his best mate win a Brownlow might be the extra motivation he needs to win a Normie.
-
I do not like Stevic or Nicholls. Shame Razor won't be there. Loves the Dees and specially Angus. If whoever gets let's it go like they did in the prelim that'll do me. Could not bear a game decided by contentious decisions.

4. The Red Fox himself, Norm Smith. 12. Jack Mueller and Todd Viney. 14. Ivor Warne Smith and Rod Grinter. 3. Gérard Healy and Garry Lyon

Cerra, cherry baby whoa, whoa!

Jackson was a basketballer who started AFL seriously as a 16 year old. Mac started Aussie Rules at Wantirna South as a seven/eight year old and then moved to Berwick juniors a few years after. That's 10 or 11 years of junior footy. Many of us that saw him play at Berwick would never say he lacked football nous. Skinny and easily pushed aside, sure, but that's not 'football nous'. The representative games he played were spectacular. He's played much, much more football than Jackson which is the original point I was making.
-
He's played much more Aussie Rules than Luke Jackson at the same age... So why wouldn't he have football nous? Bizarre take. This is not a guy plucked from obscurity. Have a look at the available footage and you'll see not only his huge athletic potential but also his footy IQ.
-
Unlike Jackson who was able to play straight away, Mac you'd reckon will take at least two or three seasons to have an AFL ready body. Makes you wonder with the short-term pressure and general impatience AFL clubs have to perform, whether they are willing to wait the time needed for a return on investment. That run, leap and general athleticism is so tantalising I hope clubs take the short-term view.

Interesting development. Not sure I like any such announcements during our grand final fortnight but maybe it is his manager getting his name out there early and not the club. In 2018 he was close to our most important player. Able to tag the opposition's best defender and kick a few on the counter. Always felt confident with ball in hand. Not sure he'll get the extra year or two he is looking for. That ankle surgery really slowed him down. Would be well suited playing at a small ground like the SCG, but doubt the Swans have room for him.
-
Salem for me. With that said the Dogs seem not to tag in the midfield so Oliver, Petracca Gawn and Viney have to be a chance if we win.
-
Ollie Wines for me, Bont second. Clarrie will fly home in the last eight rounds but early on Tracc, Gawn, TMac, Lever, Salem and Langdon will have their fair share of votes.
-
Can't recall the outcome now but remember the debate two or three years ago. Google tells me Gill backed down at the 11th hour.
-
Didn't the AFL introduce a red card for grand finals to prevent Gaff-like hits? Knowing our luck Stevic will be one of the umpires and keen to put himself in the limelight by issuing the first ever red card! 😀

So this is how I see it. Journo's get 95 percent of their stories from player managers. Ralph gets told there are two possible scenarios: Melbourne or Carlton. Ralph approaches Alan Richardson who confirms we are interested in Cerra but will have nothing further to say until the business of finals is over. Ralph feeling pressure from his editors knows he needs to put stories out there because Cerra is the biggest name so far in the upcoming trade period. With no information coming from Melbourne, Ralph can only speculate and because he is not able to think laterally and wants to reinforce the ridiculous perception that he is a news breaker. He settles for the most obvious position: Melbourne are out of the race because they don't have a first round pick. The fact that Melbourne have shown interest means they have something in mind when it comes to picks. It could be a player/s (Weed, etc) or it could be a future picks as Demoniac mentioned in an earlier post.

Played a half down back against Norf too.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
dee-tox replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
If there is an award for most improved reckon Harry gets it. Improves with every game. He really now is a huge presence. Strong in the air, composed with the ball. Looks like a 100 gamer! -
Any of ANB, Spargo or Fritta will be asked to this. Most likely ANB.
-
Facing the Dogs wasn't the preferred scenario. They are a very well coached team with an exceptional midfield. Compared to Port it is was chalk and cheese. Compared to us it will be much, much closer. Beveridge has this us against the world thing going and it is a frickin powerful force. I honestly think we can do it. But Mark my words it will be close. Those that think otherwise are naive and perhaps stupid.
-
This is surreal. Petty's game was incredible. Tommy Sparrow has come from the clouds! Spargo, ANB and Kozzie ran them ragged. Brayshaw courageous. BBB four brilliant contested marks. Tag Clarry and Petracca and Viney get you. That 60 metre goal on the run from Gawn! Salem 720 metres gained! Decent commentary, especially Jason Bennett. Excellent umpiring.
