This is why I try to avoid this subject. At times I can’t help but chime in, especially when I read things that just aren’t true. I don’t take “whacks” at Max. And my stance isn’t “recent” as you say. I see and hear things about our club/players that are for the most part positive. But there are things I see and hear that I know most fans not only won’t like, but will refuse to believe. Please don’t put me in the Max is selfish camp. I’ve never said that, nor do I believe it.

AFLW: Rd 04 vs Richmond
There’s ample parking at the ground. Parking is free. There’s tons of fun stuff at our home games. Kids never get bored. Be sure to pop over to our tent for a snag in bread or even just to say hello. I’ll tie “Go Dees” miss 2yo’s hair in red and blue ribbons if she likes (I always have a stash on me) 😊

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Sam McClure, Tom Morris, Gerard Whateley, Kane Cornes, Eddy McGuire, Michael Warner, David King, Mark Robinson, the list goes on. These are sports media people who are also frequently taken to task (to put it mildly) on this forum. This has nothing to do with gender.

Something indisputable is that Caro takes her job seriously… DA OGs told me that when Joe Gutnick was President, during a match he came down to sit in the cheer squad for “refuge.” A little while after he sat down, the person next to him turned around and there’s Caro sitting directly behind Joe, with pen and notebook. I don’t know what she expected to hear that could be newsworthy but I can’t help but admire such a ballsy move 😂

AFLW and Casey Fields - what's the plan?
I’m fortunate to have a couple of people who are happy to pick me up from Footscray station. They live in Altona and Hopper’s Crossing so it’s kinda on their way. But neither of them attended the VFL game at Casey on Saturday so I PT’d it there and back. It took me just under four hours to get there (should’ve been 3hr20m but I stuffed up one of the train/bus connections) and over three hours to get home. This is ok for a one-off but it can’t be sustained. And if my regulars couldn’t pick me up from Footscray I’d attend very few W matches and there’s only 12 as it is. The issue needs addressing.

Don’t feel bad… it’s not your fault our W home games are played at Casey.

The cost of getting any of these venues to the minimum standard is a drop in the ocean. Especially when the main need is extra seating.

You’re one of many who say this and it’s perfectly understandable. There are Demon Army members who don’t go because it’s so much of a hassle to get to. They’ll attend games at Ikon, no worries. They’ll help make the banner and they’re invested but it’s too difficult for them to get to Casey. It’s such a shame because IMHO our attendance figures would soar were we to play at venues closer to the city.

Would LOVE for this to be the case. Attendance figures would surely rise.

At this point the weather forecast is looking good: 20 degrees and no rain. We’ll be putting on a sausage sizzle and there’ll be the usual fun things for kids: face painting, mini-golf putting, etc. Would love to see more people attend this time around. ❤️💙

AFLW and Casey Fields - what's the plan?
Our first home game (Rd 2) complete with all activations, the many giveaways and the $10,000 helicopter ball drop would have been a massive success had it been at Ikon or similar, IMHO. Also IMHO, all the planning and execution went to waste. A crowd of only 2,152 meant so many leftover freebies, food and drink. It also meant the 10,000 golf balls dropped from the helicopter dwindled to 5,000 and even then over half of the balls were redundant. Such a shame because the people who did attend had a great time.

Oh I forgot about Punt Rd… another venue that would work.

Ikon and Vic. Park are standout venues. Inner city, close to train stations, shops etc., adequate seating, decent amenities. The only downside with both is the length of queues for food and drinks. Some folks missed an entire quarter queuing for food. Whitten Oval, Windy Hill, Arden St and even Moorabbin and Kinetic Park (which are both further from the city) are also good venues except for the lack of seating. GMHBA is also a good venue seating-wise and amenities-wise. There’s a train station at its doorstep too. I’ve asked all the girls at some point or another how they feel about playing at Casey. The consensus is they wish their home games were played at Ikon. They appreciate the awesome indoor facilities at Casey therefore training there is ok, but they’d love to play at Ikon.

Firstly, thank you for the respectful reply. It’s much appreciated that we can differ on this matter but still be civil 👍🏽 Some people are clearly affected in a way that others aren’t.
