Simon Goodwin Sacked
I think this is 100% the case. It does say a lot though at the relationship. He had every right to walk as he probably disagrees with the decision and sticking around would be extremely awkward.

As much as I called for this, I take no pleasure in it. Thanks Simon for 2021 and brig a leader for nearly decade. All the best.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Funny thing is his First Crack Colleague in Kingy has been calling out for Goodwin to try the young brigade through the middle. You cannot make this [censored] up. They call for the youngsters to be battle-hardened with my CBA and then when its implemented, rather than applauding the bold move, lets now highlight the fact that Trac is no longer in there and he could be traded. Now i have my personal opinion's on Trac's trade but in direct reference to the First Crack, this is becoming meat and potatoes journalism. To the heart of the trade scenario. Hawks were preparing to go after Reid with a treasure trove of picks. It is appearing more unlikely to happen now and with Day's foot issues, they are in dire need of a another prime midfielder. I do think Trac to Hawks actually makes sense. Previously i called for their first pick (tied to Carlton) - but given Day's injury and Reid likely to stay, it puts Hawthorn in a rather precarious situation. I think we play hard ball and try to extract 2 first rounders. We just have to be proactive, to regenerate this list. If we can get Lever to North / Doggies and Trac to Hawks and get ourselves 2-3 additional picks in the top 10-20 over the next 2 years. We will be very well placed to challenge towards the end of this decade.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Windsors attack on the ball off half back was so gratifying. It is so what we lack. Why has this not been allowed more this year? I get the opponent was sub AFL, but if he could bring this more regurlarly in the coming years he’ll give us something we are so lacking in. It sure why Healy is calling him as a walk up inside midfielder. nevertheless it’s been a typical case of second year blues for him so I hope he goes away and comes back super fit and super strong for next year.

Would his kicking be any better? How many players does he burn inside 50

Can we officially say the Dan Houston trade is a flop yet?

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
You take what win you can get but WCE are as bad as they come. If we can win 1-2 out of the last 3 games I’d be stoked.

Like Tom Dyson or was it Don Tyson can never remember.

NON-MFC: Round 21
Different type of player. Trac and Oliver were inside mods. If the game had not become so offensive in nature, they would have excelled. The modern game suits Bont to a tee. I’d say Callaghan is placed to be the next best player in the comp. FWIW I don’t rate Daicos in the same class as those two.

Sam Darcy should have the nick name cheat code.

The Brody Mihocek Thread
Would be a good get, but suspect it would take more than a 2 year deal. I’d go for a 2+1 or 2+1+1 where to get the extensions there must be minimum games played and goals kicked. Say 30 games after 2 years gets the +1 and then another 15 gets the the fourth year. I’d be asking for 30-40 goals per year as well. That way if he can satisfy the expectations he’ll get 4 years otherwise we have the discretion to terminate his contract t. We could offer him good money. 600-800k per year.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
He has lost interest and confidence in a big way. May the later feeds the former. Whether that’s in footy, the club, the playing group who knows. But he is playing with less intensity than he has in the past. He definitely needs a reset and the zero interest is a furphy to lessen his value even more. We may end up having to cough up picks for a club to take his full contract value. That is the game Geelong is playing - that I have no doubt. If Clarry really wants to leave, then he will need to take a hair cut. I’m not giving another club picks to take him purely out of principle.

Trade Targets
Who knows… but if there are offers for him in the first round you have to take it. His form has been terrible and he is injury prone. It just has the hall marks of Gus, Petty and Oliver offers a few years back. If we don’t take it we will look back in 12 months and say, if only. We simply must. There hasn’t been a single trade scenario where the decision to hold players has worked in our favour. Not one. This is another reason why the Footy dept needs to be scrapped.

The best thing… Lever worth a 1st round pick. Much higher than I would have thought but happy be to proven wrong , if he decides to leave.

No thanks. He is one concussion away from retirement.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Its actually a fair point. If they want to go, we should say we want x,y,z in terms of return value and then the club they nominate has to meet that criteria...if that means they need to take a hair cut in their salary then so be it. Unfortunately we know it doesn't work that way and arguably we have seen the effect of keeping players against their will.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
To me its full salary for a 2nd rounder. Or pay part salary and Geelongs first this year. I just cant see it being any more than that. Id seriously do it now for a 2nd rounder, which we could use to go after GC Suns Pick 8 or 11. Give we are carrying (or will be) Gus's salary for the next few years, id hate to stack on more of that. What would annoy me tremendously is if Oliver went back to his old for after the trade - hard to see it, but its always a possibiliy. Maybe we make the trade contingent on a 2nd pick that is tied to Oliver BnF finish in his first year.

Trade Targets
Clarry would be too hard but maybe a 2nd rounder to package and goto GC for 8. I’d prefer we keep Viney. For all his faults the guy has unquestionable commitment and standards. We need him four our youth brigade. Lever for pick 21 Clarry for pick 33 21,33,24 ( our pick) for GC’s pick 8. 7 and 8 this year - probably end up in the teens. If Trac stays, then having 8 will still be a positive outcome.

Trade Targets
Who have you been watching for the last 3 years? Post ‘22 Lever has been nothing near his best. Once teams worked out that you just need put a player on him to keep him engaged, his intercept game has been almost non existent. Im doubtful we’d get Duursma, but who knows. North meed more senior players and leaders not draft picks. We need youth or draft picks. It’s the perfect deal.

Trade Targets
We are not contending in the next 3-4 years so what does it matter? 2026 will have May around at least. Perhaps JVR or Jeffo can be repurposed for the back half. Then there is Jed Adam’s that could get some game time. Lever like the rest of our senior players has been out of form for 2 years to the extent where ‘out of form’ is actually a compliment. If we could get Duursma or a first rounder it would be a steal. Alternatively getting a second rounder can help us trade into the first round by working with the northern academy clubs - Gold Coast in particular have 8 and 11. North have 20,21. Packaging our 2nd and North’s 2nd (#20) may help us get pick 11- we would need more picks to go after pick 8 as we fall short in points required for the exchange. Although we could ask North for 21 and 38 (3rd) which would get about 1600 points. This gives GC 3 picks and a total excess of about 200 points. It would be a good deal for all involved. If we could move Trac to Hawthorn for their current pick 7, we could potentially goto West Coast for a deal on Their pick 1 or a long shot for Harley Reid or otherwise take them both to the draft.

Trade Targets
That’d be a good outcome. I suspect they would want a sweetener though.

Trade Targets
I think it’s just match fitness. I’d put him in ice u til next year. Some players take time and some don’t ever get back to what they were before the ACL. Kiddy was a similar player to NAS and the Lions will never let him go. He’ll be back in action 2026 no doubt.

Trade Targets
I don't mean to be rude of facetious, but why would we target players that are failing to make an appearance at AFL level? The probability of them excelling and displacing someone in our bottom 6 is incredibly small let alone having a chance to improve our best 22. The money it would take to dislodge them would be a waste. Now if its to improve our VFL side, well then thats another matter, but i fail to see the point of targeting the top echelon of VFL players. Again not to be rude and others have also called out similar ideas, but these types of trades will do nothing. They are akin to the Schache, Culley, Henderson, Sharp, Fullarton trades and all know how that has worked out.
