Yeah it’s highly likely we’ll be playing Brisbane in week one and I agree that our home ground advantage is diluted somewhat since the Lions do play well at Casey. But be it Casey or Princes Park, the point is it’s not in Brisbane.

I guess utilising Mick in some capacity with the men’s between December, (or March for the season proper) and next June (when the W preseason starts) could be possible but It’d be a lot for Mick to take on, even if part-time. Maybe in some sort of consultancy role, so as he can continue to devote as much time to the W, and not take on too much during the M.

Gabs broke her wrist punching the ball in a spoil during a scrimmage match. She’s having surgery at season’s end. I assumed this meant she was done for the season but she said they’re keeping her as a “backup” should need be. It means should she be called upon to play, she’ll have a heavily bandaged wrist. Ouch!😩

Was just told something interesting: the club is pushing hard for at least one final at Casey. I’m guessing the reason might be while we do play really well at Ikon, other teams do too. We play really well at Casey but other teams, not so much.

Rehabbers are out here now. Liv is in absolutely awesome spirits. According to Christian (physio) she’s killing it recovery-wise. He said that’s largely due to her determination to be back to her best despite knowing she won’t be right ‘til next season. Just chatted to Moll. She’s a victim of general soreness 🫡 😝

No one rehabbing. The entire group is out there but that’s probs because they’re just stretching for now. I guess when they get into it there’ll be a few on the sidelines. Getting wet update: no other track-watchers in attendance as yet, more to the point, no track-watchers’ umbrellas as yet. They’ll have a lot to answer for. I might have to suspend their memberships. I can’t say I’m 100% sure of it but I like to think I’d be aware had contact with the DA been made since I’m on a couple of DA committees one being the New Member Welcoming Committee.

There already is such a committee, DZ. It’s called the Member Engagement Committee and it’s relatively new. As far as I know, to date this committee hasn’t engaged with the Demon Army, which one would expect. We have just on 1,000 members (at varying levels of participation, but all fully paid up MFC & DA members) which is a substantial chunk of our overall membership, and it becomes more significant as our overall membership drops.

Mick is worth banging on about, no doubt about it. But I differ with you on the suggestion that he should be used in the men’s. Why would we (self)-sabotage our W team by taking away the only coach they’ve ever had, and a fantastic coach at that, to see him in a lesser role at the men’s?

This ain’t Dub’s first rodeo. One only has to be on DL for five minutes after joining and they’re fully schooled on MFCSS and its attendant misery. PS: you’re quoting Ted Mulry? Just consulted with our expert in all things W, Craig. He said Mick has only missed one game, the Freo one in Perth. He did hand the reins over to Shae for the Hawks game at Frankston but he’s listed as the coach so he’s technically only missed one game.

No! It’s not humanly possible! They are so much fun and even the quiet, more reserved ones (Tahls, Alyssia, eg.) came out of their shells so to speak and were delightful to spend time with. I’d spoken with Laela briefly before last night but her and I bonded over me fake-berating her for being a lazy bludger coz she dared to go to the bathroom. I kept doing this to her from across the hall… 😂 She’s just the sweetest girl ever and as she was leaving she hugged me and said, “See you at training on Friday, Ghosty? I promise I won’t slack off!” 😅 So now it’s a thing.

So do I, Brownie. Not one of them at any stage was on their phone. They didn’t look like there’s a thousand other places they’d rather be. They jumped straight into work and were having a blast doing so, but were serious about it knowing it’s so important to us to have a perfect banner for them. Riggers was adorable, while we were weaving the crepe for the backing, with every row of crepe she’d say “Is this ok, Ghosty?” She genuinely wanted it to be perfect 🥹
