  1. They do this by choice. They’re so dedicated. I bet Liv P was there. She’s determination personified, such an inspiration.
  2. I got prior written consent from @Roost it far though. Incidentally, he doesn’t need to know the second session had already begun before I returned. In my defence, the second session started earlier than scheduled. But he’s a hard taskmaster is ol’ Rooster.
  3. I was actually going to watch them train yesterday during the break between our sessions but I realised I’d left my hazmat suit at home 🙃
  4. Nailed it. This is where the answer lies. As far as I can see there’s no huge increase in goal-kicking practice and this is where most Dees fans thought the problem was. Technically Chappy is the goal-kicking coach but as you say, the players have great belief in the coaches as a group. The players are buying what the coaching group is selling. Credit also to Checkers. He’s had a marked impact on Roo, in particular. His presence in the forward line makes all the difference.
  5. Well said, Rab. @No. 31 is always welcome on this forum regardless of who he barracks for. He’s never nasty, never childishly rude and never bullies anyone. Certain individuals on here could do well to take a leaf out of his book.
  6. So, not only wagging the captain’s run but setting me a task. Okaaaaay.
  7. Training is at Casey Fields tomorrow and Friday. As per usual these are closed sessions. The boys have Thursday off. Saturday morning at 10:30am there’ll be a captain’s run at Gosch’s. Tonight they’re at the soccer match being played at AAMI. Not compulsory, they just enjoy hanging out together.
  8. On the contrary SlartiSmartArze, Kalani actually loves a chat. Yes I talk a lot but he gives me a run for my money. Kolt, Luker, AMW and Ricky M among others similarly love to chat. And when I say chat I mean they talk, I listen. True story. There’s this line from Fight Club… “When people think you are dying, they really, really listen to you, instead of just waiting for their turn to speak.” This should apply to everyone. Too many times people aren’t listening to each other coz they’re thinking about what they wanna say when it’s their turn to speak.
  9. I really don’t get them to open up though, but if they feel like talking I’m happy to listen. It’s the young guys and in particular the young interstate guys who seem to wanna share things and I understand why. I’m not special but there’s something I know I’m good at and that’s listening. It sounds silly to say that but listening is a dying art. It’s on the endangered species list. It’s a shame because it’s so valuable and important.
  10. We discuss this a lot on our DA (W) WhatsApp group. Yesterday someone mentioned Glenn Strachan who, until three weeks ago, was a senior assistant coach at Carlton (W). He’s a well-respected assistant coach who left Carlton in pursuit of a Head Coaching job. The very next day Port Adelaide snapped him up and he’s their new Head Coach. We were wondering if Glenn had been a consideration for us. Anyways, one of our W aficionados who’s across these things said at this point we’re still interviewing candidates.
  11. I love their streak of finals losses but I hate that their last winning final was against us. This is #2510 on my reasons for hating Essendon list
  12. Luker has to play at least one Casey game. He said he’s confident he’ll be lining up for Casey this weekend. I said maybe you’ll debut in Gather Round vs Essendon. I don’t remember it, but I’ve clearly at some point told him how I feel about Essendon because he said, “How would you feel about that? Reckon you’ll be ok?” 😅
  13. Since when has that stopped them getting up in injured players’ faces? Especially on a slow- or no-news day. Anyways, while it may not bother some players, clearly CJ isn’t enamoured with it.
  14. Thanks Slartz, my job would be easier if you and ‘Banger could drag your sorry arzes here. You know I’m not good at reporting which players are or aren’t here nor just reporting in general. 🤨 Now I’ve gotta face @Roost it far and his unreasonable demands on my own.
  15. Jeffo wasn’t at either session. However, I was talking with Bez (OB38) and he said this week’s match (VFL) will be great because they’ll have Jeffo and Luker up forward.
  16. After every one had long gone there was me and Kalani chatting for about half an hour. We talked about a bunch of things: his return to good health, his living sitch with Kolt and Luker, the things the whole group does together in their free time and (stop reading if you’re grossly offended by the mere mention of an 18yo boy talking to a middle-aged woman about his girlfriend and their relationship and about his ex and why that didn’t work out, etc., so grossly offended that you feel compelled to come post about your repulsion on here), a wide range of subjects. Anyways I mentioned Jeff then apologised adding he must be sick of his dad coming up in every convo with us sentimental fans. He surprised me with what he said about this. He said he not only understands it but he loves it and that Jeff has explained it to him. He said becoming a Demon was never in question and that’s largely because of what Jeff’s told him about our club and our fans. This is a wise head on young shoulders and we’re blessed to have him.
  17. But it was a footy act, so I get a premiership medal.
  18. I mean, there’s easily a couple of grand worth of shoes here and no one around.
  19. Sharpie’s not here because as is the way this season each player has their own schedule and this afternoon was lifting then running for Sharpie.
  20. Kalani, Ron, XL, TC, Jed, Leb, Bez, Harves, Max, Trelly, Tommy Matthews, Reg, Kolt Ricky M in this group.
  21. I came back for this session for the sole purpose of seeing Sharpie and he’s not here 😭
  22. Luker is running exceptionally well. If I get a chance I’ll try to get an update. I kid you not, as they’re running laps as a group, Trelly is bouncing a flippin ball and not even slowing down a millisecond.
  23. I just got back to Gosch’s and the second group is out here already. All running laps.
  24. I didn’t bring it up but on this, Monners said the club sat Riv down and explained exactly how it’s gonna be handled and that Riv is fine with it. I also didn’t mention Riv potentially carrying an injury, Andy said “his knee issue” like it was common knowledge.
  25. Yes he said had Casey not had a bye he would’ve had another VFL game under his belt. He said prior to the last VFL game they told him they’d like him to play two games in the twos before hitting the park in the seniors. He said he’s feeling 100% and can’t wait to be back out there
